Hebrews 13:1 | Let brotherly love abide. | Let brotherly love always continue. | Let love of the brethren continue. |
Hebrews 13:2 | Be not forgetful of hospitality; for by it some have unawares entertained angels. | Do not neglect to show kindness to strangers; for, in this way, some, without knowing it, have had angels as their guests. | Forget not to show love unto strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. |
Hebrews 13:3 | Remember prisoners, as bound with [them]; those that are evil-treated, as being yourselves also in [the] body. | Remember prisoners, as if you were in prison with them; and remember those suffering ill-treatment, for you yourselves also are still in the body. | Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; them that are illtreated, as being yourselves also in the body. |
Hebrews 13:4 | [Let] marriage [be held] every way in honour, and the bed [be] undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers will God judge. | Let marriage be held in honour among all, and let the marriage bed be unpolluted; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. | [Let] marriage [be] had in honor among all, and [let] the bed [be] undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
Hebrews 13:5 | [Let your] conversation [be] without love of money, satisfied with [your] present circumstances; for *he* has said, I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee. | Your lives should be untainted by love for money. Be content with what you have; for God Himself has said, "I will never, never let go your hand: I will never never forsake you." | Be ye free from the love of money; content with such things as ye have: for himself hath said, I will in no wise fail thee, neither will I in any wise forsake thee. |
Hebrews 13:6 | So that, taking courage, we may say, The Lord [is] my helper, and I will not be afraid: what will man do unto me? | So that we fearlessly say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid: what can man do to me?" | So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me? |
Hebrews 13:7 | Remember your leaders who have spoken to you the word of God; and considering the issue of their conversation, imitate their faith. | Remember your former leaders it was they who brought you God's Message. Bear in mind how they ended their lives, and imitate their faith. | Remember them that had the rule over you, men that spake unto you the word of God; and considering the issue of their life, imitate their faith. |
Hebrews 13:8 | Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday, and to-day, and to the ages [to come]. | Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day yes, and to the ages to come. | Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday and to-day, [yea] and for ever. |
Hebrews 13:9 | Be not carried away with various and strange doctrines; for [it is] good that the heart be confirmed with grace, not meats; those who have walked in which have not been profited by [them]. | Do not be drawn aside by all sorts of strange teaching; for it is well to have the heart made stedfast through God's grace, and not by special kinds of food, from which those who scrupulously attend to them have derived no benefit. | Be not carried away by divers and strange teachings: for it is good that the heart be established by grace; not by meats, wherein they that occupied themselves were not profited. |
Hebrews 13:10 | We have an altar of which they have no right to eat who serve the tabernacle; | We Christians have an altar from which the ministers of the Jewish Tent have no right to eat. | We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat that serve the tabernacle. |
Hebrews 13:11 | for of those beasts whose blood is carried [as sacrifices for sin] into the [holy of] holies by the high priest, of these the bodies are burned outside the camp. | For the bodies of those animals of which the blood is carried by the High Priest into the Holy place as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. | For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the holy place by the high priest [as an offering] for sin, are burned without the camp. |
Hebrews 13:12 | Wherefore also Jesus, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate: | And for this reason Jesus also, in order, by His own blood, to set the people free from sin, suffered outside the gate. | Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people through his own blood, suffered without the gate. |
Hebrews 13:13 | therefore let us go forth to him without the camp, bearing his reproach: | Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp, sharing the insults directed against Him. | Let us therefore go forth unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach. |
Hebrews 13:14 | for we have not here an abiding city, but we seek the coming one. | For we have no permanent city here, but we are longing for the city which is soon to be ours. | For we have not here an abiding city, but we seek after [the city] which is to come. |
Hebrews 13:15 | By him therefore let us offer [the] sacrifice of praise continually to God, that is, [the] fruit of [the] lips confessing his name. | Through Him, then, let us continually lay on the altar a sacrifice of praise to God, namely, the utterance of lips that give thanks to His Name. | Through him then let us offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which make confession to his name. |
Hebrews 13:16 | But of doing good and communicating [of your substance] be not forgetful, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. | And do not forget to be kind and liberal; for with sacrifices of that sort God is greatly pleased. | But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. |
Hebrews 13:17 | Obey your leaders, and be submissive; for *they* watch over your souls as those that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you. | Obey your leaders and be submissive to them. For they are keeping watch over your souls as those who will have to give account; that they may do this with joy and not with lamentation. For that would be of no advantage to you. | Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit [to them]: for they watch in behalf of your souls, as they that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief: for this [were] unprofitable for you. |
Hebrews 13:18 | Pray for us: for we persuade ourselves that we have a good conscience, in all things desirous to walk rightly. | Keep on praying for us; for we are sure that we have clear consciences, and we desire to live nobly in every respect. | Pray for us: for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things. |
Hebrews 13:19 | But I much more beseech [you] to do this, that I may the more quickly be restored to you. | I specially urge this upon you in order that I may be the more speedily restored to you. | And I exhort [you] the more exceedingly to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner. |
Hebrews 13:20 | But the God of peace, who brought again from among [the] dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, in [the power of the] blood of [the] eternal covenant, | Now may God who gives peace, and brought Jesus, our Lord, up again from among the dead even Him who, by virtue of the blood of the eternal Covenant, is the great Shepherd of the sheep | Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep with the blood of an eternal covenant, [even] our Lord Jesus, |
Hebrews 13:21 | perfect you in every good work to the doing of his will, doing in you what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen. | fully equip you with every grace that you may need for the doing of His will, producing in us that which will truly please Him through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory to the Ages of the Ages! Amen. | make you perfect in every good thing to do his will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] the glory for ever and ever. Amen. |
Hebrews 13:22 | But I beseech you, brethren, bear the word of exhortation, for it is but in few words that I have written to you. | Bear with me, brethren, when I thus exhort you; for, in fact, it is but a short letter that I have written to you. | But I exhort you, brethren, bear with the word of exhortation, for I have written unto you in few words. |
Hebrews 13:23 | Know that our brother Timotheus is set at liberty; with whom, if he should come soon, I will see you. | You will rejoice to hear that our brother Timothy has been set at liberty. If he comes soon, I will see you with him. | Know ye that our brother Timothy hath been set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you. |
Hebrews 13:24 | Salute all your leaders, and all the saints. They from Italy salute you. | Greet all your leaders and all God's people. The brethren from Italy send you greetings. | Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you. |
Hebrews 13:25 | Grace [be] with you all. Amen. | Grace be with you all! Amen. | Grace be with you all. Amen. |
