John 7:1And after these things Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judaea, because the Jews sought to kill him. After this Jesus moved from place to place in Galilee. He would not go about in Judaea, because the Jews were seeking an opportunity to kill Him.After these things, Jesus walked in Galilee, for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
John 7:2Now the tabernacles, the feast of the Jews, was near. But the Jewish Festival of the Tent-Pitching was approaching. Now the feast of the Jews, the Feast of Booths, was at hand.
John 7:3His brethren therefore said to him, Remove hence and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see thy works which thou doest; So His brothers said to Him, "Leave these parts and go into Judaea, that not only we but your disciples also may witness the miracles which you perform. His brothers therefore said to him, "Depart from here, and go into Judea, that your disciples also may see your works which you do.
John 7:4for no one does anything in secret and himself seeks to be [known] in public. If thou doest these things, manifest thyself to the world:For no one acts in secret, desiring all the while to be himself known publicly. Since you are doing these things, show yourself openly to the world."For no man does anything in secret, and himself seeks to be known openly. If you do these things, reveal yourself to the world."
John 7:5for neither did his brethren believe on him.For even His brothers were not believers in Him.For even his brothers didn't believe in him.
John 7:6Jesus therefore says to them, My time is not yet come, but your time is always ready."My time," replied Jesus, "has not yet come, but for you any time is suitable.Jesus therefore said to them, "My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready.
John 7:7The world cannot hate you, but me it hates, because I bear witness concerning it that its works are evil.It is impossible for the world to hate you; but me it does hate, because I give testimony concerning it that its conduct is evil. The world can't hate you, but it hates me, because I testify about it, that its works are evil.
John 7:8Ye, go ye up to this feast. I go not up to this feast, for *my* time is not yet fulfilled. As for you, go up to the Festival. I do not now go up to this Festival, because my time is not yet fully come."You go up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because my time is not yet fulfilled."
John 7:9Having said these things to them he abode in Galilee.Such was His answer, and He remained in Galilee.Having said these things to them, he stayed in Galilee.
John 7:10But when his brethren had gone up, then he himself also went up to the feast, not openly, but as in secret. When however His brothers had gone up to the Festival, then He also went up, not openly, but as it were privately. But when his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly, but as it were in secret.
John 7:11The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?Meanwhile the Jews at the Festival were looking for Him and were inquiring, "Where is he?"The Jews therefore sought him at the feast, and said, "Where is he?"
John 7:12And there was much murmuring concerning him among the crowds. Some said, He is [a] good [man]; others said, No; but he deceives the crowd.Among the mass of the people there was much muttered debate about Him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so: he is imposing on the people."There was much murmuring among the multitudes concerning him. Some said, "He is a good man." Others said, "Not so, but he leads the multitude astray."
John 7:13However, no one spoke openly concerning him on account of [their] fear of the Jews.Yet for fear of the Jews no one spoke out boldly about Him.Yet no one spoke openly of him for fear of the Jews.
John 7:14But when it was now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught. But when the Festival was already half over, Jesus went up to the Temple and commenced teaching. But when it was now the midst of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
John 7:15The Jews therefore wondered, saying, How knows this [man] letters, having never learned? The Jews were astonished. "How does this man know anything of books," they said, "although he has never been at any of the schools?"The Jews therefore marveled, saying, "How does this man know letters, having never been educated?"
John 7:16Jesus therefore answered them and said, My doctrine is not mine, but [that] of him that has sent me.Jesus answered their question by saying, "My teaching does not belong to me, but comes from Him who sent me.Jesus therefore answered them, "My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.
John 7:17If any one desire to practise his will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is of God, or [that] I speak from myself. If any one is willing to do His will, he shall know about the teaching, whether it is from God or originates with me.If anyone desires to do his will, he will know of the teaching, whether it is from God, or if I speak from myself.
John 7:18He that speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but he that seeks the glory of him that has sent him, he is true, and unrighteousness is not in him.The man whose teaching originates with himself aims at his own glory. He who aims at the glory of Him who sent him teaches the truth, and there is no deception in him.He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory, but he who seeks the glory of him who sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
John 7:19Has not Moses given you the law, and no one of you practises the law? Why do ye seek to kill me?Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not a man of you obeys the Law. Why do you want to kill me?"Didn't Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill me?"
John 7:20The crowd answered [and said], Thou hast a demon: who seeks to kill thee?"You are possessed by a demon," replied the crowd; "no one wants to kill you."The multitude answered, "You have a demon! Who seeks to kill you?"
John 7:21Jesus answered and said to them, I have done one work, and ye all wonder."One deed I have done," replied Jesus, "and you are all full of wonder.Jesus answered them, "I did one work, and you all marvel because of it.
John 7:22Therefore Moses gave you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and ye circumcise a man on sabbath.Consider therefore. Moses gave you the rite of circumcision (not that it began with Moses, but with your earlier forefathers), and even on a Sabbath day you circumcise a child.Moses has given you circumcision (not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers), and on the Sabbath you circumcise a boy.
John 7:23If a man receives circumcision on sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be violated, are ye angry with me because I have made a man entirely sound on sabbath? If a child is circumcised even on a Sabbath day, are you bitter against me because I have restored a man to perfect health on a Sabbath day?If a boy receives circumcision on the Sabbath, that the law of Moses may not be broken, are you angry with me, because I made a man every bit whole on the Sabbath?
John 7:24Judge not according to sight, but judge righteous judgment.Do not form superficial judgements, but form the judgements that are just."Don't judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment."
John 7:25Some therefore of those of Jerusalem said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill? Some however of the people of Jerusalem said, "Is not this the man they are wanting to kill? Some therefore of them of Jerusalem said, "Isn't this he whom they seek to kill?
John 7:26and behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Have the rulers then indeed recognised that this is the Christ? But here he is, speaking openly and boldly, and they say nothing to him! Can the Rulers really have ascertained that this man is the Christ?Behold, he speaks openly, and they say nothing to him. Can it be that the rulers indeed know that this is truly the Christ?
John 7:27But [as to] this [man] we know whence he is. Now [as to] the Christ, when he comes, no one knows whence he is.And yet we know this man, and we know where he is from; but as for the Christ, when He comes, no one can tell where He is from."However we know where this man comes from, but when the Christ comes, no one will know where he comes from."
John 7:28Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.Jesus therefore, while teaching in the Temple, cried aloud, and said, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. And yet I have not come of my own accord; but there is One who has sent me, an Authority indeed, of whom you have no knowledge.Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, "You both know me, and know where I am from. I have not come of myself, but he who sent me is true, whom you don't know.
John 7:29I know him, because I am from him, and *he* has sent me.I know Him, because I came from Him, and He sent me."I know him, because I am from him, and he sent me."
John 7:30They sought therefore to take him; and no one laid his hand upon him, because his hour had not yet come.On hearing this they wanted to arrest Him; yet not a hand was laid on Him, because His time had not yet come. They sought therefore to take him. No one laid a hand on him, because his hour was not yet come.
John 7:31But many of the crowd believed on him, and said, Will the Christ, when he comes, do more signs than those which this [man] has done? But from among the crowd a large number believed in Him. "When the Christ comes," they said, "will He perform more miracles than this teacher has performed?"But of the multitude, many believed in him. They said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more signs than those which this man has done?"
John 7:32The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers that they might take him.The Pharisees heard the people thus expressing their various doubts about Him, and the High Priests and the Pharisees sent some officers to apprehend Him.The Pharisees heard the multitude murmuring these things concerning him, and the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to take him.
John 7:33Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go to him that has sent me.So Jesus said, "Still for a short time I am with you, and then I go my way to Him who sent me.Then Jesus said, "Yet a little while, am I with you, then I go to him who sent me.
John 7:34Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me], and where I am ye cannot come. You will look for me and will not find me, and where I am you cannot come."You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come."
John 7:35The Jews therefore said to one another, Where is he about to go that we shall not find him? Is he about to go to the dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks? The Jews therefore said to one another, "Where is he about to betake himself, so that we shall not find him? Will he betake himself to the Dispersion among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? The Jews therefore said among themselves, "Where will this man go that we won't find him? Will he go to the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
John 7:36What word is this which he said, Ye shall seek me and shall not find [me]; and where I am ye cannot come? What do those words of his mean, `You will look for me, but will not find me, and where I am you cannot come'?"What is this word that he said, 'You will seek me, and won't find me; and where I am, you can't come?'"
John 7:37In the last, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried saying, If any one thirst, let him come to me and drink. On the last day of the Festival the great day Jesus stood up and cried aloud. "Whoever is thirsty," He said, "let him come to me and drink. Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!
John 7:38He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. He who believes in me, from within him as the Scripture has said rivers of living water shall flow."He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water."
John 7:39But this he said concerning the Spirit, which they that believed on him were about to receive; for [the] Spirit was not yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. He referred to the Spirit which those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not bestowed as yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn't yet glorified.
John 7:40[Some] out of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet. After listening to these discourses, some of the crowd began to say, "This is beyond doubt the Prophet."Many of the multitude therefore, when they heard these words, said, "This is truly the prophet."
John 7:41Others said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee?Others said, "He is the Christ." But others again, "Not so, for is the Christ to come from Galilee?Others said, "This is the Christ." But some said, "What, does the Christ come out of Galilee?
John 7:42Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was?Has not the Scripture declared that the Christ is to come of the family of David and from Bethlehem, David's village?"Hasn't the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?"
John 7:43There was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.So there was a violent dissension among the people on His account. So there arose a division in the multitude because of him.
John 7:44But some of them desired to take him, but no one laid hands upon him. Some of them wanted at once to arrest Him, but no one laid hands upon Him.Some of them would have taken him, but no one laid hands on him.
John 7:45The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, Why have ye not brought him?Meanwhile the officers returned to the High Priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why have you not brought him?"The officers therefore came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, "Why didn't you bring him?"
John 7:46The officers answered, Never man spoke thus, as this man [speaks]."No mere man has ever spoken as this man speaks," said the officers. The officers answered, "No man ever spoke like this man!"
John 7:47The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also deceived?"Are *you* deluded too?" replied the Pharisees; The Pharisees therefore answered them, "Are you also led astray?
John 7:48Has any one of the rulers believed on him, or of the Pharisees?"has any one of the Rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?Has any of the rulers believed in him, or of the Pharisees?
John 7:49But this crowd, which does not know the law, are accursed. But this rabble who understand nothing about the Law are accursed!"But this cursed multitude doesn't know the law."
John 7:50Nicodemus says to them (being one of themselves),Nicodemus interposed he who had formerly gone to Jesus, being himself one of them.Nicodemus (he who came to him by night, being one of them) said to them,
John 7:51Does our law judge a man before it have first heard from himself, and know what he does?"Does our Law," he asked, "judge a man without first hearing what he has to say and ascertaining what his conduct is?""Does our law judge a man, unless it first hears from him personally and knows what he does?"
John 7:52They answered and said to him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search and look, that no prophet arises out of Galilee."Do you also come from Galilee?" they asked in reply. "Search and see for yourself that no Prophet is of Galilaean origin."They answered him, "Are you also from Galilee? Search, and see that no prophet has arisen out of Galilee."
John 7:53And every one went to his home.[So they went away to their several homes;Everyone went to his own house,
