Matthew 15:1Then the scribes and Pharisees from Jerusalem come up to Jesus, saying,Then there come to Jesus from Jerusalem Pharisees and scribes, saying, Then Pharisees and scribes come to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,
Matthew 15:2Why do thy disciples transgress what has been delivered by the ancients? for they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. "Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don't wash their hands when they eat bread."
Matthew 15:3But he answering said to them, Why do *ye* also transgress the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching?And he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? He answered them, "Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?
Matthew 15:4For God commanded saying, Honour father and mother; and, He that speaks ill of father or mother, let him die the death.For God said, Honor thy father and thy mother: and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death. For God commanded, 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.'
Matthew 15:5But *ye* say, Whosoever shall say to his father or mother, It is a gift, whatsoever [it be] by which [received] from me thou wouldest be profited:But ye say, whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is given [to God]; But you say, 'Whoever will tell his father or his mother, "Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,"
Matthew 15:6and he shall in no wise honour his father or his mother; and ye have made void the commandment of God on account of your traditional teaching.he shall not honor his father. And ye have made void the word of God because of your tradition. he will not honor his father or mother.' You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.
Matthew 15:7Hypocrites! well has Esaias prophesied about you, saying,Ye hypocrites, well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying, You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,
Matthew 15:8This people honour me with the lips, but their heart is far away from me;This people honoreth me with their lips; But their heart is far from me. 'These people draw near to me with their mouth, And honor me with their lips; But their heart is far from me.
Matthew 15:9but in vain do they worship me, teaching [as] teachings commandments of men.But in vain do they worship me, Teaching [as their] doctrines the precepts of men. But in vain do they worship me, Teaching as doctrine rules made by men.'"
Matthew 15:10And having called to [him] the crowd, he said to them, Hear and understand:And he called to him the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand: He called the multitude to himself, and said to them, "Hear, and understand.
Matthew 15:11Not what enters into the mouth defiles the man; but what goes forth out of the mouth, this defiles the man.Not that which entereth into the mouth defileth the man; but that which proceedeth out of the mouth, this defileth the man. That which enters into the mouth doesn't defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man."
Matthew 15:12Then his disciples, coming up, said to him, Dost thou know that the Pharisees, having heard this word, have been offended?Then came the disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying? Then the disciples came, and said to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?"
Matthew 15:13But he answering said, Every plant which my heavenly Father has not planted shall be rooted up.But he answered and said, Every plant which my heavenly Father planted not, shall be rooted up. But he answered, "Every plant which my heavenly Father didn't plant will be uprooted.
Matthew 15:14Leave them alone; they are blind leaders of blind: but if blind lead blind, both will fall into a ditch.Let them alone: they are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both shall fall into a pit. Let them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit."
Matthew 15:15And Peter answering said to him, Expound to us this parable.And Peter answered and said unto him, Declare unto us the parable. Peter answered him, "Explain the parable to us."
Matthew 15:16But he said, Are *ye* also still without intelligence?And he said, Are ye also even yet without understanding? So Jesus said, "Do you also still not understand?
Matthew 15:17Do ye not yet apprehend, that everything that enters into the mouth finds its way into the belly, and is cast forth into the draught?Perceive ye not, that whatsoever goeth into the mouth passeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? Don't you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?
Matthew 15:18but the things which go forth out of the mouth come out of the heart, and those defile man.But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart; and they defile the man. But the things which proceed out of the mouth come forth out of the heart, and they defile the man.
Matthew 15:19For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witnessings, blasphemies;For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, railings: For out of the heart come forth evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.
Matthew 15:20these are the things which defile man; but the eating with unwashen hands does not defile man.these are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not the man. These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn't defile the man."
Matthew 15:21And Jesus, going forth from thence, went away into the parts of Tyre and Sidon;And Jesus went out thence, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon. Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the parts of Tyre and Sidon.
Matthew 15:22and lo, a Canaanitish woman, coming out from those borders, cried [to him] saying, Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is miserably possessed by a demon.And behold, a Canaanitish woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a demon. Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David. My daughter is grievously vexed with a demon."
Matthew 15:23But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came to [him] and asked him, saying, Dismiss her, for she cries after us.But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away; for she cries after us."
Matthew 15:24But he answering said, I have not been sent save to the lost sheep of Israel's house.But he answered and said, I was not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. But he answered, "I wasn't sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel."
Matthew 15:25But she came and did him homage, saying, Lord, help me.But she came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But she came and worshipped him, saying, "Lord, help me."
Matthew 15:26But he answering said, It is not well to take the bread of the children and cast it to the dogs.And he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. But he answered, "It is not appropriate to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs."
Matthew 15:27But she said, Yea, Lord; for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from the table of their masters.But she said, Yea, Lord: for even the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. But she said, "Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters' table."
Matthew 15:28Then Jesus answering said to her, O woman, thy faith [is] great. Be it to thee as thou desirest. And her daughter was healed from *that* hour.Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it done unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was healed from that hour. Then Jesus answered her, "Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that hour.
Matthew 15:29And Jesus, going away from thence, came towards the sea of Galilee, and he went up into the mountain and sat down there;And Jesus departed thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there. Jesus departed there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.
Matthew 15:30and great crowds came to him, having with them lame, blind, dumb, crippled, and many others, and they cast them at his feet, and he healed them:And there came unto him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and they cast them down at this feet; and he healed them: There came to him great multitudes, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,
Matthew 15:31so that the crowds wondered, seeing dumb speaking, crippled sound, lame walking, and blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb speaking, the maimed whole, and lame walking, and the blind seeing: and they glorified the God of Israel. so that the multitude wondered, when they saw the mute speaking, the injured whole, lame walking, and the blind seeing and they glorified the God of Israel.
Matthew 15:32But Jesus, having called his disciples to [him], said, I have compassion on the crowd, because they have stayed with me already three days and they have not anything they can eat, and I would not send them away fasting lest they should faint on the way.And Jesus called unto him his disciples, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat: and I would not send them away fasting, lest haply they faint on the way. Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, "I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don't want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way."
Matthew 15:33And his disciples say to him, Whence should we have so many loaves in [the] wilderness as to satisfy so great a crowd?And the disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude? The disciples said to him, "Where should we get so many loaves in a desert place as to fill so great a multitude?"
Matthew 15:34And Jesus says to them, How many loaves have ye? But they said, Seven, and a few small fishes.And Jesus said unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few small fishes. Jesus said to them, "How many loaves do you have?" They said, "Seven, and a few small fish."
Matthew 15:35And he commanded the crowds to lie down on the ground;And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground; He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;
Matthew 15:36and having taken the seven loaves and the fishes, having given thanks, he broke [them] and gave [them] to his disciples, and the disciples to the crowd.and he took the seven loaves and the fishes; and he gave thanks and brake, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes. and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.
Matthew 15:37And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was over and above of the fragments seven baskets full;And they all ate, and were filled: and they took up that which remained over of the broken pieces, seven baskets full. They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.
Matthew 15:38but they that ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.And they that did eat were four thousand men, besides women and children. Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.
