Luke 9:1And having called together the twelve, he gave them power and authority over all demons, and to heal diseases,Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. Luke 9:5And as many as may not receive you, going forth from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a witness against them.And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. As many as don't receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them."

Luke 9:10And the apostles having returned related to him whatever they had done. And he took them and withdrew apart into [a desert place of] a city called Bethsaida.And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. Luke 9:11But the crowds knowing [it] followed him; and he received them and spake to them of the kingdom of God, and cured those that had need of healing.And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing. But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and he cured those who needed healing.
Luke 9:12But the day began to decline, and the twelve came and said to him, Send away the crowd that they may go into the villages around, and [into] the fields, and lodge and find victuals, for here we are in a desert place.And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place. The day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said to him, "Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get provisions, for we are here in a desert place."
Luke 9:13And he said to them, Give *ye them to eat. And they said, We have not more than five loaves and two fishes, unless *we* should go and buy food for all this people;But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people. But he said to them, "You give them something to eat." They said, "We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people."
Luke 9:14for they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down in companies by fifties.For they were about five thousand men. Luke 9:18And it came to pass as he was praying alone, his disciples were with him, and he asked them saying, Who do the crowds say that I am?And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? It happened, as he was praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he asked them, "Who do the multitudes say that I am?"
Luke 9:19But they answering said, John the baptist; but others, Elias; and others, that one of the old prophets has risen again.They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again. They answered, "'John the Baptizer,' but others say, 'Elijah,' and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again."
Luke 9:20And he said to them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am? And Peter answering said, The Christ of God.He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered, "The Christ of God."
Luke 9:21But, earnestly charging them, he enjoined [them] to say this to no man,And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing; But he warned them, and commanded them to tell this to no one,
Luke 9:22saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day. saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up."
Luke 9:23And he said to [them] all, If any one will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me;And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Luke 9:24for whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it, but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, *he* shall save it.For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it.
Luke 9:25For what shall a man profit if he shall have gained the whole world, and have destroyed, or come under the penalty of the loss of himself?For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away? For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?
Luke 9:26For whosoever shall have been ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of man be ashamed when he shall come in his glory, and [in that] of the Father, and of the holy angels.For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels. For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in the glory of himself, of the Father, and of the holy angels.
Luke 9:27But I say unto you of a truth, There are some of those standing here who shall not taste death until they shall have seen the kingdom of God.But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God. But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here, who will in no way taste of death, until they see the kingdom of God."
Luke 9:28And it came to pass after these words, about eight days, that taking Peter and John and James he went up into a mountain to pray.And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. It happened about eight days after these sayings, that he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray.
Luke 9:29And as he prayed the fashion of his countenance became different and his raiment white [and] effulgent.And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling.
Luke 9:30And lo, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elias,And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Behold, two men talked with him, who were Moses and Elijah,
Luke 9:31who, appearing in glory, spoke of his departure which he was about to accomplish in Jerusalem.Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.
Luke 9:32But Peter and those with him were oppressed with sleep: but having fully awoke up they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. Luke 9:33And it came to pass as they departed from him, Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here; and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said. It happened, as they were parting from him, that Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is good for us to be here. Let's make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah," not knowing what he said.
Luke 9:34But as he was saying these things, there came a cloud and overshadowed them, and they feared as they entered into the cloud:While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.
Luke 9:35and there was a voice out of the cloud saying, *This* is my beloved Son: hear him.And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. A voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!"
Luke 9:36And as the voice was [heard] Jesus was found alone: and *they* kept silence, and told no one in those days any of the things they had seen.And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen. When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.
Luke 9:37And it came to pass on the following day, when they came down from the mountain, a great crowd met him.And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. It happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met him.
Luke 9:38And lo, a man from the crowd cried out saying, Teacher, I beseech thee look upon my son, for he is mine only child:And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child. Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, "Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child.
Luke 9:39and behold, a spirit takes him, and suddenly he cries out, and it tears him with foaming, and with difficulty departs from him after crushing him.And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely.
Luke 9:40And I besought thy disciples that they might cast him out, and they could not.And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn't."
Luke 9:41And Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverted generation, how long shall I be with you and suffer you? Bring hither thy son.And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. Jesus answered, "Faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here."
Luke 9:42But as he was yet coming, the demon tore him and dragged him all together. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child and gave him back to his father.And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father. While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.
Luke 9:43And all were astonished at the glorious greatness of God. And as all wondered at all the things which [Jesus] did, he said to his disciples,And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, They were all astonished at the majesty of God. But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,
Luke 9:44Do *ye* let these words sink into your ears. For the Son of man is about to be delivered into men's hands.Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. "Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men."
Luke 9:45But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them that they should not perceive it. And they feared to ask him concerning this saying.But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying. But they didn't understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.
Luke 9:46And a reasoning came in amongst them, who should be [the] greatest of them.Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest. There arose an argument among them about which of them was the greatest.
Luke 9:47And Jesus, seeing the reasoning of their heart, having taken a little child set it by him,And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their heart, took a little child, and set him by his side,
Luke 9:48and said to them, Whosoever shall receive this little child in my name receives me, and whosoever shall receive me receives him that sent me. For he who is the least among you all, *he* is great.And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. and said to them, "Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great."
Luke 9:49And John answering said, Master, we saw some one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbad him, because he follows not with us.And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. John answered, "Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he doesn't follow with us."
Luke 9:50And Jesus said to him, Forbid [him] not, for he that is not against you is for you.And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. Jesus said to him, "Don't forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us."
Luke 9:51And it came to pass when the days of his receiving up were fulfilled, that *he* stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem.And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem,

Luke 9:54And his disciples James and John seeing [it] said, Lord, wilt thou that we speak [that] fire come down from heaven and consume them, as also Elias did?And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, "Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky, and destroy them, just as Elijah did?"
Luke 9:55But turning he rebuked them [and said, Ye know not of what spirit ye are].But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. But he turned and rebuked them, "You don't know what kind of spirit you are of.
Luke 9:56And they went to another village.For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village. For the Son of Man didn't come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." They went to another village.
Luke 9:57And it came to pass as they went in the way, one said to him, I will follow thee wheresoever thou goest, Lord.And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, "I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord."
Luke 9:58And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes and the birds of the heaven roosting-places, but the Son of man has not where he may lay his head.And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head. Jesus said to him, "The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head."
Luke 9:59And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me to go first and bury my father.And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. He said to another, "Follow me." But he said, "Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father."
Luke 9:60But Jesus said to him, Suffer the dead to bury their own dead, but do *thou* go and announce the kingdom of God.Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God. But Jesus said to him, "Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce the kingdom of God."
Luke 9:61And another also said, I will follow thee, Lord, but first allow me to bid adieu to those at my house.And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. Another also said, "I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to bid farewell to those who are at my house."
Luke 9:62But Jesus said to him, No one having laid his hand on [the] plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."
