Romans 5:1Therefore having been justified on the principle of faith, we have peace towards God through our Lord Jesus Christ;Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: Standing then acquitted as the result of faith, let us enjoy peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Romans 5:2by whom we have also access by faith into this favour in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. through whom also, as the result of faith, we have obtained an introduction into that state of favour with God in which we stand, and we exult in hope of some day sharing in God's glory.
Romans 5:3And not only [that], but we also boast in tribulations, knowing that tribulation works endurance;And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And not only so: we also exult in our sufferings, knowing as we do, that suffering produces fortitude;
Romans 5:4and endurance, experience; and experience, hope;And patience, experience; and experience, hope: fortitude, ripeness of character; and ripeness of character, hope;
Romans 5:5and hope does not make ashamed, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by [the] Holy Spirit which has been given to us:And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. and that this hope never disappoints, because God's love for us floods our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Romans 5:6for we being still without strength, in [the] due time Christ has died for [the] ungodly.For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For already, while we were still helpless, Christ at the right moment died for the ungodly.
Romans 5:7For scarcely for [the] just [man] will one die, for perhaps for [the] good [man] some one might also dare to die;For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. Why, it is scarcely conceivable that any one would die for a simply just man, although for a good and lovable man perhaps some one, here and there, will have the courage even to lay down his life.
Romans 5:8but God commends *his* love to us, in that, we being still sinners, Christ has died for us.But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. But God gives proof of His love to us in Christ's dying for us while we were still sinners.
Romans 5:9Much rather therefore, having been now justified in [the power of] his blood, we shall be saved by him from wrath.Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. If therefore we have now been pronounced free from guilt through His blood, much more shall we be delivered from God's anger through Him.
Romans 5:10For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in [the power of] his life.For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. For if while we were hostile to God we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, it is still more certain that now that we are reconciled, we shall obtain salvation through Christ's life.
Romans 5:11And not only [that], but [we are] making our boast in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom now we have received the reconciliation.And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. And not only so, but we also exult in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now obtained that reconciliation.
Romans 5:12For this [cause], even as by one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death; and thus death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: What follows? This comparison. Through one man sin entered into the world, and through sin death, and so death passed to all mankind in turn, in that all sinned.
Romans 5:13(for until law sin was in [the] world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law;(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. For prior to the Law sin was already in the world; only it is not entered in the account against us when no Law exists.
Romans 5:14but death reigned from Adam until Moses, even upon those who had not sinned in the likeness of Adam's transgression, who is [the] figure of him to come.Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. Yet Death reigned as king from Adam to Moses even over those who had not sinned, as Adam did, against Law. And in Adam we have a type of Him whose coming was still future.
Romans 5:15But [shall] not the act of favour [be] as the offence? For if by the offence of one the many have died, much rather has the grace of God, and the free gift in grace, which [is] by the one man Jesus Christ, abounded unto the many.But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. But God's free gift immeasurably outweighs the transgression. For if through the transgression of the one individual the mass of mankind have died, infinitely greater is the generosity with which God's grace, and the gift given in His grace which found expression in the one man Jesus Christ, have been bestowed on the mass of mankind.
Romans 5:16And [shall] not as by one that has sinned [be] the gift? For the judgment [was] of one to condemnation, but the act of favour, of many offences unto justification.And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. And it is not with the gift as it was with the results of one individual's sin; for the judgement which one individual provoked resulted in condemnation, whereas the free gift after a multitude of transgressions results in acquittal.
Romans 5:17For if by the offence of the one death reigned by the one, much rather shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the free gift of righteousness, reign in life by the one Jesus Christ:)For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) For if, through the transgression of the one individual, Death made use of the one individual to seize the sovereignty, all the more shall those who receive God's overflowing grace and gift of righteousness reign as kings in Life through the one individual, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:18so then as [it was] by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. It follows then that just as the result of a single transgression is a condemnation which extends to the whole race, so also the result of a single decree of righteousness is a life-giving acquittal which extends to the whole race.
Romans 5:19For as indeed by the disobedience of the one man the many have been constituted sinners, so also by the obedience of the one the many will be constituted righteous.For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. For as through the disobedience of the one individual the mass of mankind were constituted sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the mass of mankind will be constituted righteous.
Romans 5:20But law came in, in order that the offence might abound; but where sin abounded grace has overabounded,Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: Now Law was brought in later on, so that transgression might increase. But where sin increased, grace has overflowed;
Romans 5:21in order that, even as sin has reigned in [the power of] death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. in order that as sin has exercised kingly sway in inflicting death, so grace, too, may exercise kingly sway in bestowing a righteousness which results in the Life of the Ages through Jesus Christ our Lord.
