Judges 13:1 | And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of Jehovah; and Jehovah gave them into the hand of the Philistines forty years. | The children of Israel again did that which was evil in the sight of Yahweh; and Yahweh delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years. | And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the Lord: and he delivered them into the hands of the Philistines forty years. |
Judges 13:2 | And there was a certain man of Zoreah, of the family of the Danites, and his name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and did not bear. | There was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and didn't bear. | Now there was a certain man of Saraa, and of the race of Dan, whose name was Manue, and his wife was barren. |
Judges 13:3 | And the Angel of Jehovah appeared to the woman, and said to her, Behold now, thou art barren and bearest not; but thou shalt conceive and bear a son. | The angel of Yahweh appeared to the woman, and said to her, See now, you are barren, and don't bear; but you shall conceive, and bear a son. | And an angel of the Lord appeared to her, and said: Thou art barren and without children: but thou shalt conceive and bear a son. |
Judges 13:4 | And now beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat nothing unclean. | Now therefore please beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and don't eat any unclean thing: | Now therefore beware and drink no wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing. |
Judges 13:5 | For lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son, and no razor shall come on his head; for the boy shall be a Nazarite of God from the womb; and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. | for, behold, you shall conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head; for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb: and he shall begin to save Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. | Because thou shalt conceive and bear a son, and no razor shall touch his head: for he shall be a Nazarite of God, from his infancy, and from his mother's womb, and he shall begin to deliver Israel from the hands of the Philistines. |
Judges 13:6 | And the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his appearance was like the appearance of an angel of God, very terrible; but I did not ask him whence he was, neither did he tell me his name. | Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came to me, and his face was like the face of the angel of God, very awesome; and I didn't ask him whence he was, neither did he tell me his name: | And when she was come to her husband she said to him: A man of God came to me, having the countenance of an angel, very awful. And when I asked him who he was, and whence he came, and by what name he was called, he would not tell me. |

Judges 13:8 | Then Manoah prayed to Jehovah, and said, Ah Lord! let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, I pray thee, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born. | Then Manoah entreated Yahweh, and said, Oh, Lord, please let the man of God whom you did send come again to us, and teach us what we shall do to the child who shall be born. | Then Manue prayed to the Lord, and said: I beseech thee, O Lord, that the mail of God, whom thou didst send, may come again, and teach us what we ought to do concerning the child that shall be born. |
Judges 13:9 | And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the Angel of God came again to the woman whilst she sat in the field; but Manoah her husband was not with her. | God listened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again to the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah, her husband, wasn't with her. | And the Lord heard the prayer of Manue, and the angel of the Lord appeared again to his wife as she was sitting in the field. But Manue her husband was not with her. And when she saw the angel, |
Judges 13:10 | Then the woman hasted and ran, and informed her husband, and said to him, Behold, the man has appeared to me, that came to me that day. | The woman made haste, and ran, and told her husband, and said to him, Behold, the man has appeared to me, who came to me the [other] day. | She made haste and ran to her husband: and told him saying: Behold the man hath appeared to me whom I saw before. |
Judges 13:11 | And Manoah rose up and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Art thou the man that didst speak to the woman? And he said, I am. | Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said to him, Are you the man who spoke to the woman? He said, I am. | He rose up and followed his wife: and coming to the man, said to him: Art thou he that spoke to the woman? And he answered: I am. |
Judges 13:12 | And Manoah said, When thy words then come to pass, what shall be the child's manner and his doing? | Manoah said, Now let your words happen: what shall be the ordering of the child, and [how] shall we do to him? | And Manue said to him: When thy word shall come to pass, what wilt thou that the child should do? or from what shall he keep himself? |
Judges 13:13 | And the Angel of Jehovah said to Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware: | The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, Of all that I said to the woman let her beware. | And the angel of the Lord said to Manue: From all the things I have spoken of to thy wife, let her refrain herself: |
Judges 13:14 | she shall not eat of anything that cometh of the vine, neither shall she drink wine or strong drink, nor eat anything unclean: all that I commanded her shall she observe. | She may not eat of anything that comes of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing; all that I commanded her let her observe. | And let her eat nothing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: and whatsoever I have commanded her, let her fulfil and observe. |
Judges 13:15 | And Manoah said to the Angel of Jehovah, I pray thee, let us detain thee, and we will make ready a kid of the goats for thee. | Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, I pray you, let us detain you, that we may make ready a kid for you. | And Manue said to the angel of the Lord: I beseech thee to consent to my request, and let us dress a kid for thee. |
Judges 13:16 | And the Angel of Jehovah said to Manoah, Though thou shouldest detain me, I will not eat of thy bread; and if thou wilt offer a burnt-offering, thou shalt offer it up to Jehovah. For Manoah knew not that he was the Angel of Jehovah. | The angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, Though you detain me, I won't eat of your bread; and if you will make ready a burnt offering, you must offer it to Yahweh. For Manoah didn't know that he was the angel of Yahweh. | And the angel answered him: If thou press me, I will not eat of thy bread: but if thou wilt offer a holocaust, offer it to the Lord. And Manue knew not it was the angel of the Lord. |
Judges 13:17 | And Manoah said to the Angel of Jehovah, What is thy name, that when thy word cometh to pass we may do thee honour? | Manoah said to the angel of Yahweh, What is your name, that when your words happen, we may honor you? | And he said to him: What is thy name, that, if thy word shall come to pass, we may honour thee? |
Judges 13:18 | And the Angel of Jehovah said to him, How is it that thou askest after my name, seeing it is wonderful? | The angel of Yahweh said to him, Why ask you after my name, seeing it is wonderful? | And he answered him: Why askest thou my name, which is wonderful? |
Judges 13:19 | Then Manoah took the kid and the oblation, and offered it up to Jehovah upon the rock. And he did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on. | So Manoah took the kid with the meal-offering, and offered it on the rock to Yahweh: and [the angel] did wondrously, and Manoah and his wife looked on. | Then Manue took a kid of the flocks, and the libations, and put them upon a rock, offering to the Lord, who doth wonderful things: and he and his wife looked on. |
Judges 13:20 | And it came to pass, as the flame went up from off the altar towards the heavens, that the Angel of Jehovah ascended in the flame of the altar; and Manoah and his wife looked on, and fell on their faces to the ground. | For it happened, when the flame went up toward the sky from off the altar, that the angel of Yahweh ascended in the flame of the altar: and Manoah and his wife looked on; and they fell on their faces to the ground. | And when the flame from the altar went up towards heaven, the angel of the lord ascended also in the flame. And when Manue and his wife saw this, they fell flat on the ground. |
Judges 13:21 | And the Angel of Jehovah appeared no more to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that it was the Angel of Jehovah. | But the angel of Yahweh did no more appear to Manoah or to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was the angel of Yahweh. | And the angel of the Lord appeared to them no more. And forthwith Manue understood that it was an angel of the Lord, |
Judges 13:22 | And Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. | Manoah said to his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. | And he said to his wife: We shall certainly die, because we have seen God. |
Judges 13:23 | But his wife said to him, If Jehovah were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt-offering and an oblation at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would he at this time have told us [such things] as these. | But his wife said to him, If Yahweh were pleased to kill us, he wouldn't have received a burnt offering and a meal-offering at our hand, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would at this time have told such things as these. | And his wife answered him: If the Lord had a mind to kill us, he would not have received a holocaust and libations at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor have told us the things that are to come. |
Judges 13:24 | And the woman bore a son, and called his name Samson. And the child grew, and Jehovah blessed him. | The woman bore a son, and named him Samson: and the child grew, and Yahweh blessed him. | And she bore a son, and called his name Samson. And the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. |
Judges 13:25 | And the Spirit of Jehovah began to move him at Mahaneh-Dan, between Zoreah and Eshtaol. | The Spirit of Yahweh began to move him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol. | And the spirit of the Lord began to be with him in the camp of Dan, between Saraa and Esthaol. |
