Matthew 7:1 | Judge not, that ye may not be judged; | "Judge not, that you may not be judged; | Judge not, that you may not be judged, |
Matthew 7:2 | for with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged; and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you. | for your own judgement will be dealt and your own measure meted to yourselves. | For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again. |
Matthew 7:3 | But why lookest thou on the mote that is in the eye of thy brother, but observest not the beam that is in thine eye? | And why do you look at the splinter in your brother's eye, and not notice the beam which is in your own eye? | Any why seest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye; and seest not the beam that is in thy own eye? |
Matthew 7:4 | Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Allow [me], I will cast out the mote from thine eye; and behold, the beam is in thine eye? | Or how say to your brother, `Allow me to take the splinter out of your eye,' while the beam is in your own eye? | Or how sayest thou to thy brother: Let me cast the mote out of thy eye; and behold a beam is in thy own eye? |
Matthew 7:5 | Hypocrite, cast out first the beam out of thine eye, and then thou wilt see clearly to cast out the mote out of the eye of thy brother. | Hypocrite, first take the beam out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to remove the splinter from your brother's eye. | Thou hypocrite, cast out first the beam in thy own eye, and then shalt thou see to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. |
Matthew 7:6 | Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor cast your pearls before the swine, lest they trample them with their feet, and turning round rend you. | "Give not that which is holy to the dogs, nor throw your pearls to the swine; otherwise they will trample them under their feet and then turn and attack you. | Give not that which is holy to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you. |
Matthew 7:7 | Ask, and it shall be given to you. Seek, and ye shall find. Knock, and it shall be opened to you. | "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. | Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you. |
Matthew 7:8 | For every one that asks receives; and he that seeks finds; and to him that knocks it shall be opened. | For it is always he who asks that receives, he who seeks that finds, and he who knocks that has the door opened to him. | For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. |
Matthew 7:9 | Or what man is there of you who, if his son shall ask of him a loaf of bread, will give him a stone; | What man is there among you, who if his son shall ask him for bread will offer him a stone? | Or what man is there among you, of whom if his son shall ask bread, will he reach him a stone? |
Matthew 7:10 | and if he ask a fish, will give him a serpent? | Or if the son shall ask him for a fish will offer him a snake? | Or if he shall ask him a fish, will he reach him a serpent? |
Matthew 7:11 | If therefore *ye*, being wicked, know [how] to give good gifts to your children, how much rather shall your Father who is in the heavens give good things to them that ask of him? | If you then, imperfect as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give good things to those who ask Him! | If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children: how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him? |
Matthew 7:12 | Therefore all things whatever ye desire that men should do to you, thus do *ye* also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets. | Everything, therefore, be it what it may, that you would have men do to you, do you also the same to them; for in this the Law and the Prophets are summed up. | All things therefore whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do you also to them. For this is the law and the prophets. |
Matthew 7:13 | Enter in through the narrow gate, for wide the gate and broad the way that leads to destruction, and many are they who enter in through it. | "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad the road which leads to ruin, and many there are who enter by it; | Enter ye in at the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there are who go in thereat. |
Matthew 7:14 | For narrow the gate and straitened the way that leads to life, and they are few who find it. | because narrow is the gate and contracted the road which leads to Life, and few are those who find it. | How narrow is the gate, and strait is the way that leadeth to life: and few there are that find it! |
Matthew 7:15 | But beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but within are ravening wolves. | "Beware of the false teachers men who come to you in sheep's fleeces, but beneath that disguise they are ravenous wolves. | Beware of false prophets, who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. |
Matthew 7:16 | By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather a bunch of grapes from thorns, or from thistles figs? | By their fruits you will easily recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thorns or figs from brambles? | By their fruits you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? |
Matthew 7:17 | So every good tree produces good fruits, but the worthless tree produces bad fruits. | Just so every good tree produces good fruit, but a poisonous tree produces bad fruit. | Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. |
Matthew 7:18 | A good tree cannot produce bad fruits, nor a worthless tree produce good fruits. | A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor a poisonous tree good fruit. | A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. |
Matthew 7:19 | Every tree not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. | Every tree which does not yield good fruit is cut down and thrown aside for burning. | Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire. |
Matthew 7:20 | By their fruits then surely ye shall know them. | So by their fruits at any rate, you will easily recognize them. | Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. |
Matthew 7:21 | Not every one who says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but he that does the will of my Father who is in the heavens. | "Not every one who says to me, `Master, Master,' will enter the Kingdom of the Heavens, but only those who are obedient to my Father who is in Heaven. | Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. |
Matthew 7:22 | Many shall say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied through *thy* name, and through *thy* name cast out demons, and through *thy* name done many works of power? | Many will say to me on that day, "`Master, Master, have we not prophesied in Thy name, and in Thy name expelled demons, and in Thy name performed many mighty works?' | Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? |
Matthew 7:23 | and then will I avow unto them, I never knew you. Depart from me, workers of lawlessness. | "And then I will tell them plainly, "`I never knew you: begone from me, you doers of wickedness.' | And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity. |
Matthew 7:24 | Whoever therefore hears these my words and does them, I will liken him to a prudent man, who built his house upon the rock; | "Every one who hears these my teachings and acts upon them will be found to resemble a wise man who builds his house upon rock; | Every one therefore that heareth these my words, and doth them, shall be likened to a wise man that built his house upon a rock, |
Matthew 7:25 | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and fell upon that house, and it did not fall, for it had been founded upon the rock. | and the heavy rain falls, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and beat against the house; yet it does not fall, for its foundation is on rock. | And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded on a rock. |
Matthew 7:26 | And every one who hears these my words and does not do them, he shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand; | And every one who hears these my teachings and does not act upon them will be found to resemble a fool who builds his house upon sand. | And every one that heareth these my words, and doth them not, shall be like a foolish man that built his house upon the sand, |
Matthew 7:27 | and the rain came down, and the streams came, and the winds blew and beat upon that house, and it fell, and its fall was great. | The heavy rain descends, the swollen torrents come, and the winds blow and burst upon the house, and it falls; and disastrous is the fall." | And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and they beat upon that house, and it fell, and great was the fall thereof. |
Matthew 7:28 | And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his doctrine, | When Jesus had concluded this discourse, the crowds were filled with amazement at His teaching, | And it came to pass when Jesus had fully ended these words, the people were in admiration at his doctrine. |
Matthew 7:29 | for he taught them as having authority, and not as their scribes. | for He had been teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their Scribes taught. | For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes and Pharisees. |
