Romans 11:1I say then, Has God cast away his people? Far be the thought. For *I* also am an Israelite, of [the] seed of Abraham, of [the] tribe of Benjamin.Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see: and bow down their back always.So I say, Has God put his people on one side? Let there be no such thought. For I am of Israel, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Romans 11:2God has not cast away his people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the scripture says in [the history of] Elias, how he pleads with God against Israel?I say then, have they so stumbled, that they should fall? God forbid. But by their offence, salvation is come to the Gentiles, that they may be emulous of them.God has not put away the people of his selection. Or have you no knowledge of what is said about Elijah in the holy Writings? how he says words to God against Israel,
Romans 11:3Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have dug down thine altars; and *I* have been left alone, and they seek my life.Now if the offence of them be the riches of the world, and the diminution of them, the riches of the Gentiles; how much more the fulness of them?Lord, they have put your prophets to death, and made waste your altars, and now I am the last, and they are searching for me to take away my life.
Romans 11:4But what says the divine answer to him? I have left to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed knee to Baal.For I say to you, Gentiles: as long indeed as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I will honour my ministry,But what answer does God make to him? I have still seven thousand men whose knees have not been bent to Baal.
Romans 11:5Thus, then, in the present time also there has been a remnant according to election of grace.If, by any means, I may provoke to emulation them who are my flesh, and may save some of them.In the same way, there are at this present time some who are marked out by the selection of grace.
Romans 11:6But if by grace, no longer of works: since [otherwise] grace is no more grace.For if the loss of them be the reconciliation of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?But if it is of grace, then it is no longer of works: or grace would not be grace.
Romans 11:7What [is it] then? What Israel seeks for, that he has not obtained; but the election has obtained, and the rest have been blinded,For if the firstfruit be holy, so is the lump also: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.What then? That which Israel was searching for he did not get, but those of the selection got it and the rest were made hard.
Romans 11:8according as it is written, God has given to them a spirit of slumber, eyes not to see, and ears not to hear, unto this day.And if some of the branches be broken, and thou, being a wild olive, art ingrafted in them, and art made partaker of the root, and of the fatness of the olive tree,As it was said in the holy Writings, God gave them a spirit of sleep, eyes which might not see, and ears which have no hearing, to this day.
Romans 11:9And David says, Let their table be for a snare, and for a gin, and for a fall-trap, and for a recompense to them:Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.And David says, Let their table be made a net for taking them, and a stone in their way, and a punishment:
Romans 11:10let their eyes be darkened not to see, and bow down their back alway.Thou wilt say then: The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.Let their eyes be made dark so that they may not see, and let their back be bent down at all times.
Romans 11:11I say then, Have they stumbled in order that they might fall? Far be the thought: but by their fall [there is] salvation to the nations to provoke them to jealousy.Well: because of unbelief they were broken off. But thou standest by faith: be not highminded, but fear.So I say, Were their steps made hard in order that they might have a fall? In no way: but by their fall salvation has come to the Gentiles, so that they might be moved to envy.
Romans 11:12But if their fall [be the] world's wealth, and their loss [the] wealth of [the] nations, how much rather their fulness?For if God hath not spared the natural branches, fear lest perhaps he also spare not thee.Now, if their fall is the wealth of the world, and their loss the wealth of the Gentiles, how much greater will be the glory when they are made full?
Romans 11:13For I speak to you, the nations, inasmuch as *I* am apostle of nations, I glorify my ministry;See then the goodness and the severity of God: towards them indeed that are fallen, the severity; but towards thee, the goodness of God, if thou abide in goodness, otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.But I say to you, Gentiles, in so far as I am the Apostle of the Gentiles, I make much of my position:
Romans 11:14if by any means I shall provoke to jealousy [them which are] my flesh, and shall save some from among them.And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.If in any way those who are of my flesh may be moved to envy, so that some of them may get salvation by me.
Romans 11:15For if their casting away [be the] world's reconciliation, what [their] reception but life from among [the] dead?For if thou wert cut out of the wild olive tree, which is natural to thee; and, contrary to nature, were grafted into the good olive tree; how much more shall they that are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?For, if by their putting away, the rest of men have been made friends with God, what will their coming back again be, but life from the dead?
Romans 11:16Now if the first-fruit [be] holy, the lump also; and if the root [be] holy, the branches also.For I would not have you ignorant, brethren, of this mystery, (lest you should be wise in your own conceits), that blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles should come in.And if the first-fruit is holy, so is the mass: and if the root is holy, so are the branches.
Romans 11:17Now if some of the branches have been broken out, and *thou*, being a wild olive tree, hast been grafted in amongst them, and hast become a fellow-partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,And so all Israel should be saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion, he that shall deliver, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, an olive-tree of the fields, were put in among them, and were given a part with them in the root by which the olive-tree is made fertile,
Romans 11:18boast not against the branches; but if thou boast, [it is] not *thou* bearest the root, but the root thee.And this is to them my covenant: when I shall take away their sins.Do not be uplifted in pride over the branches: because it is not you who are the support of the root, but it is by the root that you are supported.
Romans 11:19Thou wilt say then, The branches have been broken out in order that *I* might be grafted in.As concerning the gospel, indeed, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are most dear for the sake of the fathers.You will say, Branches were broken off so that I might be put in.
Romans 11:20Right: they have been broken out through unbelief, and *thou* standest through faith. Be not high-minded, but fear:For the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance.Truly, because they had no faith they were broken off, and you have your place by reason of your faith. Do not be lifted up in pride, but have fear;
Romans 11:21if God indeed has not spared the natural branches; lest it might be he spare not thee either.For as you also in times past did not believe God, but now have obtained mercy, through their unbelief;For, if God did not have mercy on the natural branches, he will not have mercy on you.
Romans 11:22Behold then [the] goodness and severity of God: upon them who have fallen, severity; upon thee goodness of God, if thou shalt abide in goodness, since [otherwise] *thou* also wilt be cut away.So these also now have not believed, for your mercy, that they also may obtain mercy.See then that God is good but his rules are fixed: to those who were put away he was hard, but to you he has been good, on the condition that you keep in his mercy; if not, you will be cut off as they were.
Romans 11:23And *they* too, if they abide not in unbelief, shall be grafted in; for God is able again to graft them in.For God hath concluded all in unbelief, that he may have mercy on all.And they, if they do not go on without faith, will be united to the tree again, because God is able to put them in again.
Romans 11:24For if *thou* hast been cut out of the olive tree wild by nature, and, contrary to nature, hast been grafted into the good olive tree, how much rather shall they, who are according to nature be grafted into their own olive tree?O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and of the knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments, and how unsearchable his ways!For if you were cut out of a field olive-tree, and against the natural use were united to a good olive-tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be united again with the olive-tree which was theirs?
Romans 11:25For I do not wish you to be ignorant, brethren, of this mystery, that ye may not be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the nations be come in;For who hath known the mind of the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor?For it is my desire, brothers, that this secret may be clear to you, so that you may not have pride in your knowledge, that Israel has been made hard in part, till all the Gentiles have come in;
Romans 11:26and so all Israel shall be saved. According as it is written, The deliverer shall come out of Zion; he shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.Or who hath first given to him, and recompense shall be made him?And so all Israel will get salvation: as it is said in the holy Writings, There will come out of Zion the One who makes free; by him wrongdoing will be taken away from Jacob:
Romans 11:27And this is the covenant from me to them, when I shall have taken away their sins.For of him, and by him, and in him, are all things: to him be glory for ever. Amen.And this is my agreement with them, when I will take away their sins.
Romans 11:28As regards the glad tidings, [they are] enemies on your account; but as regards election, beloved on account of the fathers.As far as the good news is in question, they are cut off from God on account of you, but as far as the selection is in question, they are loved on account of the fathers.
Romans 11:29For the gifts and the calling of God [are] not subject to repentance.Because God's selection and his mercies may not be changed.
Romans 11:30For as indeed *ye* [also] once have not believed in God, but now have been objects of mercy through the unbelief of *these*;For as you, in time past, were not under the rule of God, but now have got mercy through their turning away,
Romans 11:31so these also have now not believed in your mercy, in order that *they* also may be objects of mercy.So in the same way these have gone against the orders of God, so that by the mercy given to you they may now get mercy.
Romans 11:32For God hath shut up together all in unbelief, in order that he might shew mercy to all.For God has let them all go against his orders, so that he might have mercy on them all.
Romans 11:33O depth of riches both of [the] wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable his judgments, and untraceable his ways!O how deep is the wealth of the wisdom and knowledge of God! no one is able to make discovery of his decisions, and his ways may not be searched out.
Romans 11:34For who has known [the] mind of [the] Lord, or who has been his counsellor?Who has knowledge of the mind of the Lord? or who has taken part in his purposes?
Romans 11:35or who has first given to him, and it shall be rendered to him?Or who has first given to him, and it will be given back to him again?
Romans 11:36For of him, and through him, and for him [are] all things: to him be glory for ever. Amen.For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things. To him be the glory for ever. So be it.
