John 20:1And on the first [day] of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.Now on the first [day] of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, unto the tomb, and seeth the stone taken away from the tomb. And on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,
John 20:2She runs therefore and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, to whom Jesus was attached, and says to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.She runneth therefore, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him. she runneth, therefore, and cometh unto Simon Peter, and unto the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and saith to them, `They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid him.`
John 20:3Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb. Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,
John 20:4And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran forward faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb,And they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the tomb; and the two were running together, and the other disciple did run forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,
John 20:5and stooping down he sees the linen cloths lying; he did not however go in.and stooping and looking in, he seeth the linen cloths lying; yet entered he not in. and having stooped down, seeth the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he entered not.
John 20:6Simon Peter therefore comes, following him, and entered into the tomb, and sees the linen cloths lying,Simon Peter therefore also cometh, following him, and entered into the tomb; and he beholdeth the linen cloths lying, Simon Peter, therefore, cometh, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholdeth the linen clothes lying,
John 20:7and the handkerchief which was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a distinct place by itself.and the napkin, that was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. and the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;
John 20:8Then entered in therefore the other disciple also who came first to the tomb, and he saw and believed;Then entered in therefore the other disciple also, who came first to the tomb, and he saw, and believed. then, therefore, entered also the other disciple who came first unto the tomb, and he saw, and did believe;
John 20:9for they had not yet known the scripture, that he must rise from among [the] dead.For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. for not yet did they know the Writing, that it behoveth him out of the dead to rise again.
John 20:10The disciples therefore went away again to their own home.So the disciples went away again unto their own home. The disciples therefore went away again unto their own friends,
John 20:11But Mary stood at the tomb weeping without. As therefore she wept, she stooped down into the tomb,But Mary was standing without at the tomb weeping: so, as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb; and Mary was standing near the tomb, weeping without; as she was weeping, then, she stooped down to the tomb, and beholdeth two messengers in white, sitting,
John 20:12and beholds two angels sitting in white [garments], one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.and she beholdeth two angels in white sitting, one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.
John 20:13And they say to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She says to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. And they say to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep?` she saith to them, `Because they took away my Lord, and I have not known where they laid him;`
John 20:14Having said these things she turned backward and beholds Jesus standing [there], and knew not that it was Jesus.When she had thus said, she turned herself back, and beholdeth Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. and these things having said, she turned backward, and seeth Jesus standing, and she had not known that it is Jesus.
John 20:15Jesus says to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing that it was the gardener, says to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep? whom dost thou seek;` she, supposing that he is the gardener, saith to him, `Sir, if thou didst carry him away, tell me where thou didst lay him, and I will take him away;`
John 20:16Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning round, says to him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher.Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turneth herself, and saith unto him in Hebrew, Rabboni; which is to say, Teacher. Jesus saith to her, `Mary!` having turned, she saith to him, `Rabbouni;` that is to say, `Teacher.`
John 20:17Jesus says to her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and [to] my God and your God.Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended unto the Father: but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God. Jesus saith to her, `Be not touching me, for I have not yet ascended unto my Father; and be going on to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and to your God.`
John 20:18Mary of Magdala comes bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had said these things to her.Mary Magdalene cometh and telleth the disciples, I have seen the Lord; and [that] he had said these things unto her. Mary the Magdalene cometh, telling to the disciples that she hath seen the Lord, and [that] these things he said to her.
John 20:19When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first [day] of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace [be] to you.When therefore it was evening, on that day, the first [day] of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace [be] unto you. It being, therefore, evening, on that day, the first of the sabbaths, and the doors having been shut where the disciples were assembled, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, `Peace to you;`
John 20:20And having said this, he shewed to them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced therefore, having seen the Lord.And when he had said this, he showed unto them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad, when they saw the Lord. and this having said, he shewed them his hands and side; the disciples, therefore, rejoiced, having seen the Lord.
John 20:21[Jesus] said therefore again to them, Peace [be] to you: as the Father sent me forth, I also send you.Jesus therefore said to them again, Peace [be] unto you: as the Father hath sent me, even so send I you. Jesus, therefore, said to them again, `Peace to you; according as the Father hath sent me, I also send you;`
John 20:22And having said this, he breathed into [them], and says to them, Receive [the] Holy Spirit:And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit: and this having said, he breathed on [them], and saith to them, `Receive the Holy Spirit;
John 20:23whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.whose soever sins ye forgive, they are forgiven unto them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained. if of any ye may loose the sins, they are loosed to them; if of any ye may retain, they have been retained.`
John 20:24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. And Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came;
John 20:25The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe. the other disciples, therefore, said to him, `We have seen the Lord;` and he said to them, `If I may not see in his hands the mark of the nails, and may put my finger to the mark of the nails, and may put my hand to his side, I will not believe.`
John 20:26And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace [be] to you.And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace [be] unto you. And after eight days, again were his disciples within, and Thomas with them; Jesus cometh, the doors having been shut, and he stood in the midst, and said, `Peace to you!`
John 20:27Then he says to Thomas, Bring thy finger here and see my hands; and bring thy hand and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and see my hands; and reach [hither] thy hand, and put it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. then he saith to Thomas, `Bring thy finger hither, and see my hands, and bring thy hand, and put [it] to my side, and become not unbelieving, but believing.`
John 20:28Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. And Thomas answered and said to him, `My Lord and my God;`
John 20:29Jesus says to him, Because thou hast seen me thou hast believed: blessed they who have not seen and have believed.Jesus saith unto him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed [are] they that have not seen, and [yet] have believed. Jesus saith to him, `Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed; happy those not having seen, and having believed.`
John 20:30Many other signs therefore also Jesus did before his disciples, which are not written in this book;Many other signs therefore did Jesus in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book: Many indeed, therefore, other signs also did Jesus before his disciples, that are not written in this book;
John 20:31but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.but these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye may have life in his name. and these have been written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life in his name.`
