Hebrews 13:1 | Let brotherly love abide. | Let brotherly love continue. | Let brotherly love always continue. |
Hebrews 13:2 | Be not forgetful of hospitality; for by it some have unawares entertained angels. | Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for by this some have entertained angels unawares. | Do not neglect to show kindness to strangers; for, in this way, some, without knowing it, have had angels as their guests. |
Hebrews 13:3 | Remember prisoners, as bound with [them]; those that are evil-treated, as being yourselves also in [the] body. | Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body. | Remember prisoners, as if you were in prison with them; and remember those suffering ill-treatment, for you yourselves also are still in the body. |
Hebrews 13:4 | [Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge. | Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but lewd persons and adulterers God will judge. | Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be unpolluted; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
Hebrews 13:5 | [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee. | Let your manner of life be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. | Your lives should be untainted by love for money. Be content with what you have; for God Himself has said, "I will never, never let go your hand: I will never never forsake you." |
Hebrews 13:6 | So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me? | So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me. | So that we fearlessly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid: what can man do to me?" |
Hebrews 13:7 | Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith. | Remember them who have the rule over you, who have spoken to you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their manner of life. | Remember your former leaders it was they who brought you God's Message. Bear in mind how they ended their lives, and imitate their faith. |
Hebrews 13:8 | Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to-day, and to the ages [to come]. | Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever. | Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day yes, and to the ages to come. |
Hebrews 13:9 | Be not carried away with various and strange doctrines; for [it is] good that the heart be confirmed with grace, not meats; those who have walked in which have not been profited by [them]. | Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines: for it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied in them. | Do not be drawn aside by all sorts of strange teaching; for it is well to have the heart made stedfast through God's grace, and not by special kinds of food, from which those who scrupulously attend to them have derived no benefit. |
Hebrews 13:10 | We have an altar of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle; | We have an altar, of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle. | We Christians have an altar from which the ministers of the Jewish Tent have no right to eat. |
Hebrews 13:11 | for of those beasts whose blood is carried [as sacrifices for sin] into the [holy of] holies by the high priest, of these the bodies are burned outside the camp. | For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. | For the bodies of those animals of which the blood is carried by the High Priest into the Holy place as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. |
Hebrews 13:12 | Wherefore also Jesus, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate: | Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. | And for this reason Jesus also, in order, by His own blood, to set the people free from sin, suffered outside the gate. |
Hebrews 13:13 | therefore let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach: | Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach. | Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, sharing the insults directed against Him. |
Hebrews 13:14 | for we have not here an abiding city, but we seek the coming one. | For here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come. | For we have no permanent city here, but we are longing for the city which is soon to be ours. |
Hebrews 13:15 | By him therefore let us offer [the] sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, [the] fruit of [the] lips confessing his name. | By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to his name. | Through Him, then, let us continually lay on the altar a sacrifice of praise to God, namely, the utterance of lips that give thanks to His Name. |
Hebrews 13:16 | But of doing good and communicating [of your substance] be not forgetful, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | But to do good, and to communicate, forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | And do not forget to be kind and liberal; for with sacrifices of that sort God is greatly pleased. |
Hebrews 13:17 | Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you. | Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. | Obey your leaders and be submissive to them. For they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will have to give account; that they may do this with joy and not with lamentation. For that would be of no advantage to you. |
Hebrews 13:18 | Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly. | Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly. | Keep on praying for us; for we are sure that we have clear consciences, and we desire to live nobly in every respect. |
Hebrews 13:19 | But I much more beseech [you] to do this, that I may the more quickly be restored to you. | But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. | I specially urge this upon you in order that I may be the more speedily restored to you. |
Hebrews 13:20 | But the God of peace, who brought again from among [the] dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, in [the power of the] blood of [the] eternal covenant, | Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, | Now may God who gives peace, and brought Jesus, our Lord, up again from among the dead even Him who, by virtue of the blood of the eternal Covenant, is the great Shepherd of the sheep |
Hebrews 13:21 | perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen. | Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. | fully equip you with every grace that you may need for the doing of His will, producing in us that which will truly please Him through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory to the Ages of the Ages! Amen. |
Hebrews 13:22 | But I beseech you, brethren, bear the word of exhortation, for it is but in few words that I have written to you. | And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter to you in few words. | Bear with me, brethren, when I thus exhort you; for, in fact, it is but a short letter that I have written to you. |
Hebrews 13:23 | Know that our brother Timotheus is set at liberty; with whom, if he should come soon, I will see you. | Know ye, that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. | You will rejoice to hear that our brother Timothy has been set at liberty. If he comes soon, I will see you with him. |
Hebrews 13:24 | Salute all your leaders, and all the saints. They from Italy salute you. | Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. | Greet all your leaders and all God's people. The brethren from Italy send you greetings. |
Hebrews 13:25 | Grace [be] with you all. Amen. | Grace be with you all. Amen. | Grace be with you all! Amen. |
