Genesis 17:1 | And Abram was ninety-nine years old, when Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said to him, I [am] the Almighty ùGod: walk before my face, and be perfect. | And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be thou perfect. | When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord came to him, and said, I am God, Ruler of all; go in my ways and be upright in all things, |
Genesis 17:2 | And I will set my covenant between me and thee, and will very greatly multiply thee. | And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. | And I will make an agreement between you and me, and your offspring will be greatly increased. |
Genesis 17:3 | And Abram fell on his face; and God talked with him, saying, | And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, | And Abram went down on his face on the earth, and the Lord God went on talking with him, and said, |
Genesis 17:4 | It is I: behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of a multitude of nations. | As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations. | As for me, my agreement is made with you, and you will be the father of nations without end. |
Genesis 17:5 | And thy name shall no more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of a multitude of nations have I made thee. | Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee. | No longer will your name be Abram, but Abraham, for I have made you the father of a number of nations. |
Genesis 17:6 | And I will make thee exceedingly fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. | And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. | I will make you very fertile, so that nations will come from you and kings will be your offspring. |
Genesis 17:7 | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and thy seed after thee in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee. | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. | And I will make between me and you and your seed after you through all generations, an eternal agreement to be a God to you and to your seed after you. |
Genesis 17:8 | And I give to thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojourning, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be a God to them. | And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. | And to you and to your seed after you, I will give the land in which you are living, all the land of Canaan for an eternal heritage; and I will be their God. |
Genesis 17:9 | And God said to Abraham, And [as for] thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou and thy seed after thee in their generations. | And God said unto Abraham, And as for thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations. | And God said to Abraham, On your side, you are to keep the agreement, you and your seed after you through all generations. |
Genesis 17:10 | This is my covenant which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee that every male among you be circumcised. | This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised. | And this is the agreement which you are to keep with me, you and your seed after you: every male among you is to undergo circumcision. |
Genesis 17:11 | And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and [that] shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you. | And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you. | In the flesh of your private parts you are to undergo it, as a mark of the agreement between me and you. |
Genesis 17:12 | And at eight days old shall every male in your generations be circumcised among you he who is born in the house, and he who is bought with money, any stranger who is not of thy seed. | And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner that is not of thy seed. | Every male among you, from one generation to another, is to undergo circumcision when he is eight days old, with every servant whose birth takes place in your house, or for whom you gave money to someone of another country, and not of your seed. |
Genesis 17:13 | He who is born in thy house, and he who is bought with thy money, must be circumcised; and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. | He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. | He who comes to birth in your house and he who is made yours for a price, all are to undergo circumcision; so that my agreement may be marked in your flesh, an agreement for all time. |
Genesis 17:14 | And the uncircumcised male who hath not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his peoples: he hath broken my covenant. | And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. | And any male who does not undergo circumcision will be cut off from his people: my agreement has been broken by him. |
Genesis 17:15 | And God said to Abraham, [As to] Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. | And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. | And God said, As for Sarai, your wife, from now her name will be not Sarai, but Sarah. |
Genesis 17:16 | And I will bless her, and I will give thee a son also of her; and I will bless her, and she shall become nations: kings of peoples shall be of her. | And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be [a mother of] nations; kings of peoples shall be of her. | And I will give her a blessing so that you will have a son by her: truly my blessing will be on her, and she will be the mother of nations: kings of peoples will be her offspring. |
Genesis 17:17 | And Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall [a child] be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear? | Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? | Then Abraham went down on his face, and laughing, said in his heart, May a man a hundred years old have a child? will Sarah, at ninety years old, give birth? |
Genesis 17:18 | And Abraham said to God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee! | And Abraham said unto God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee! | And Abraham said to God, If only Ishmael's life might be your care! |
Genesis 17:19 | And God said, Sarah thy wife shall indeed bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac; and I will establish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. | And God said, Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. | And God said, Not so; but Sarah, your wife, will have a son, and you will give him the name Isaac, and I will make my agreement with him for ever and with his seed after him. |
Genesis 17:20 | And for Ishmael I have heard thee: behold, I will bless him, and will make him fruitful, and will very greatly multiply him; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. | And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. | As for Ishmael, I have given ear to your prayer: truly I have given him my blessing and I will make him fertile and give him great increase; he will be the father of twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation. |
Genesis 17:21 | But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to thee at this appointed time in the next year. | But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. | But my agreement will be with Isaac, to whom Sarah will give birth a year from this time. |
Genesis 17:22 | And he left off talking with him; and God went up from Abraham. | And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. | And having said these words, God went up from Abraham. |
Genesis 17:23 | And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all who were born in his house, and all who were bought with his money every male among the people of Abraham's house and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin on that same day, as God had said to him. | And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. | And Abraham took Ishmael, his son, and all whose birth had taken place in his house, and all his servants whom he had made his for a price, every male of his house, and on that very day he gave them circumcision in the flesh of their private parts as God had said to him. |
Genesis 17:24 | And Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he underwent circumcision. |
Genesis 17:25 | And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. | And Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old when he underwent circumcision. |
Genesis 17:26 | In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son; | In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. | Abraham and Ishmael, his son, underwent circumcision on that very day. |
Genesis 17:27 | and all the men of his house, born in his house, or bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him. | And all the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money of a foreigner, were circumcised with him. | And all the men of his house, those whose birth had taken place in the house and those whom he had got for money from men of other lands, underwent circumcision with him. |
