Habakkuk 3:1 | A Prayer of Habakkuk the prophet upon Shigionoth. | A prayer of Habakkuk, the prophet, set to victorious music. | A PRAYER OF HABACUC THE PROPHET FOR IGNORANCES. |
Habakkuk 3:2 | Jehovah, I heard the report of thee, [and] I feared. Jehovah, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make [it] known: In wrath remember mercy! | Yahweh, I have heard of your fame. I stand in awe of your deeds, Yahweh. Renew your work in the midst of the years. In the midst of the years make it known. In wrath, you remember mercy. | O Lord, I have heard thy hearing, and was afraid. O Lord, thy work, in the midst of the years bring it to life: In the midst of the years thou shalt make it known: when thou art angry, thou wilt remember mercy. |
Habakkuk 3:3 | +God came from Teman, And the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covereth the heavens, And the earth is full of his praise. | God came from Teman, The Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, And his praise filled the earth. | God will come from the south, and the holy one from mount Pharan: His glory covered the heavens, and the earth is full of his praise. |
Habakkuk 3:4 | And [his] brightness was as the light; Rays [came forth] from his hand; And there was the hiding of his power. | His splendor is like the sunrise. Rays shine from his hand, where his power is hidden. | His brightness shall be as the light; horns are in his hands: There is his strength hid: |
Habakkuk 3:5 | Before him went the pestilence, And a burning flame went forth at his feet. | Plague went before him, And pestilence followed his feet. | Death shall go before his face. And the devil shall go forth before his feet. |
Habakkuk 3:6 | He stood, and measured the earth; He beheld, and discomfited the nations; And the eternal mountains were scattered, The everlasting hills gave way: His ways are everlasting. | He stood, and shook the earth. He looked, and made the nations tremble. The ancient mountains were crumbled. The age-old hills collapsed. His ways are eternal. | He stood and measured the earth. He beheld, and melted the nations: and the ancient mountains were crushed to pieces. The hills of the world were bowed down by the journeys of his eternity. |
Habakkuk 3:7 | I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction; The curtains of the land of Midian did tremble. | I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction. The dwellings of the land of Midian trembled. | I saw the tents of Ethiopia for their iniquity, the curtains of the land of Madian shall be troubled. |
Habakkuk 3:8 | Was Jehovah wrathful with the rivers? Was thine anger against the rivers? Was thy rage against the sea, That thou didst ride upon thy horses, Thy chariots of salvation? | Was Yahweh displeased with the rivers? Was your anger against the rivers, Or your wrath against the sea, That you rode on your horses, On your chariots of salvation? | Wast thou angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or was thy wrath upon the rivers? or thy indignation in the sea? Who will ride upon thy horses: and thy chariots are salvation. |
Habakkuk 3:9 | Thy bow was made naked, The rods [of discipline] sworn according to [thy] word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. | You uncovered your bow. You called for your sworn arrows. Selah. You split the earth with rivers. | Thou wilt surely take up thy bow: according to the oaths which thou hast spoken to the tribes. Thou wilt divide the rivers of the earth. |
Habakkuk 3:10 | The mountains saw thee, they were in travail: Torrents of waters passed by; The deep uttered its voice, Lifted up its hands on high. | The mountains saw you, and were afraid. The tempest of waters passed by. The deep roared and lifted up its hands on high. | The mountains saw thee, and were grieved: the great body of waters passed away. The deep put forth its voice: the deep lifted up its hands. |
Habakkuk 3:11 | The sun [and] moon stood still in their habitation, At the light of thine arrows which shot forth, At the shining of thy glittering spear. | The sun and moon stood still in the sky, At the light of your arrows as they went, At the shining of your glittering spear. | The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation, in the light of thy arrows, they shall go in the brightness of thy glittering spear. |
Habakkuk 3:12 | Thou didst march through the land in indignation, Thou didst thresh the nations in anger. | You marched through the land in wrath. You threshed the nations in anger. | In thy anger thou wilt tread the earth under foot: in thy wrath thou wilt astonish the nations. |
Habakkuk 3:13 | Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, For the salvation of thine anointed; Thou didst smite off the head from the house of the wicked, Laying bare the foundation even to the neck. Selah. | You went forth for the salvation of your people, For the salvation of your anointed. You crushed the head of the land of wickedness. You stripped them head to foot. Selah. | Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people: for salvation with thy Christ. Thou struckest the head of the house of the wicked: thou hast laid bare his foundation even to the neck. |
Habakkuk 3:14 | Thou didst strike through with his own spears the head of his leaders: They came out as a whirlwind to scatter me, Whose exulting was as to devour the afflicted secretly. | You pierced the heads of his warriors with their own spears. They came as a whirlwind to scatter me, Gloating as if to devour the wretched in secret. | Thou hast cursed his sceptres, the head of his warriors, them that came out as a whirlwind to scatter me. Their joy was like that of him that devoureth the poor man in secret. |
Habakkuk 3:15 | Thou didst walk through the sea with thy horses, The heap of great waters. | You trampled the sea with your horses, Churning mighty waters. | Thou madest a way in the sea for thy horses, in the mud of many waters. |
Habakkuk 3:16 | I heard, and my belly trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in my place, That I might rest in the day of distress, When their invader shall come up against the people. | I heard, and my body trembled. My lips quivered at the voice. Rottenness enters into my bones, and I tremble in my place, Because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, For the coming up of the people who invade us. | I have heard and my bowels were troubled: my lips trembled at the voice. Let rottenness enter into my bones, and swarm under me. That I may rest in the day of tribulation: that I may go up to our people that are girded. |
Habakkuk 3:17 | For though the fig-tree shall not blossom, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labour of the olive-tree shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls: | For though the fig tree doesn't flourish, Nor fruit be in the vines; The labor of the olive fails, The fields yield no food; The flocks are cut off from the fold, And there is no herd in the stalls: | For the fig tree shall not blossom: and there shall be no spring in the vines. The labour of the olive tree shall fail: and the fields shall yield no food: the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls. |
Habakkuk 3:18 | Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation. | Yet I will rejoice in Yahweh. I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! | But I will rejoice in the Lord: and I will joy in God my Jesus. |
Habakkuk 3:19 | Jehovah, the Lord, is my strength, And he maketh my feet like hinds' [feet], And he will make me to walk upon my high places. To the chief Musician. On my stringed instruments. | Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, And enables me to go in high places. For the music director, on my stringed instruments. | The Lord God is my strength: and he will make my feet like the feet of harts: and he the conqueror will lead me upon my high places singing psalms. |
