Jude 1:1Jude, bondman of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to the called ones beloved in God [the] Father and preserved in Jesus Christ:Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James: To those who are in God the Father, enfolded in His love, and kept for Jesus Christ, and called.Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and the brother of James, to those of God's selection who have been made holy by God the Father and are kept safe for Jesus Christ:
Jude 1:2Mercy to you, and peace, and love be multiplied.May mercy, peace and love be abundantly granted to you.May mercy and peace and love be increased in you.
Jude 1:3Beloved, using all diligence to write to you of our common salvation, I have been obliged to write to you exhorting [you] to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the saints.Dear friends, since I am eager to begin a letter to you on the subject of our common salvation, I find myself constrained to write and cheer you on to the vigorous defense of the faith delivered once for all to God's people.My loved ones, while my thoughts were full of a letter which I was going to send you about our common salvation, it was necessary for me to send you one requesting you with all my heart to go on fighting strongly for the faith which has been given to the saints once and for ever.
Jude 1:4For certain men have got in unnoticed, they who of old were marked out beforehand to this sentence, ungodly [persons], turning the grace of our God into dissoluteness, and denying our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ.For certain persons have crept in unnoticed men spoken of in ancient writings as pre-destined to this condemnation ungodly men, who pervert the grace of our God into an excuse for immorality, and disown Jesus Christ, our only Sovereign and Lord.For certain men have come among you secretly, marked out before in the holy Writings for this evil fate, men without the fear of God, turning his grace into an unclean thing, and false to our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:5But I would put you in remembrance, you who once knew all things, that the Lord, having saved a people out of [the] land of Egypt, in the second place destroyed those who had not believed.I desire to remind you although the whole matter is already familiar to you that the Lord saved a people out of the land of Egypt, but afterwards destroyed those who had no faith.Now it is my purpose to put you in mind, though you once had knowledge of all these things, of how the Lord, having taken a people safely out of Egypt, later sent destruction on those who had no faith;
Jude 1:6And angels who had not kept their own original state, but had abandoned their own dwelling, he keeps in eternal chains under gloomy darkness, to [the] judgment of [the] great day;And angels those who did not keep the position originally assigned to them, but deserted their own proper abode He reserves in everlasting bonds, in darkness, in preparation for the judgement of the great day.And the angels who did not keep to their kingdom but went out from the place which was theirs, he has put in eternal chains and in dark night till the great day of the judging.
Jude 1:7as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities around them, committing greedily fornication, in like manner with them, and going after other flesh, lie there as an example, undergoing the judgment of eternal fire.So also Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighboring towns in the same manner having been guilty of gross fornication and having gone astray in pursuit of unnatural vice, are now before us as a specimen of the fire of the Ages in the punishment which they are undergoing.Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the towns near them, having like these, given themselves up to unclean desires and gone after strange flesh, have been made an example, undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.
Jude 1:8Yet in like manner these dreamers also defile [the] flesh, and despise lordship, and speak railingly against dignities.Yet in just the same way these dreamers also pollute the body, while they set authority at naught and speak evil of dignities.In the same way these dreamers make the flesh unclean, having no respect for authorities, and say evil of rulers.
Jude 1:9But Michael the archangel, when disputing with the devil he reasoned about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a railing judgment against [him], but said, [The] Lord rebuke thee.But Michael the Archangel, when contending with the Devil and arguing with him about the body of Moses, did not dare to pronounce judgement on him in abusive terms, but simply said, "The Lord rebuke you."Now when Michael, one of the chief angels, was fighting against the Evil One for the body of Moses, fearing to make use of violent words against him, he only said, May the Lord be your judge.
Jude 1:10But these, whatever things they know not, they speak railingly against; but what even, as the irrational animals, they understand by mere nature, in these things they corrupt themselves.Yet these men are abusive in matters of which they know nothing, and in things which, like the brutes, they understand instinctively in all these they corrupt themselves.But these men say evil about such things as they have no knowledge of; and the things of which they have natural knowledge, like beasts without reason, are the cause of their destruction.
Jude 1:11Woe to them! because they have gone in the way of Cain, and given themselves up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.Alas for them; for they have followed in the steps of Cain; for the sake of gain they have rushed on headlong in the evil ways of Balaam; and have perished in rebellion like that of Korah!A curse on them! They have gone in the way of Cain, running uncontrolled into the error of Balaam for reward, and have come to destruction by saying evil against the Lord, like Korah.
Jude 1:12These are spots in your love-feasts, feasting together [with you] without fear, pasturing themselves; clouds without water, carried along by [the] winds; autumnal trees, without fruit, twice dead, rooted up;These men sunken rocks! are those who share the pleasure of your love-feasts, unrestrained by fear while caring only for themselves; clouds without water, driven away by the winds; trees that cast their fruit, barren, doubly dead, uprooted;These men are unseen rocks at your love-feasts, when they take part in them with you, keepers of sheep who without fear take the food of the sheep; clouds without water rushing before the wind, wasted trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots,
Jude 1:13raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shames; wandering stars, to whom has been reserved the gloom of darkness for eternity.wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom is reserved dense darkness of age-long duration.Violent waves of the sea, streaming with their shame, wandering stars for whom the darkest night is kept in store for ever.
Jude 1:14And Enoch, [the] seventh from Adam, prophesied also as to these, saying, Behold, [the] Lord has come amidst his holy myriads,It was also about these that Enoch, who belonged to the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, "The Lord has come, attended by myriads of His people, to execute judgement upon all,The prophet Enoch, who was the seventh after Adam, said of these men, The Lord came with tens of thousands of his saints,
Jude 1:15to execute judgment against all; and to convict all the ungodly of them of all their works of ungodliness, which they have wrought ungodlily, and of all the hard [things] which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.and to convict all the ungodly of all the ungodly deeds which in their ungodliness they have committed, and of all the hard words which they, ungodly sinners as they are, have spoken against Him."To be the judge of all, and to give a decision against all those whose lives are unpleasing to him, because of the evil acts which they have done, and because of all the hard things which sinners without fear of God have said against him.
Jude 1:16These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their lusts; and their mouth speaks swelling words, admiring persons for the sake of profit.These men are murmurers, ever bemoaning their lot. Their lives are guided by their evil passions, and their mouths are full of big, boastful words, while they treat individual men with admiring reverence for the sake of the advantage they can gain.These are the men who make trouble, ever desiring change, going after evil pleasures, using high-sounding words, respecting men's position in the hope of reward.
Jude 1:17But *ye*, beloved, remember the words spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,But as for you, my dearly-loved friends, remember the words that before now were spoken by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus ChristBut you, my loved ones, keep in memory the words which were said before by the Apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Jude 1:18that they said to you, that at [the] end of the time there should be mockers, walking after their own lusts of ungodlinesses.how they declared to you, "In the last times there shall be scoffers, obeying only their own ungodly passions."How they said to you, In the last days there will be men who, guided by their evil desires, will make sport of holy things.
Jude 1:19These are they who set [themselves] apart, natural [men], not having [the] Spirit.These are those who cause divisions. They are men of the world, wholly unspiritual.These are the men who make divisions, natural men, not having the Spirit.
Jude 1:20But *ye*, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,But you, my dearly-loved friends, building yourselves up on the basis of your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,But you, my loved ones, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, and making prayers in the Holy Spirit,
Jude 1:21keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.must keep yourselves safe in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ which will result in the Life of the Ages.Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for life eternal through the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:22And of some have compassion, making a difference,Some, when they argue with you, you must endeavor to convince;And have pity on those who are in doubt;
Jude 1:23but others save with fear, snatching [them] out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.others you must try to save, as brands plucked from the flames; and on others look with pity mingled with fear, while you hate every trace of their sin.And to some give salvation, pulling them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the clothing which is made unclean by the flesh.
Jude 1:24But to him that is able to keep you without stumbling, and to set [you] with exultation blameless before his glory,But to Him who is able to keep you safe from stumbling, and cause you to stand in the presence of His glory free from blemish and full of exultant joyNow to him who is able to keep you from falling, and to give you a place in his glory, free from all evil, with great joy,
Jude 1:25to the only God our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord, [be] glory, majesty, might, and authority, from before the whole age, and now, and to all the ages. Amen.to the only God our Saviour through Jesus Christ our Lord, be ascribed glory, majesty, might, and authority, as it was before all time, is now, and shall be to all the Ages!
