Titus 1:1Paul, bondman of God, and apostle of Jesus Christ according to [the] faith of God's elect, and knowledge of [the] truth which [is] according to piety;Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is according to godliness;Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of the choice ones of God, and an acknowledging of truth that [is] according to piety,
Titus 1:2in [the] hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time,In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the world began;upon hope of life age-during, which God, who doth not lie, did promise before times of ages,
Titus 1:3but has manifested in its own due season his word, in [the] proclamation with which *I* have been entrusted, according to [the] commandment of our Saviour God;But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;(and He manifested in proper times His word,) in preaching, which I was entrusted with, according to a charge of God our Saviour,
Titus 1:4to Titus, my own child according to [the] faith common [to us]: Grace and peace from God [the] Father, and Christ Jesus our Saviour.To Titus, my own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.to Titus true child according to a common faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour!
Titus 1:5For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou mightest go on to set right what remained [unordered], and establish elders in each city, as *I* had ordered thee:For this cause I left thee in Crete, that thou shouldst set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:For this cause left I thee in Crete, that the things lacking thou mayest arrange, and mayest set down in every city elders, as I did appoint to thee;
Titus 1:6if any one be free from all charge [against him], husband of one wife, having believing children not accused of excess or unruly.If any is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children, not accused of riot, or disorderly.if any one is blameless, of one wife a husband, having children stedfast, not under accusation of riotous living or insubordinate
Titus 1:7For the overseer must be free from all charge [against him] as God's steward; not headstrong, not passionate, not disorderly through wine, not a striker, not seeking gain by base means;For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;for it behoveth the overseer to be blameless, as God`s steward, not self-pleased, nor irascible, not given to wine, not a striker, not given to filthy lucre;
Titus 1:8but hospitable, a lover of goodness, discreet, just, pious, temperate,But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;but a lover of strangers, a lover of good men, sober-minded, righteous, kind, self-controlled,
Titus 1:9clinging to the faithful word according to the doctrine taught, that he may be able both to encourage with sound teaching and refute gainsayers.Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.holding according to the teaching to the stedfast word, that he may be able also to exhort in the sound teaching, and the gainsayers to convict;
Titus 1:10For there are many and disorderly vain speakers and deceivers of people's minds, specially those of [the] circumcision,For there are many disorderly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:for there are many both insubordinate, vain-talkers, and mind-deceivers especially they of the circumcision
Titus 1:11who must have their mouths stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which ought not [to be taught] for the sake of base gain.Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of sordid gain.whose mouth it behoveth to stop, who whole households do overturn, teaching what things it behoveth not, for filthy lucre`s sake.
Titus 1:12One of themselves, a prophet of their own, has said, Cretans are always liars, evil wild beasts, lazy gluttons.One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.A certain one of them, a prophet of their own, said `Cretans! always liars, evil beasts, lazy bellies!`
Titus 1:13This testimony is true; for which cause rebuke them severely, that they may be sound in the faith,This testimony is true: wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;this testimony is true; for which cause convict them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
Titus 1:14not turning [their] minds to Jewish fables and commandments of men turning away from the truth.Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men that turn from the truth.not giving heed to Jewish fables and commands of men, turning themselves away from the truth;
Titus 1:15All things [are] pure to the pure; but to the defiled and unbelieving nothing [is] pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.To the pure all things are pure: but to them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.all things, indeed, [are] pure to the pure, and to the defiled and unstedfast [is] nothing pure, but of them defiled [are] even the mind and the conscience;
Titus 1:16They profess to know God, but in works deny [him], being abominable, and disobedient, and found worthless as to every good work.They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and to every good work reprobate.God they profess to know, and in the works they deny [Him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work disapproved.
