Hebrews 13:1 | Let brotherly love abide. | Let brotherly love continue. | Let brotherly love continue. |
Hebrews 13:2 | Be not forgetful of hospitality; for by it some have unawares entertained angels. | Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. | Don't forget to show hospitality to strangers, for in doing so, some have entertained angels without knowing it. |
Hebrews 13:3 | Remember prisoners, as bound with [them]; those that are evil-treated, as being yourselves also in [the] body. | Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. | Remember those who are in bonds, as bound with them; and those who are ill-treated, since you are also in the body. |
Hebrews 13:4 | [Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge. | Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. | Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. |
Hebrews 13:5 | [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee. | Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. | Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, "I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you." |
Hebrews 13:6 | So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me? | So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | So that with good courage we say, "The Lord is my helper. I will not fear. What will man do to me?" |
Hebrews 13:7 | Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith. | Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation. | Remember your leaders, men who spoke to you the word of God, and considering the results of their conduct, imitate their faith. |
Hebrews 13:8 | Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to-day, and to the ages [to come]. | Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. | Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. |
Hebrews 13:9 | Be not carried away with various and strange doctrines; for [it is] good that the heart be confirmed with grace, not meats; those who have walked in which have not been profited by [them]. | Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. | Don't be carried away by various and strange teachings, for it is good that the heart be established by grace, not by food, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited. |
Hebrews 13:10 | We have an altar of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle; | We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle. | We have an altar from which those who serve the holy tent have no right to eat. |
Hebrews 13:11 | for of those beasts whose blood is carried [as sacrifices for sin] into the [holy of] holies by the high priest, of these the bodies are burned outside the camp. | For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. | For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest as an offering for sin, are burned outside of the camp. |
Hebrews 13:12 | Wherefore also Jesus, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate: | Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. | Therefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered outside of the gate. |
Hebrews 13:13 | therefore let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach: | Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. | Let us therefore go forth to him outside of the camp, bearing his reproach. |
Hebrews 13:14 | for we have not here an abiding city, but we seek the coming one. | For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. | For we don't have here an enduring city, but we seek that which is to come. |
Hebrews 13:15 | By him therefore let us offer [the] sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, [the] fruit of [the] lips confessing his name. | By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. | Through him, then, let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name. |
Hebrews 13:16 | But of doing good and communicating [of your substance] be not forgetful, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | But don't forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. |
Hebrews 13:17 | Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you. | Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. | Obey those who have the rule over you, and submit to them, for they watch on behalf of your souls, as those who will give account, that they may do this with joy, and not with groaning, for that would be unprofitable for you. |
Hebrews 13:18 | Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly. | Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. | Pray for us, for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things. |
Hebrews 13:19 | But I much more beseech [you] to do this, that I may the more quickly be restored to you. | But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. | I strongly urge you to do this, that I may be restored to you sooner. |
Hebrews 13:20 | But the God of peace, who brought again from among [the] dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, in [the power of the] blood of [the] eternal covenant, | Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, | Now may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, our Lord Jesus, |
Hebrews 13:21 | perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen. | Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. | make you complete in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. |
Hebrews 13:22 | But I beseech you, brethren, bear the word of exhortation, for it is but in few words that I have written to you. | And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words. | But I exhort you, brothers, endure the word of exhortation, for I have written to you in few words. |
Hebrews 13:23 | Know that our brother Timotheus is set at liberty; with whom, if he should come soon, I will see you. | Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. | Know that our brother Timothy has been freed, with whom, if he comes shortly, I will see you. |
Hebrews 13:24 | Salute all your leaders, and all the saints. They from Italy salute you. | Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. | Greet all of your leaders and all the saints. The Italians Greet you. |
Hebrews 13:25 | Grace [be] with you all. Amen. | Grace be with you all. Amen. | Grace be with you all. Amen. |
