And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?The baptism of John, where did it come from? from heaven or from men? And they were reasoning among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say to us, Why then did you not have faith in him?The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, that tax-farmers and loose women are going into the kingdom of God before you.Which of the two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.
Matthew 21:32For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the tax-gatherers and the harlots believed him; but *ye* when ye saw [it] repented not yourselves afterwards to believe him.For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you had no faith in him, but the tax-farmers and the loose women had faith in him: and you, when you saw it, did not even have regret for your sins, so as to have faith in him.For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye saw it, did not even repent yourselves afterward, that ye might believe him.
Matthew 21:33Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country.Give ear to another story. A master of a house made a vine garden, and put a wall round it, and made a place for crushing out the wine, and made a tower, and let it out to field-workers, and went into another country.Hear another parable: There was a man that was a householder, who planted a vineyard, and set a hedge about it, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into another country.
Matthew 21:34But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. And when the time for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the workmen, to get the fruit. And when the season of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, to receive his fruits.
Matthew 21:35And the husbandmen took his bondmen, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another. And the workmen made an attack on his servants, giving blows to one, putting another to death, and stoning another. And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
Matthew 21:36Again he sent other bondmen more than the first, and they did to them in like manner.Again, he sent other servants more in number than the first: and they did the same to them.Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them in like manner.
Matthew 21:37And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son.But after that he sent his son to them, saying, They will have respect for my son.But afterward he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
Matthew 21:38But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance. But when the workmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property; come, let us put him to death and take his heritage. But the husbandmen, when they saw the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and take his inheritance.
Matthew 21:39And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.And they took him and, driving him out of the vine-garden, put him to death. And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Matthew 21:40When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what shall he do to those husbandmen? When, then, the lord of the vine-garden comes, what will he do to those workmen? When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
Matthew 21:41They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil [men], and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. They say to him, He will put those cruel men to a cruel death, and will let out the vine-garden to other workmen, who will give him the fruit when it is ready. They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those miserable men, and will let out the vineyard unto other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

Matthew 21:43Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.For this reason I say to you, The kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken away from you, and shall be given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
Matthew 21:44And he that falls on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.Any man falling on this stone will be broken, but he on whom it comes down will be crushed to dust. And he that falleth on this stone shall be broken to pieces: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will scatter him as dust.
Matthew 21:45And the chief priests and the Pharisees, having heard his parables, knew that he spoke about them. And when his stories came to the ears of the chief priests and the Pharisees, they saw that he was talking of them. And when the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
Matthew 21:46And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet. And though they had a desire to take him, they were in fear of the people, because in their eyes he was a prophet. And when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.
