Luke 21:1 | And he looked up and saw the rich casting their gifts into the treasury; | He looked up, and saw the rich people who were putting their gifts into the treasury. | And looking on, he saw the rich men cast their gifts into the treasury. |
Luke 21:2 | but he saw also a certain poor widow casting therein two mites. | He saw a certain poor widow casting in two lepta. | And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in two brass mites. |
Luke 21:3 | And he said, Verily I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than all; | He said, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow put in more than all of them, | And he said: Verily I say to you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: |
Luke 21:4 | for all these out of their abundance have cast into the gifts [of God]; but she out of her need has cast in all the living which she had. | for all these put in gifts for God from their abundance, but she, out of her lack, put in all that she had to live on." | For all these have of their abundance cast into the offerings of God: but she of her want, hath cast in all the living that she had. |
Luke 21:5 | And as some spoke of the temple, that it was adorned with goodly stones and consecrated offerings, he said, | As some were talking about the temple and how it was decorated with beautiful stones and gifts, he said, | And some saying of the temple, that it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said: |
Luke 21:6 | [As to] these things which ye are beholding, days are coming in which there shall not be left stone upon stone which shall not be thrown down. | "As for these things which you see, the days will come, in which there will not be left here one stone on another that will not be thrown down." | These things which you see, the days will come in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone that shall not be thrown down. |
Luke 21:7 | And they asked him saying, Teacher, when then shall these things be; and what [is] the sign when these things are going to take place? | They asked him, "Teacher, when therefore will these things be? What is the sign that these things are about to happen?" | And they asked him, saying: Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when they shall begin to come to pass? |
Luke 21:8 | And he said, See that ye be not led astray, for many shall come in my name, saying, *I* am [he], and the time is drawn nigh: go ye not [therefore] after them. | He said, "Watch out that you don't get led astray, for many will come in my name, saying, 'I AM,' and, 'The time is at hand.' Therefore don't follow them. | Who said: Take heed you be not seduced; for many will come in my name, saying, I am he; and the time is at hand: go ye not therefore after them. |
Luke 21:9 | And when ye shall hear of wars and tumults, be not terrified, for these things must first take place, but the end is not immediately. | When you hear of wars and disturbances, don't be terrified, for these things must happen first, but the end won't come immediately." | And when you shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified: these things must first come to pass; but the end is not yet presently. |
Luke 21:10 | Then he said to them, Nation shall rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; | Then he said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. | Then he said to them: Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. |
Luke 21:11 | there shall be both great earthquakes in different places, and famines and pestilences; and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. | There will be great earthquakes, famines, and plagues in various places. There will be terrors and great signs from heaven. | And there shall be great earthquakes in divers places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there shall be great signs. |
Luke 21:12 | But before all these things they shall lay their hands upon you and persecute you, delivering [you] up to synagogues and prisons, bringing [you] before kings and governors on account of my name; | But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for my name's sake. | But before all these things, they will lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, dragging you before kings and governors, for my name's sake. |
Luke 21:13 | but it shall turn out to you for a testimony. | It will turn out as a testimony to you. | And it shall happen unto you for a testimony. |
Luke 21:14 | Settle therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand [your] defence, | Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate beforehand how to answer, | Lay it up therefore into your hearts, not to meditate before how you shall answer: |
Luke 21:15 | for *I* will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your opposers shall not be able to reply to or resist. | for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to withstand or to contradict. | For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist and gainsay. |
Luke 21:16 | But ye will be delivered up even by parents and brethren and relations and friends, and they shall put to death [some] from among you, | But you will be handed over even by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends. Some of you will they cause to be put to death. | And you shall be betrayed by your parents and brethren, and kinsmen and friends; and some of you they will put to death. |
Luke 21:17 | and ye will be hated of all for my name's sake. | You will be hated by all men for my name's sake. | And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake. |
Luke 21:18 | And a hair of your head shall in no wise perish. | Not a hair of your head will perish. | But a hair of your head shall not perish. |
Luke 21:19 | By your patient endurance gain your souls. | By your endurance you will win your souls. | In your patience you shall possess your souls. |
Luke 21:20 | But when ye see Jerusalem encompassed with armies, then know that its desolation is drawn nigh. | "But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is at hand. | And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army; then know that the desolation thereof is at hand. |
Luke 21:21 | Then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains, and those who are in the midst of it depart out, and those who are in the country not enter into it; | Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. Let them who are in the midst of her depart. Don't let those who are in the country enter therein. | Then let those who are in Judea, flee to the mountains; and those who are in the midst thereof, depart out: and those who are in the countries, not enter into it. |
Luke 21:22 | for these are days of avenging, that all the things that are written may be accomplished. | For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. | For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be fulfilled, that are written. |
Luke 21:23 | But woe to them that are with child and to them who give suck in those days, for there shall be great distress upon the land and wrath upon this people. | Woe to those who are pregnant and to those who nurse infants in those days! For there will be great distress in the land, and wrath to this people. | But woe to them that are with child, and give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. |
Luke 21:24 | And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all the nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of [the] nations until [the] times of [the] nations be fulfilled. | They will fall by the edge of the sword, and will be led captive into all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled. | And they shall fall by the edge of the sword; and shall be led away captives into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles; till the times of the nations be fulfilled. |
Luke 21:25 | And there shall be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity [at] the roar of the sea and rolling waves, | There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars; and on the earth anxiety of nations, in perplexity for the roaring of the sea and the waves; | And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves; |
Luke 21:26 | men ready to die through fear and expectation of what is coming on the habitable earth, for the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. | men fainting for fear, and for expectation of the things which are coming on the world: for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. | Men withering away for fear, and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved; |

Luke 21:31 | So also *ye*, when ye see these things take place, know that the kingdom of God is near. | Even so you also, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. | So you also, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand. |
Luke 21:32 | Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall in no wise pass away until all come to pass. | Most assuredly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all things are accomplished. | Amen, I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all things be fulfilled. |
Luke 21:33 | The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but my words shall in no wise pass away. | Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will by no means pass away. | Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. |
Luke 21:34 | But take heed to yourselves lest possibly your hearts be laden with surfeiting and drinking and cares of life, and that day come upon you suddenly unawares; | "So be careful, or your hearts will be loaded down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that day will come on you suddenly. | And take heed to yourselves, lest perhaps your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly. |
Luke 21:35 | for as a snare shall it come upon all them that dwell upon the face of the whole earth. | For it will come like a snare on all those who dwell on the surface of all the earth. | For as a snare shall it come upon all that sit upon the face of the whole earth. |
