| Matthew 2:1 | Now Jesus having been born in Bethlehem of Judaea, in the days of Herod the king, behold magi from the east arrived at Jerusalem, saying, | Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, | Now after the birth of Jesus, which took place at Bethlehem in Judaea in the reign of King Herod, excitement was produced in Jerusalem by the arrival of certain Magi from the east, |
| Matthew 2:2 | Where is the king of the Jews that has been born? for we have seen his star in the east, and have come to do him homage. | Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. | inquiring, "Where is the newly born king of the Jews? | Matthew 2:7 | Then Herod, having secretly called the magi, inquired of them accurately the time of the star that was appearing; | Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. | Thereupon Herod sent privately for the Magi and ascertained from them the exact time of the star's appearing. |

For Herod is about to make search for the child in order to destroy Him." |
