Luke 3:1Now in the fifteenth year of the government of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of Ituraea and the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene,Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of Iturea, and the country of Trachonitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilina;
Luke 3:2in the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, [the] word of God came upon John, the son of Zacharias, in the wilderness.in the highpriesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. Under the high priests Annas and Caiphas; the word of the Lord was made unto John, the son of Zachary, in the desert.
Luke 3:3And he came into all the district round the Jordan, preaching [the] baptism of repentance for [the] remission of sins,And he came into all the region round about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance unto remission of sins; And he came into all the country about the Jordan, preaching the baptism of penance for the remission of sins;
Luke 3:4as it is written in [the] book of [the] words of Esaias the prophet: Voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of [the] Lord, make straight his paths.as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make ye ready the way of the Lord, Make his paths straight. As it was written in the book of the sayings of Isaias the prophet: A voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.
Luke 3:5Every gorge shall be filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked [places] shall become a straight [path], and the rough places smooth ways,Every valley shall be filled, And every mountain and hill shall be brought low; And the crooked shall become straight, And the rough ways smooth; Every valley shall be filled; and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight; and the rough ways plain;
Luke 3:6and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
Luke 3:7He said therefore to the crowds which went out to be baptised by him, Offspring of vipers, who has forewarned you to flee from the coming wrath?He said therefore to the multitudes that went out to be baptized of him, Ye offspring of vipers, who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? He said therefore to the multitudes that went forth to be baptized by him: Ye offspring of vipers, who hath shewed you to flee from the wrath to come?
Luke 3:8Produce therefore fruits worthy of repentance; and begin not to say in yourselves, We have Abraham for [our] father, for I say unto you that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of penance; and do not begin to say, We have Abraham for our father. For I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children to Abraham.
Luke 3:9And already also the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into [the] fire.And even now the axe also lieth at the root of the trees: every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. For now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down and cast into the fire.
Luke 3:10And the crowds asked him saying, What should we do then?And the multitudes asked him, saying, What then must we do? And the people asked him, saying: What then shall we do?
Luke 3:11And he answering says to them, He that has two body-coats, let him give to him that has none; and he that has food, let him do likewise.And he answered and said unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath food, let him do likewise. And he answering, said to them: He that hath two coats, let him give to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do in like manner.
Luke 3:12And tax-gatherers came also to be baptised, and they said to him, Teacher, what should we do?And there came also publicans to be baptized, and they said unto him, Teacher, what must we do? And the publicans also came to be baptized, and said to him: Master, what shall we do?
Luke 3:13And he said to them, Take no more [money] than what is appointed to you.And he said unto them, Extort no more than that which is appointed you. But he said to them: Do nothing more than that which is appointed you.
Luke 3:14And persons engaged in military service also asked him saying, And we, what should we do? And he said to them, Oppress no one, nor accuse falsely, and be satisfied with your pay.And soldiers also asked him, saying, And we, what must we do? And he said unto them, Extort from no man by violence, neither accuse [any one] wrongfully; and be content with your wages. And the soldiers also asked him, saying: And what shall we do? And he said to them: Do violence to no man; neither calumniate any man; and be content with your pay.
Luke 3:15But as the people were in expectation, and all were reasoning in their hearts concerning John whether *he* might be the Christ,And as the people were in expectation, and all men reasoned in their hearts concerning John, whether haply he were the Christ; And as the people were of opinion, and all were thinking in their hearts of John, that perhaps he might be the Christ;
Luke 3:16John answered all, saying, *I* indeed baptise you with water, but the mightier than I is coming, the thong of whose sandals I am not fit to unloose; *he* shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire;John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but there cometh he that is mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you in the Holy Spirit and [in] fire: John answered, saying unto all: I indeed baptize you with water; but there shall come one mightier that I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to loose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Luke 3:17whose winnowing-fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his threshing-floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner, but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.whose fan is in his hand, thoroughly to cleanse his threshing-floor, and to gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his barn; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.
Luke 3:18Exhorting then many other things also he announced [his] glad tidings to the people.With many other exhortations therefore preached he good tidings unto the people; And many other things exhorting, did he preach to the people.

Luke 3:22and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove upon him; and a voice came out of heaven, *Thou* art my beloved Son, in thee I have found my delight.and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form, as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
