Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom."Then will the Kingdom of the Heavens be found to be like ten bridesmaids who took their torches and went out to meet the bridegroom."Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were prudent and five foolish.Five of them were foolish and five were wise.Five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3They that were foolish took their torches and did not take oil with them;For the foolish, when they took their torches, did not provide themselves with oil;Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,
Matthew 25:4but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their torches.but the wise, besides their torches, took oil in their flasks.but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Matthew 25:5Now the bridegroom tarrying, they all grew heavy and slept.The bridegroom was a long time in coming, so that meanwhile they all became drowsy and fell asleep.Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
Matthew 25:6But in [the] middle of [the] night there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom; go forth to meet him.But at midnight there is a loud cry, "`The bridegroom! Go out and meet him!'But at midnight there was a cry, 'Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!'
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their torches."Then all those bridesmaids roused themselves and trimmed their torches.Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out."`Give us some of your oil,' said the foolish ones to the wise, `for our torches are going out.'The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'
Matthew 25:9But the prudent answered saying, [We cannot,] lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves."`But perhaps,' replied the wise, `there will not be enough for all of us. Go to the shops rather, and buy some for yourselves.'But the wise answered, saying, 'What if there will not be enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'
Matthew 25:10But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut."So they went to buy. But meanwhile the bridegroom came; those bridesmaids who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet; and the door was shut.While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterwards come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us;"Afterwards the other bridesmaids came and cried, "`Sir, Sir, open the door to us.'Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'
Matthew 25:12but he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I do not know you."`In solemn truth I tell you,' he replied, `I do not know you.'But he answered, 'Most assuredly I tell you, I don't know you.'
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour."Keep awake therefore; for you know neither the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.
Matthew 25:14For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance."Why, it is like a man who, when going on his travels, called his bondservants and entrusted his property to their care."For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and delivered his goods to them.
Matthew 25:15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one to each according to his individual capacity; and then started from home.To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability, and he went on his journey.
Matthew 25:16And he that had received the five talents went and trafficked with them, and made five other talents.Without delay the one who had received the five talents went and employed them in business, and gained five more.Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
Matthew 25:17In like manner also he that [had received] the two, [he also] gained two others.In the same way he who had the two gained two more.In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.
Matthew 25:18But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his lord.But the man who had received the one went and dug a hole and buried his master's money.But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money.
Matthew 25:19And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them."After a long lapse of time the master of those servants returned, and had a reckoning with them.Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.
Matthew 25:20And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them.The one who had received the five talents came and brought five more, and said, "`Sir, it was five talents that you entrusted to me: see, I have gained five more.'He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.'
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord."`You have done well, good and trustworthy servant,' replied his master; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Matthew 25:22And he also that had received the two talents came to [him] and said, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents besides them."The second, who had received the two talents, came and said, "`Sir, it was two talents you entrusted to me: see, I have gained two more.'He also who got the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.'
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."`Good and trustworthy servant, you have done well,' his master replied; `you have been trustworthy in the management of a little, I will put you in charge of much: share your master's joy.'His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Matthew 25:24And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered,"But, next, the man who had the one talent in his keeping came and said, "`Sir, I knew you to be a severe man, reaping where you had not sown and garnering what you had not winnowed.He also who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.
Matthew 25:25and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine.So being afraid I went and buried your talent in the ground: there you have what belongs to you.'I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have your own.'
Matthew 25:26And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered;"`You wicked and slothful servant,' replied his master, `did you know that I reap where I have not sown, and garner what I have not winnowed?But his lord answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn't sow, and gather where I didn't scatter.
Matthew 25:27thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest.Your duty then was to deposit my money in some bank, and so when I came I should have got back my property with interest.You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
Matthew 25:28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents:So take away the talent from him, and give it to the man who has the ten.'Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.
Matthew 25:29for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.(For to every one who has, more shall be given, and he shall have abundance; but from him who has nothing, even what he has shall be taken away.)For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away.
Matthew 25:30And cast out the useless bondman into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.`But as for this worthless servant, put him out into the darkness outside: *there* will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'
Matthew 25:31But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit down upon his throne of glory,"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then will He sit upon His glorious throne,"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit on the throne of his glory.
Matthew 25:32and all the nations shall be gathered before him; and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;and all the nations will be gathered into His presence. And He will separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.
Matthew 25:33and he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on [his] left.and will make the sheep stand at His right hand, and the goats at His left.He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world's foundation:"Then the King will say to those at His right, "`Come, my Father's blessed ones, receive your inheritance of the Kingdom which has been divinely intended for you ever since the creation of the world.Then the King will tell them on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;
Matthew 25:35for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;For when I was hungry, you gave me food; when I was thirsty, you gave me drink; when I was homeless, you gave me a welcome;for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in;
Matthew 25:36naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me.when I was ill-clad, you clothed me; when I was sick, you visited me; when I was in prison, you came to see me.'naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.'
Matthew 25:37Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink?"`When, Lord,' the righteous will reply, `did we see Thee hungry, and feed Thee; or thirsty, and give Thee drink?Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink?
Matthew 25:38and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee?When did we see Thee homeless, and give Thee a welcome? or ill-clad, and clothe Thee?When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?
Matthew 25:39and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee?When did we see Thee sick or in prison, and come to see Thee?'When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'
Matthew 25:40And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me."But the King will answer them, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you rendered such services to one of the humblest of these my brethren, you rendered them to myself.'The King will answer them, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
Matthew 25:41Then shall he say also to those on the left, Go from me, cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:"Then will He say to those at His left, "`Begone from me, with the curse resting upon you, into the Fire of the Ages, which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels.Then will he say also to them on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;
Matthew 25:42for I hungered, and ye gave me not to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me not to drink;For when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat; when thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink;for I was hungry, and you didn't give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink;
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe me; ill, and in prison, and ye did not visit me.when homeless, you gave me no welcome; ill-clad, you clothed me not; sick or in prison, you visited me not.'I was a stranger, and you didn't take me in; naked, and you didn't clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'
Matthew 25:44Then shall *they* also answer saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or ill, or in prison, and have not ministered to thee?"Then will they also answer, "`Lord, when did we see Thee hungry or thirsty or homeless or ill-clad or sick or in prison, and not come to serve Thee?'Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?'
Matthew 25:45Then shall he answer them saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have not done it to one of these least, neither have ye done it to me."But he will reply, "`In solemn truth I tell you that in so far as you withheld such services from one of the humblest of these, you withheld them from me.'Then will he answer them, saying, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of these least, you didn't do it to me.'
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into eternal punishment, and the righteous into life eternal."And these shall go away into the Punishment of the Ages, but the righteous into the Life of the Ages."These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
