Matthew 21:1And when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, at the mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto mount Olivet, then Jesus sent two disciples,
Matthew 21:2saying to them, Go into the village over against you, and immediately ye will find an ass tied, and a colt with it; loose [them] and lead [them] to me.Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me. Saying to them: Go ye into the village that is over against you, and immediately you shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them and bring them to me.
Matthew 21:3And if any one say anything to you, ye shall say, The Lord has need of them, and straightway he will send them.And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them. And if any man shall say anything to you, say ye, that the Lord hath need of them: and forthwith he will let them go.
Matthew 21:4But all this came to pass, that that might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophet, saying,All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
Matthew 21:5Say to the daughter of Zion, Behold thy King cometh to thee, meek, and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of her that is used to the yoke.
Matthew 21:6But the disciples, having gone and done as Jesus had ordered them,And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And the disciples going, did as Jesus commanded them.
Matthew 21:7brought the ass and the colt and put their garments upon them, and he sat on them.And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And they brought the ass and the colt, and laid their garments upon them, and made him sit thereon.
Matthew 21:8But a very great crowd strewed their own garments on the way, and others kept cutting down branches from the trees and strewing them on the way.And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way: and others cut boughs from the trees, and strewed them in the way:
Matthew 21:9And the crowds who went before him and who followed cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed [be] he who comes in the name of [the] Lord; hosanna in the highest.And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And the multitudes that went before and that followed, cried, saying: Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest.
Matthew 21:10And as he entered into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying, Who is this?And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And when he was come into Jerusalem, the whole city was moved, saying: Who is this?
Matthew 21:11And the crowds said, This is Jesus the prophet who is from Nazareth of Galilee.And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. And the people said: This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth of Galilee.
Matthew 21:12And Jesus entered into the temple [of God], and cast out all that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those that sold the doves.And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the chairs of them that sold doves:
Matthew 21:13And he says to them, It is written, My house shall be called a house of prayer, but *ye* have made it a den of robbers.And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. And he saith to them: It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.
Matthew 21:14And blind and lame came to him in the temple, and he healed them.And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them. And there came to him the blind and the lame in the temple; and he healed them.
Matthew 21:15And when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders which he wrought, and the children crying in the temple and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were indignant,And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased, And the chief priests and scribes, seeing the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying: Hosanna to the son of David; were moved with indignation.
Matthew 21:16and said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus says to them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? And said to him: Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus said to them: Yea, have you never read: Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
Matthew 21:17And leaving them he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and there he passed the night.And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany; and he lodged there. And leaving them, he went out of the city into Bethania, and remained there.
Matthew 21:18But early in the morning, as he came back into the city, he hungered.Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And in the morning, returning into the city, he was hungry.
Matthew 21:19And seeing one fig-tree in the way, he came to it and found on it nothing but leaves only. And he says to it, Let there be never more fruit of thee for ever. And the fig-tree was immediately dried up.And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. And seeing a certain fig tree by the way side, he came to it, and found nothing on it but leaves only, and he saith to it: May no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And immediately the fig tree withered away.
Matthew 21:20And when the disciples saw [it], they wondered, saying, How immediately is the fig-tree dried up!And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! And the disciples seeing it wondered, saying: How is it presently withered away?
Matthew 21:21And Jesus answering said to them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only shall ye do what [is done] to the fig-tree, but even if ye should say to this mountain, Be thou taken away and be thou cast into the sea, it shall come to pass.Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And Jesus answering, said to them: Amen, I say to you, if you shall have faith, and stagger not, not only this of the fig tree shall you do, but also if you shall say to this mountain, Take up and cast thyself into the sea, it shall be done.
Matthew 21:22And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. And in all things whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.
Matthew 21:23And when he came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him [as he was] teaching, saying, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority?And when he was come into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority? And when he was come into the temple, there came to him, as he was teaching, the chief priests and ancients of the people, saying: By what authority dost thou these things? and who hath given thee this authority?
Matthew 21:24And Jesus answering said to them, *I* also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, *I* also will tell you by what authority I do these things:And Jesus answered and said unto them, I also will ask you one thing, which if ye tell me, I in like wise will tell you by what authority I do these things. Jesus answering, said to them: I also will ask you one word, which if you shall tell me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things.
Matthew 21:25The baptism of John, whence was it? of heaven or of men? And they reasoned among themselves, saying, If we should say, Of heaven, he will say to us, Why then have ye not believed him?The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him? The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven or from men? But they thought within themselves, saying:
Matthew 21:26but if we should say, Of men, we fear the crowd, for all hold John for a prophet.But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. If we shall say, from heaven, he will say to us: Why then did you not believe him? But if we shall say, from men, we are afraid of the multitude: for all held John as a prophet.
Matthew 21:27And answering Jesus they said, We do not know. *He* also said to them, Neither do *I* tell you by what authority I do these things.And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. And answering Jesus, they said: We know not. He also said to them: Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Matthew 21:28But what think ye? A man had two children, and coming to the first he said, Child, go to-day, work in [my] vineyard.But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. But what think you? A certain man had two sons; and coming to the first, he said: Son, go work to day in my vineyard.
Matthew 21:29And he answering said, I will not; but afterwards repenting himself he went.He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he answering, said: I will not. But afterwards, being moved with repentance, he went.
Matthew 21:30And coming to the second he said likewise; and he answering said, *I* [go], sir, and went not.And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. And coming to the other, he said in like manner. And he answering, said: I go, Sir; and he went not.
Matthew 21:31Which of the two did the will of the father? They say [to him], The first. Jesus says to them, Verily I say unto you that the tax-gatherers and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. Which of the two did the father's will? They say to him: The first. Jesus saith to them: Amen I say to you, that the publicans and the harlots shall go into the kingdom of God before you.
Matthew 21:32For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not; but the tax-gatherers and the harlots believed him; but *ye* when ye saw [it] repented not yourselves afterwards to believe him.For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him. For John came to you in the way of justice, and you did not believe him. But the publicans and the harlots believed him: but you, seeing it, did not even afterwards repent, that you might believe him.
Matthew 21:33Hear another parable: There was a householder who planted a vineyard, and made a fence round it, and dug a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and left the country.Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country: Hear ye another parable. There was a man an householder, who planted a vineyard, and made a hedge round about it, and dug in it a press, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen; and went into a strange country.
Matthew 21:34But when the time of fruit drew near, he sent his bondmen to the husbandmen to receive his fruits.And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. And when the time of the fruits drew nigh, he sent his servants to the husbandmen that they might receive the fruits thereof.
Matthew 21:35And the husbandmen took his bondmen, and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. And the husbandmen laying hands on his servants, beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
Matthew 21:36Again he sent other bondmen more than the first, and they did to them in like manner.Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. Again he sent other servants more than the former; and they did to them in like manner.
Matthew 21:37And at last he sent to them his son, saying, They will have respect for my son.But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. And last of all he sent to them his son, saying: They will reverence my son.
Matthew 21:38But the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him and possess his inheritance.But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. But the husbandmen seeing the son, said among themselves: This is the heir: come, let us kill him, and we shall have his inheritance.
Matthew 21:39And they took him, and cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him. And taking him, they cast him forth out of the vineyard, and killed him.
Matthew 21:40When therefore the lord of the vineyard comes, what shall he do to those husbandmen?When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen? When therefore the lord of the vineyard shall come, what will he do to those husbandmen?
Matthew 21:41They say to him, He will miserably destroy those evil [men], and let out the vineyard to other husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons. They say to him: He will bring those evil men to an evil end; and will let out his vineyard to other husbandmen, that shall render him the fruit in due season.
Matthew 21:42Jesus says to them, Have ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which they that builded rejected, this has become the corner-stone: this is of [the] Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes?Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? Jesus saith to them: Have you never read in the Scriptures: The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? By the Lord this has been done; and it is wonderful in our eyes.
Matthew 21:43Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you and shall be given to a nation producing the fruits of it.Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Therefore I say to you, that the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and shall be given to a nation yielding the fruits thereof.
Matthew 21:44And he that falls on this stone shall be broken, but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. And whosoever shall fall on this stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it shall grind him to powder.
Matthew 21:45And the chief priests and the Pharisees, having heard his parables, knew that he spoke about them.And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they knew that he spoke of them.
Matthew 21:46And seeking to lay hold of him, they were afraid of the crowds, because they held him for a prophet.But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet. And seeking to lay hands on him, they feared the multitudes: because they held him as a prophet.
