Joshua 15:1

And the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was: to the border of Edom, the wilderness of Zin, southward, in the extreme south.

The lot for the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families was to the border of Edom, even to the wilderness of Zin southward, at the uttermost part of the south.

Now the lot of the children of Juda by their kindreds was this: From the frontier of Edom, to the desert of Sin southward, and to the uttermost part of the south coast.

Joshua 15:2

And their southern border was from the end of the salt sea, from the tongue that turns southward;

Their south border was from the uttermost part of the Salt Sea, from the bay that looks southward;

Its beginning was from the top of the most salt sea, and from the bay thereof, that looketh to the south.

Joshua 15:3

and it went out south of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed on to Zin, and went up on the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed to Hezron, and went up toward Addar, and turned toward Karkaah,

and it went out southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and went up by the south of Kadesh-barnea, and passed along by Hezron, and went up to Addar, and turned about to Karka;

And it goeth out towards the ascent of the Scorpion, and passeth on to Sina: and ascendeth into Cadesbarne, and reacheth into Esron, going up to Addar, and compassing Carcaa.

Joshua 15:4

and passed on to Azmon, and went out by the torrent of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. That shall be your border southward.

and it passed along to Azmon, and went out at the brook of Egypt; and the goings out of the border were at the sea: this shall be your south border.

And from thence passing along into Asemona, and reaching the torrent of Egypt: and the bounds thereof shall be the great sea, this shall be the limit of the south coast.

Joshua 15:5

And the eastern border was the salt sea as far as the end of the Jordan. And the border on the north side was from the tongue of the salt sea, at the end of the Jordan;

The east border was the Salt Sea, even to the end of the Jordan. The border of the north quarter was from the bay of the sea at the end of the Jordan;

But on the east side the beginning shall be the most salt sea even to the end of the Jordan: and towards the north, from the bay of the sea unto the same river Jordan.

Joshua 15:6

and the border went up toward Beth-hoglah, and passed north of Beth-Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan, the son of Reuben;

and the border went up to Beth-hoglah, and passed along by the north of Beth-arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben;

And the border goeth up into Beth-Hagla, and passeth by the north into Beth-Araba: going up to the stone of Boen the son of Ruben.

Joshua 15:7

and the border went up toward Debir from the valley of Achor, and turned northward to Gilgal, which is opposite to the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the torrent; and the border passed to the waters of En-shemesh, and ended at En-rogel;

and the border went up to Debir from the valley of Achor, and so northward, looking toward Gilgal, that is over against the ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the river; and the border passed along to the waters of En-shemesh, and the goings out of it were at En-rogel;

And reaching as far as the borders of Debara from the valley of Achor, and so northward looking towards Galgal, which is opposite to the ascent of Adommin, on the south side of the torrent: and the border passeth the waters that are called the fountain of the sun: and the goings out thereof shall be at the fountain Rogel.

Joshua 15:8

and the border went up to the valley of the son of Hinnom, toward the south side of the Jebusite, that is, Jerusalem; and the border went up to the top of the mountain that is before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the end of the valley of Rephaim northward;

and the border went up by the valley of the son of Hinnom to the side of the Jebusite southward (the same is Jerusalem); and the border went up to the top of the mountain that lies before the valley of Hinnom westward, which is at the uttermost part of the vale of Rephaim northward;

And it goeth up by the valley of the son of Ennom on the side of the Jebusite towards the south, the same is Jerusalem: and thence ascending to the top of the mountain, which is over against Geennom to the west in the end of the valley of Raphaim, northward.

Joshua 15:9

and the border reached along from the top of the mountain toward the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out toward the cities of mount Ephron; and the border reached along to Baalah, that is, Kirjath-jearim;

and the border extended from the top of the mountain to the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, and went out to the cities of Mount Ephron; and the border extended to Baalah (the same is Kiriath-jearim);

And it passeth on from the top of the mountain to the fountain of the water of Nephtoa: and reacheth to the towns of mount Ephron: and it bendeth towards Baala, which is Cariathiarim, that is to say, the city of the woods.

Joshua 15:10

and the border turned from Baalah westwards toward mount Seir, and passed toward the side of Har-jearim, that is, Chesalon, northwards, and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed Timnah.

and the border turned about from Baalah westward to Mount Seir, and passed along to the side of Mount Jearim on the north (the same is Chesalon), and went down to Beth-shemesh, and passed along by Timnah;

And it compasseth from Baala westward unto mount Seir: and passeth by the side of mount Jarim to the north into Cheslon: and goeth down into Bethsames, and passeth into Thamna.

Joshua 15:11

And the border went out to the side of Ekron northwards, and the border reached along toward Shicron, and passed mount Baalah, and went toward Jabneel; and the border ended at the sea.

and the border went out to the side of Ekron northward; and the border extended to Shikkeron, and passed along to Mount Baalah, and went out at Jabneel; and the goings out of the border were at the sea.

And it reacheth northward to a part of Accaron at the side: and bendeth to Sechrona, and passeth mount Baala: and cometh into Jebneel, and is bounded westward with the great sea.

Joshua 15:12

And the west border is the great sea and [its] coast. This is the border of the children of Judah round about, according to their families.

The west border was to the great sea, and the border [of it]. This is the border of the children of Judah round about according to their families.

These are the borders round about of the children of Juda in their kindreds.

Joshua 15:13

And to Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah according to the commandment of Jehovah to Joshua, the city of Arba, the father of Anak, that is, Hebron.

To Caleb the son of Jephunneh he gave a portion among the children of Judah, according to the commandment of Yahweh to Joshua, even Kiriath-arba, [which Arba was] the father of Anak (the same is Hebron).

But to Caleb the son of Jephone he gave a portion in the midst of the children of Juda, as the Lord had commanded him: Cariath-Arbe the father of Enac. which is Hebron.

Joshua 15:14

And thence Caleb dispossessed the three sons of Anak, Sheshai and Ahiman and Talmai, who were born of Anak.

Caleb drove out there the three sons of Anak: Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak.

And Caleb destroyed out of it the three sons of Ehac, Sesai and Ahiman. and Tholmai of the race of Enac.

Joshua 15:15

And from there he went up against the inhabitants of Debir; now the name of Debir before was Kirjath-sepher.

He went up there against the inhabitants of Debir: now the name of Debir before was Kiriath-sepher.

And going up from thence he came to the inhabitants of Dabir, which before was called Cariath-Sepher, that is to say, the city of letters.

Joshua 15:16

And Caleb said, He that smites Kirjath-sepher and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.

Caleb said, He who strikes Kiriath-sepher, and takes it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter as wife.

And Caleb said: He that shall smite Cariath-Sepher, and take it, I will give him Axa my daughter to wife.

Joshua 15:17

And Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it; and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.

Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Achsah his daughter as wife.

And Othoniel the son of Cenez, the younger brother of Caleb, took it: and he gave him Axa his daughter to wife.

Joshua 15:18

And it came to pass as she came, that she urged him to ask of her father a field; and she sprang down from the ass. And Caleb said to her, What wouldest thou?

It happened, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field: and she alighted from off her donkey; and Caleb said, What would you?

And as they were going together, she was moved by her husband to ask a field of her father, and she sighed as she sat on her ass. And Caleb said to her: What aileth thee?

Joshua 15:19

And she said, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a southern land; give me also springs of water. Then he gave her the upper springs and the lower springs.

She said, Give me a blessing; for that you have set me in the land of the South, give me also springs of water. He gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.

But she answered: Give me a blessing: thou hast given me a southern and dry land, give me also a land that is watered. And Caleb gave her the upper and the nether watery ground.

Joshua 15:20

This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families.

This is the possession of the tribe of the children of Juda by their kindreds.

Joshua 15:21

The cities at the extremity of the tribe of the children of Judah, toward the border of Edom in the south, were: Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

The uttermost cities of the tribe of the children of Judah toward the border of Edom in the South were Kabzeel, and Eder, and Jagur,

And the cities from the uttermost parts of the children of Juda by the borders of Edom to the south, were Cabseel and Eder and Jagur,

Joshua 15:22

and Kinah, and Dimonah, and Adadah,

And Cina and Dimona and Adada,

Joshua 15:23

and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Jithnan,

and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Ithnan,

And Cades and Asor and Jethnam,

Joshua 15:24

Ziph, and Telem, and Bealoth,

Ziph and Telem and Baloth,

Joshua 15:25

and Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-Hezron, that is Hazor,

and Hazor-hadattah, and Kerioth-hezron (the same is Hazor),

New Asor and Carioth, Hesron, which is Asor.

Joshua 15:26

Amam, and Shema, and Molada,

and Hazar-gaddah, and Heshmon, and Beth-Pelet,

In the lowland: Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,

From Ekron and westward all that are by the side of Ashdod, and their hamlets.

from Ekron even to the sea, all that were by the side of Ashdod, with their villages.

From Accaron even to the sea: all places that lie towards Azotus and the villages thereof.

Ashdod, its dependent villages and its hamlets; Gazah, its dependent villages and its hamlets, as far as the torrent of Egypt, and the great sea and [its] coast.

Ashdod, its towns and its villages; Gaza, its towns and its villages; to the brook of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border [of it].

But as for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah could not dispossess them; and the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

As for the Jebusites, the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the children of Judah couldn't drive them out: but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

But the children of Juda could not destroy the Jebusite that dwelt in Jerusalem: and the Jebusite dwelt with the children of Juda in Jerusalem until this present day.
