Titus 2:1But do *thou* speak the things that become sound teaching;But as for you, you must speak in a manner that befits wholesome teaching.But speak thou the things that become sound doctrine:
Titus 2:2that the elder men be sober, grave, discreet, sound in faith, in love, in patience;Exhort aged men to be temperate, grave, sober-minded, robust in their faith, their love and their patience.That the aged men be sober, chaste, prudent, sound in faith, in love, in patience.
Titus 2:3that the elder women in like manner be in deportment as becoming those who have to say to sacred things, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is right;In the same way exhort aged women to let their conduct be such as becomes consecrated persons. They must not be slanderers nor enslaved to wine-drinking. They must be teachers of what is right.The aged women, in like manner, in holy attire, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teaching well:
Titus 2:4that they may admonish the young women to be attached to [their] husbands, to be attached to [their] children,They should school the young women to be affectionate to their husbands and to their children, to be sober-minded, pure in their lives,That they may teach the young women to be wise, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Titus 2:5discreet, chaste, diligent in home work, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.industrious in their homes, kind, submissive to their husbands, so that the Christian teaching may not be exposed to reproach.To be discreet, chaste, sober, having a care of the house, gentle, obedient to their husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
Titus 2:6The younger men in like manner exhort to be discreet:In the same way exhort the younger men to be discreet,Young men, in like manner, exhort that they be sober.
Titus 2:7in all things affording thyself as a pattern of good works; in teaching uncorruptedness, gravity,and above all make your own life a pattern of right conduct, having in your teaching no taint of insincerity, but a serious tone,In all things shew thyself an example of good works, in doctrine, in integrity, in gravity,
Titus 2:8a sound word, not to be condemned; that he who is opposed may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say about us:and healthy language which no one can censure, so that our opponents may feel ashamed at having nothing evil to say against us.The sound word that can not be blamed: that he, who is on the contrary part, may be afraid, having no evil to say of us.
Titus 2:9bondmen to be subject to their own masters, to make themselves acceptable in everything; not gainsaying;Exhort slaves to be always obedient to their owners, and to give them satisfaction in everything, not contradicting and not pilfering,Exhort servants to be obedient to their masters, in all things pleasing, not gainsaying:
Titus 2:10not robbing [their masters], but shewing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the teaching which [is] of our Saviour God in all things.but manifesting perfect fidelity and kind feeling, in order to bring honour to the teaching of our Saviour, God, in all things.Not defrauding, but in all things shewing good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things:
Titus 2:11For the grace of God which carries with it salvation for all men has appeared,For the grace of God has displayed itself with healing power to all mankind,For the grace of God our Savior hath appeared to all men;
Titus 2:12teaching us that, having denied impiety and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, and justly, and piously in the present course of things,training us to renounce ungodliness and all the pleasures of this world, and to live sober, upright, and pious lives at the present time,Instructing us, that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and justly, and godly in this world,
Titus 2:13awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;in expectation of the fulfilment of our blessed hope the Appearing in glory of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;Looking for the blessed hope and coming of the glory of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ,
Titus 2:14who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all lawlessness, and purify to himself a peculiar people, zealous for good works.who gave Himself for us to purchase our freedom from all iniquity, and purify for Himself a people who should be specially His own, zealous for doing good works.Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and might cleanse to himself a people acceptable, a pursuer of good works.
Titus 2:15These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise thee.Thus speak, exhort, reprove, with all impressiveness. Let no one make light of your authority.These things speak, and exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
