Matthew 25:1Then shall the kingdom of the heavens be made like to ten virgins that having taken their torches, went forth to meet the bridegroom."Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, the friends of the bride, who took their lights, and went out with the purpose of meeting the husband.
Matthew 25:2And five of them were prudent and five foolish.Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.
Matthew 25:3They that were foolish took their torches and did not take oil with them; Those who were foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them,For the foolish, when they took their lights, took no oil with them.
Matthew 25:4but the prudent took oil in their vessels with their torches.but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lights.
Matthew 25:5Now the bridegroom tarrying, they all grew heavy and slept. Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all slumbered and slept. Now the husband was a long time in coming, and they all went to sleep.
Matthew 25:6But in [the] middle of [the] night there was a cry, Behold, the bridegroom; go forth to meet him.But at midnight there was a cry, 'Behold! The bridegroom is coming! Come out to meet him!'But in the middle of the night there is a cry, The husband comes! Go out to him.
Matthew 25:7Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their torches. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. Then all those virgins got up, and made ready their lights.
Matthew 25:8And the foolish said to the prudent, Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.The foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.'And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lights are going out.
Matthew 25:9But the prudent answered saying, [We cannot,] lest it might not suffice for us and for you. Go rather to those that sell, and buy for yourselves. But the wise answered, saying, 'What if there will not be enough for us and you? You go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.'But the wise made answer, saying, There may not be enough for us and you; it would be better for you to go to the traders and get oil for yourselves.
Matthew 25:10But as they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and the [ones that were] ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. While they went away to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. And while they went to get oil, the master came; and those who were ready went in with him to the feast: and the door was shut.
Matthew 25:11Afterwards come also the rest of the virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us;Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, 'Lord, Lord, open to us.'After that the other virgins came, saying, Lord, Lord, let us in.
Matthew 25:12but he answering said, Verily I say unto you, I do not know you.But he answered, 'Most assuredly I tell you, I don't know you.'But he made answer and said, Truly I say to you, I have no knowledge of you.
Matthew 25:13Watch therefore, for ye know not the day nor the hour.Watch therefore, for you don't know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.Keep watch, then, because you are not certain of the day or of the hour.
Matthew 25:14For [it is] as [if] a man going away out of a country called his own bondmen and delivered to them his substance."For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and delivered his goods to them. For it is as when a man, about to take a journey, got his servants together, and gave them his property.
Matthew 25:15And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his particular ability, and immediately went away out of the country. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability, and he went on his journey. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to everyone as he was able; and he went on his journey.
Matthew 25:16And he that had received the five talents went and trafficked with them, and made five other talents.Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.Straight away he who had been given the five talents went and did trade with them, and made five more.
Matthew 25:17In like manner also he that [had received] the two, [he also] gained two others. In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.In the same way he who had been given the two got two more.
Matthew 25:18But he that had received the one went and dug in the earth, and hid the money of his lord. But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord's money. But he who was given the one went away and put it in a hole in the earth, and kept his lord's money in a secret place.
Matthew 25:19And after a long time the lord of those bondmen comes and reckons with them. Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them. Now after a long time the lord of those servants comes, and makes up his account with them.
Matthew 25:20And he that had received the five talents came to [him] and brought five other talents, saying, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me five talents; behold, I have gained five other talents besides them.He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, 'Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.'And he who had the five talents came with his other five talents, saying, Lord, you gave into my care five talents: see, I have got five more.
Matthew 25:21His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter into the joy of thy lord. His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'His lord said to him, Well done, good and true servant: you have been true in a small thing, I will give you control over great things: take your part in the joy of your lord.
Matthew 25:22And he also that had received the two talents came to [him] and said, [My] lord, thou deliveredst me two talents; behold, I have gained two other talents besides them.He also who got the two talents came and said, 'Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.'And he who had the two talents came and said, Lord, you gave into my care two talents: see, I have got two more.
Matthew 25:23His lord said to him, Well, good and faithful bondman, thou wast faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Matthew 25:24And he also that had received the one talent coming to [him] said, [My] lord, I knew thee that thou art a hard man, reaping where thou hadst not sowed, and gathering from where thou hadst not scattered,He also who had received the one talent came and said, 'Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter. And he who had had the one talent came and said, Lord, I had knowledge that you are a hard man, getting in grain where you have not put seed, and making profits for which you have done no work:
Matthew 25:25and being afraid I went away and hid thy talent in the earth; behold, thou hast that which is thine.I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have your own.'And I was in fear, and went away, and put your talent in the earth: here is what is yours.
Matthew 25:26And his lord answering said to him, Wicked and slothful bondman, thou knewest that I reap where I had not sowed, and gather from where I had not scattered; But his lord answered him, 'You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn't sow, and gather where I didn't scatter. But his lord in answer said to him, You are a bad and unready servant; if you had knowledge that I get in grain where I did not put seed, and make profits for which I have done no work,
Matthew 25:27thou oughtest then to have put my money to the money-changers, and when I came I should have got what is mine with interest. You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest. Why, then, did you not put my money in the bank, and at my coming I would have got back what is mine with interest?
Matthew 25:28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it to him that has the ten talents:Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.Take away, then, his talent and give it to him who has the ten talents.
Matthew 25:29for to every one that has shall be given, and he shall be in abundance; but from him that has not, that even which he has shall be taken from him.For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away. For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have more: but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
Matthew 25:30And cast out the useless bondman into the outer darkness; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness; there will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.'And put out the servant who is of no profit into the outer dark: there will be weeping and cries of sorrow.
Matthew 25:31But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit down upon his throne of glory,"But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then will he sit on the throne of his glory. But when the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then will he be seated in his glory:
Matthew 25:32and all the nations shall be gathered before him; and he shall separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; Before him all the nations will be gathered, and he will separate them one from another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And before him all the nations will come together; and they will be parted one from another, as the sheep are parted from the goats by the keeper.
Matthew 25:33and he will set the sheep on his right hand, and the goats on [his] left.He will set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. And he will put the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
Matthew 25:34Then shall the King say to those on his right hand, Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from [the] world's foundation:Then the King will tell them on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; Then will the King say to those on his right, Come, you who have the blessing of my Father, into the kingdom made ready for you before the world was:
Matthew 25:35for I hungered, and ye gave me to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me to drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in;For I was in need of food, and you gave it to me: I was in need of drink, and you gave it to me: I was wandering, and you took me in;
Matthew 25:36naked, and ye clothed me; I was ill, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me.naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me.'I had no clothing, and you gave it to me: when I was ill, or in prison, you came to me.
Matthew 25:37Then shall the righteous answer him saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, and nourished thee; or thirsting, and gave thee to drink? Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, and feed you; or thirsty, and give you a drink? Then will the upright make answer to him, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food, and give it to you? or in need of drink, and give it to you?
Matthew 25:38and when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in; or naked, and clothed thee? When did we see you as a stranger, and take you in; or naked, and clothe you?And when did we see you wandering, and take you in? or without clothing, and give it to you?
Matthew 25:39and when saw we thee ill, or in prison, and came to thee? When did we see you sick, or in prison, and come to you?'And when did we see you ill, or in prison, and come to you?
Matthew 25:40And the King answering shall say to them, Verily, I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have done it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it to me.The King will answer them, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'And the King will make answer and say to them, Truly I say to you, Because you did it to the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.
Matthew 25:41Then shall he say also to those on the left, Go from me, cursed, into eternal fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:Then will he say also to them on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels; Then will he say to those on the left, Go from me, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire which is ready for the Evil One and his angels:
Matthew 25:42for I hungered, and ye gave me not to eat; I thirsted, and ye gave me not to drink;for I was hungry, and you didn't give me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink; For I was in need of food, and you gave it not to me; I was in need of drink, and you gave it not to me:
Matthew 25:43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye did not clothe me; ill, and in prison, and ye did not visit me.I was a stranger, and you didn't take me in; naked, and you didn't clothe me; sick, and in prison, and you didn't visit me.'I was wandering, and you took me not in; without clothing, and you gave me no clothing; ill, and in prison, and you came not to me.
Matthew 25:44Then shall *they* also answer saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungering, or thirsting, or a stranger, or naked, or ill, or in prison, and have not ministered to thee? Then will they also answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not help you?'Then will they make answer, saying, Lord, when did we see you in need of food or drink, or wandering, or without clothing, or ill, or in prison, and did not take care of you?
Matthew 25:45Then shall he answer them saying, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye have not done it to one of these least, neither have ye done it to me.Then will he answer them, saying, 'Most assuredly I tell you, inasmuch as you didn't do it to one of these least, you didn't do it to me.'Then will he make answer to them, saying, Truly I say to you, Because you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me.
Matthew 25:46And these shall go away into eternal punishment, and the righteous into life eternal. These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."And these will go away into eternal punishment; but the upright into eternal life.
