And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him? | The baptism of John, where did it come from? from heaven or from men? And they were reasoning among themselves, saying, If we say, From heaven; he will say to us, Why then did you not have faith in him? | The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. |
Matthew 21:28 | But what think ye? A man had two children, and coming to the first he said, Child, go to-day, work in [my] vineyard. | But how does it seem to you? A man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go and do work today in the vine-garden. | But what think ye? Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, that tax-farmers and loose women are going into the kingdom of God before you. | Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. |
Matthew 21:32 | For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the tax-gatherers and the harlots believed him; but *ye* when ye saw [it] repented not yourselves afterwards to believe him. | For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you had no faith in him, but the tax-farmers and the loose women had faith in him: and you, when you saw it, did not even have regret for your sins, so as to have faith in him. | For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. |
Matthew 21:33 | Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country. | Give ear to another story. A master of a house made a vine garden, and put a wall round it, and made a place for crushing out the wine, and made a tower, and let it out to field-workers, and went into another country. | Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: |
Matthew 21:34 | But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits. | And when the time for the fruit came near, he sent his servants to the workmen, to get the fruit. | And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. |

Matthew 21:37 | And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son. | But after that he sent his son to them, saying, They will have respect for my son. | But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. |
Matthew 21:38 | But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance. | But when the workmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is he who will one day be the owner of the property; come, let us put him to death and take his heritage. | But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. |
Matthew 21:39 | And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him. | And they took him and, driving him out of the vine-garden, put him to death. | And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. |

Matthew 21:41 | They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil [men], and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. | They say to him, He will put those cruel men to a cruel death, and will let out the vine-garden to other workmen, who will give him the fruit when it is ready. | They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. |
Matthew 21:42 | Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone: this is of [the] Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes? | Jesus says to them, Did you never see in the Writings, The stone which the builders put on one side, the same has been made the chief stone of the building: this was the Lord's doing, and it is a wonder in our eyes? | Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? |
Matthew 21:43 | Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it. | For this reason I say to you, The kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and will be given to a nation producing the fruits of it. | Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. |
Matthew 21:44 | And he that falls on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder. | Any man falling on this stone will be broken, but he on whom it comes down will be crushed to dust. | And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. |
Matthew 21:45 | And the chief priests and the Pharisees, having heard his parables, knew that he spoke about them. | And when his stories came to the ears of the chief priests and the Pharisees, they saw that he was talking of them. | And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. |
Matthew 21:46 | And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet. | And though they had a desire to take him, they were in fear of the people, because in their eyes he was a prophet. | But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. |
