Titus 2:1 | But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching; | But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: | But say the things which fit the sound doctrine, |
Titus 2:2 | that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience; | That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience; | that older men should be temperate, sensible, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, and in patience: |
Titus 2:3 | that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right; | The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; | and that older women likewise be reverent in behavior, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of that which is good; |
Titus 2:4 | that they may admonish the young women to be attached to [their] husbands, to be attached to [their] children, | That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, | that they may train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, |
Titus 2:5 | discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of. | To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. | to be sober-minded, chaste, workers at home, kind, being in subjection to their own husbands, that God's word may not be blasphemed. |
Titus 2:6 | The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet: | Young men likewise exhort to be sober-minded. | Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober-minded; |
Titus 2:7 | in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity, | In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing incorruptness, gravity, sincerity, | in all things showing yourself an example of good works; in your teaching showing integrity, seriousness, incorruptibility, |
Titus 2:8 | a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us: | Sound speech that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say concerning you. | and soundness of speech that can't be condemned; that he who opposes you may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us. |
Titus 2:9 | bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying; | Exhort servants to be obedient to their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; | Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters, and to be well-pleasing in all things; not contradicting; |
Titus 2:10 | not robbing [their masters], but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which [is] of our Saviour God in all things. | Not purloining, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things. | not stealing, but showing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things. |
Titus 2:11 | For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared, | For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, | For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, |
Titus 2:12 | teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things, | Teaching us, that denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and piously, in this present world; | instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; |
Titus 2:13 | awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; | Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God, and our Savior Jesus Christ; | looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ; |
Titus 2:14 | who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works. | Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. | who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good works. |
Titus 2:15 | These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee. | These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee. | Say these things and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise you. |
