Genesis 34:1

And Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

And Dinah, daughter of Leah, whom she hath borne to Jacob, goeth out to look on the daughters of the land,

And Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she bare unto Jacob, went out to see the daughters of the land.

Genesis 34:2

And when Shechem, the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the country, saw her, he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.

and Shechem, son of Hamor the Hivite, a prince of the land, seeth her, and taketh her, and lieth with her, and humbleth her;

And Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, the prince of the land, saw her; And he took her, and lay with her, and humbled her.

Genesis 34:3

And his soul fastened on Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the maiden, and spoke consolingly to the maiden.

and his soul cleaveth to Dinah, daughter of Jacob, and he loveth the young person, and speaketh unto the heart of the young person.

And his soul clave unto Dinah the daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spake kindly unto the damsel.

Genesis 34:4

And Shechem spoke to his father Hamor, saying, Take me this girl as wife.

And Shechem speaketh unto Hamor his father, saying, `Take for me this damsel for a wife.`

And Shechem spake unto his father Hamor, saying, Get me this damsel to wife.

Genesis 34:5

And Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; but his sons were with his cattle in the fields, and Jacob said nothing until they came.

And Jacob hath heard that he hath defiled Dinah his daughter, and his sons were with his cattle in the field, and Jacob kept silent till their coming.

Now Jacob heard that he had defiled Dinah his daughter; and his sons were with his cattle in the field: and Jacob held his peace until they came.

Genesis 34:6

And Hamor the father of Shechem came out to Jacob, to speak to him.

And Hamor, father of Shechem, goeth out unto Jacob to speak with him;

And Hamor the father of Shechem went out unto Jacob to commune with him.

Genesis 34:7

And the sons of Jacob came from the fields when they heard [it]; and the men were grieved, and they were very angry, because he had wrought what was disgraceful in Israel, in lying with Jacob's daughter, which thing ought not to be done.

and the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard, and the men grieve themselves, and it [is] very displeasing to them, for folly he hath done against Israel, to lie with the daughter of Jacob and so it is not done.

And the sons of Jacob came in from the field when they heard it: and the men were grieved, and they were very wroth, because he had wrought folly in Israel in lying with Jacob's daughter; which thing ought not to be done.

Genesis 34:8

And Hamor spoke to them, saying, My son Shechem's soul cleaves to your daughter: I pray you, give her to him as wife.

And Hamor speaketh with them, saying, `Shechem, my son, his soul hath cleaved to your daughter; give her, I pray you, to him for a wife,

And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son Shechem longeth for your daughter: I pray you, give her unto him to wife.

Genesis 34:9

And make marriages with us: give your daughters to us, and take our daughters to you.

and join ye in marriage with us; your daughters ye give to us, and our daughters ye take to yourselves,

And make ye marriages with us; give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.

Genesis 34:10

And dwell with us, and the land shall be before you: dwell and trade in it, and get yourselves possessions in it.

and with us ye dwell, and the land is before you; dwell ye and trade [in] it, and have possessions in it.`

And ye shall dwell with us: and the land shall be before you; dwell and trade ye therein, and get you possessions therein.

Genesis 34:11

And Shechem said to her father and to her brethren, Let me find favour in your eyes; and what ye shall say to me I will give.

And Shechem saith unto her father, and unto her brethren, `Let me find grace in your eyes, and that which ye say unto me, I give;

And Shechem said unto her father and unto her brethren, Let me find favor in your eyes, and what ye shall say unto me I will give.

Genesis 34:12

Impose on me very much as dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say to me; but give me the maiden as wife.

multiply on me exceedingly dowry and gift, and I give as ye say unto me, and give to me the young person for a wife.`

Ask me never so much dowry and gift, and I will give according as ye shall say unto me: but give me the damsel to wife.

Genesis 34:13

And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and spoke because he had defiled Dinah their sister

And the sons of Jacob answer Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and they speak (because he defiled Dinah their sister),

And the sons of Jacob answered Shechem and Hamor his father with guile, and spake, because he had defiled Dinah their sister,

Genesis 34:14

and said to them, We cannot do this, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that [were] a reproach to us.

and say unto them, `We are not able to do this thing, to give our sister to one who hath a foreskin: for it [is] a reproach to us.

and said unto them, We cannot do this thing, to give our sister to one that is uncircumcised; for that were a reproach unto us.

Genesis 34:15

But only in this will we consent to you, if ye will be as we, that every male of you be circumcised;

`Only for this we consent to you; if ye be as we, to have every male of you circumcised,

Only on this condition will we consent unto you: if ye will be as we are, that every male of you be circumcised;

Genesis 34:16

then will we give our daughters to you, and take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and be one people.

then we have given our daughters to you, and your daughters we take to ourselves, and we have dwelt with you, and have become one people;

then will we give our daughters unto you, and we will take your daughters to us, and we will dwell with you, and we will become one people.

Genesis 34:17

But if ye do not hearken to us, to be circumcised, then will we take our daughter and go away.

and if ye hearken not unto us to be circumcised, then we have taken our daughter, and have gone.`

But if ye will not hearken unto us, to be circumcised; then will we take our daughter, and we will be gone.

Genesis 34:18

And their words were good in the eyes of Hamor and Shechem, Hamor's son.

And their words are good in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, Hamor`s son;

And their words pleased Hamor, and Shechem Hamor's son.

Genesis 34:19

And the youth did not delay to do this, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter. And he was honourable above all in the house of his father.

and the young man delayed not to do the thing, for he had delight in Jacob`s daughter, and he is honourable above all the house of his father.

And the young man deferred not to do the thing, because he had delight in Jacob's daughter: and he was honored above all the house of his father.

Genesis 34:20

And Hamor and Shechem his son came to the gate of their city, and spoke to the men of their city, saying,

And Hamor cometh Shechem his son also unto the gate of their city, and they speak unto the men of their city, saying,

And Hamor and Shechem his son came unto the gate of their city, and communed with the men of their city, saying,

Genesis 34:21

These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade in it. And the land behold, it is of wide extent before them. We will take their daughters as wives, and give them our daughters.

`These men are peaceable with us; then let them dwell in the land, and trade [in] it; and the land, lo, [is] wide before them; their daughters let us take to ourselves for wives, and our daughters give to them.

These men are peaceable with us; therefore let them dwell in the land, and trade therein; for, behold, the land is large enough for them; let us take their daughters to us for wives, and let us give them our daughters.

Genesis 34:22

But only in this will the men consent to us to dwell with us, to be one people if every male among us be circumcised, just as they are circumcised.

`Only for this do the men consent to us, to dwell with us, to become one people, in every male of us being circumcised, as they are circumcised;

Only on this condition will the men consent unto us to dwell with us, to become one people, if every male among us be circumcised, as they are circumcised.

Genesis 34:23

Their cattle, and their possessions, and every beast of theirs, shall they not be ours? only let us consent to them, and they will dwell with us.

their cattle, and their substance, and all their beasts are they not ours? only let us consent to them, and they dwell with us.`

Shall not their cattle and their substance and all their beasts be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.

Genesis 34:24

And all that went out at the gate of his city hearkened to Hamor and to Shechem his son; and every male was circumcised all that went out at the gate of his city.

And unto Hamor, and unto Shechem his son, hearken do all those going out of the gate of his city, and every male is circumcised, all those going out of the gate of his city.

And unto Hamor and unto Shechem his son hearkened all that went out of the gate of his city; and every male was circumcised, all that went out of the gate of his city.

Genesis 34:25

And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each his sword, and came upon the city boldly, and slew all the males.

And it cometh to pass, on the third day, in their being pained, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah`s brethren, take each his sword, and come in against the city confidently, and slay every male;

And it came to pass on the third day, when they were sore, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brethren, took each man his sword, and came upon the city unawares, and slew all the males.

Genesis 34:26

And Hamor and Shechem his son they slew with the edge of the sword; and took Dinah out of Shechem's house; and went out.

and Hamor, and Shechem his son, they have slain by the mouth of the sword, and they take Dinah out of Shechem`s house, and go out.

And they slew Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah out of Shechem's house, and went forth.

Genesis 34:27

The sons of Jacob came upon the slain, and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister.

Jacob`s sons have come in upon the wounded, and they spoil the city, because they had defiled their sister;

Genesis 34:28

Their sheep, and their oxen, and their asses, and what [was] in the city, and what [was] in the field they took;

their flock and their herd, and their asses, and that which [is] in the city, and that which [is] in the field, have they taken;

They took their flocks and their herds and their asses, and that which was in the city, and that which was in the field;

Genesis 34:29

and all their goods, and all their little ones, and their wives took they captive, and plundered them, and all that was in the houses.

and all their wealth, and all their infants, and their wives they have taken captive, and they spoil also all that [is] in the house.

and all their wealth, and all their little ones and their wives, took they captive and made a prey, even all that was in the house.

Genesis 34:30

And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, in that ye make me odious among the inhabitants of the land among the Canaanites and the Perizzites; and I am few men in number, and they will gather themselves against me and smite me, and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

And Jacob saith unto Simeon and unto Levi, `Ye have troubled me, by causing me to stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanite, and among the Perizzite: and I [am] few in number, and they have been gathered against me, and have smitten me, and I have been destroyed, I and my house.`

And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, Ye have troubled me, to make me odious to the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites and the Perizzites: and, I being few in number, they will gather themselves together against me and smite me; and I shall be destroyed, I and my house.

Genesis 34:31

And they said, Should people deal with our sister as with a harlot?

And they say, `As a harlot doth he make our sister?`

And they said, Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?
