John 1:1In [the] beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. From the first he was the Word, and the Word was in relation with God and was God.
John 1:2*He* was in the beginning with God.The same was in the beginning with God. This Word was from the first in relation with God.
John 1:3All things received being through him, and without him not one [thing] received being which has received being. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. All things came into existence through him, and without him nothing was.
John 1:4In him was life, and the life was the light of men.In him was life; and the life was the light of men. What came into existence in him was life, and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5And the light appears in darkness, and the darkness apprehended it not.And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. And the light goes on shining in the dark; it is not overcome by the dark.

John 1:9The true light was that which, coming into the world, lightens every man. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. The true light, which gives light to every man, was then coming into the world.
John 1:10He was in the world, and the world had [its] being through him, and the world knew him not.He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He was in the world, the world which came into being through him, but the world had no knowledge of him.
John 1:11He came to his own, and his own received him not;He came unto his own, and his own received him not. He came to the things which were his and his people did not take him to their hearts.
John 1:12but as many as received him, to them gave he [the] right to be children of God, to those that believe on his name; But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: To all those who did so take him, however, he gave the right of becoming children of God that is, to those who had faith in his name:

What sayest thou of thyself? Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? So they said to him, Who are you then?
