Matthew 16:1And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming to [him], asked him, tempting [him], to shew them a sign out of heaven.And the Pharisees and Sadducees having come, tempting, did question him, to shew to them a sign from the heaven,And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and trying him asked him to show them a sign from heaven.
Matthew 16:2But he answering said to them, When evening is come, ye say, Fine weather, for the sky is red;and he answering said to them, `Evening having come, ye say, Fair weather, for the heaven is red,But he answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, [It will be] fair weather: for the heaven is red.
Matthew 16:3and in the morning, A storm to-day, for the sky is red [and] lowering; ye know [how] to discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot the signs of the times.and at morning, Foul weather to-day, for the heaven is red gloomy; hypocrites, the face of the heavens indeed ye do know to discern, but the signs of the times ye are not able!And in the morning, [It will be] foul weather to-day: for the heaven is red and lowering. Ye know how to discern the face of the heaven; but ye cannot [discern] the signs of the times.
Matthew 16:4A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it save the sign of Jonas. And he left them and went away.`A generation evil and adulterous doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;` and having left them he went away.An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
Matthew 16:5And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.And his disciples having come to the other side, forgot to take loaves,And the disciples came to the other side and forgot to take bread.
Matthew 16:6And Jesus said to them, See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.and Jesus said to them, `Beware, and take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees;`And Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Matthew 16:7And they reasoned among themselves, saying, Because we have taken no bread.and they were reasoning in themselves, saying, `Because we took no loaves.`And they reasoned among themselves, saying, We took no bread.
Matthew 16:8And Jesus knowing [it], said, Why reason ye among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have taken no bread?And Jesus having known, said to them, `Why reason ye in yourselves, ye of little faith, because ye took no loaves?And Jesus perceiving it said, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have no bread?
Matthew 16:9Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took [up]?do ye not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took up?Do ye not yet perceive, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Matthew 16:10nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took [up]?nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?
Matthew 16:11How do ye not understand that [it was] not concerning bread I said to you, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?how do ye not understand that I did not speak to you of bread to take heed of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?`How is it that ye do not perceive that I spake not to you concerning bread? But beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Matthew 16:12Then they comprehended that he did not speak of being beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.Then they understood that he did not say to take heed of the leaven of the bread, but of the teaching, of the Pharisees and Sadducees.Then understood they that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
Matthew 16:13But when Jesus was come into the parts of Caesarea-Philippi, he demanded of his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?And Jesus, having come to the parts of Cesarea Philippi, was asking his disciples, saying, `Who do men say me to be the Son of Man?`Now when Jesus came into the parts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Who do men say that the Son of man is?
Matthew 16:14And they said, Some, John the baptist; and others, Elias; and others again, Jeremias or one of the prophets.and they said, `Some, John the Baptist, and others, Elijah, and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.`And they said, Some [say] John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.
Matthew 16:15He says to them, But *ye*, who do ye say that I am?He saith to them, `And ye who do ye say me to be?`He saith unto them, But who say ye that I am?
Matthew 16:16And Simon Peter answering said, *Thou* art the Christ, the Son of the living God.and Simon Peter answering said, `Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.`And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Matthew 16:17And Jesus answering said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona, for flesh and blood has not revealed [it] to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.And Jesus answering said to him, `Happy art thou, Simon Bar-Jona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [it] to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jonah: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 16:18And *I* also, I say unto thee that *thou* art Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and hades' gates shall not prevail against it.`And I also say to thee, that thou art a rock, and upon this rock I will build my assembly, and gates of Hades shall not prevail against it;And I also say unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
Matthew 16:19And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be bound in the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest loose on the earth shall be loosed in the heavens.and I will give to thee the keys of the reign of the heavens, and whatever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be having been bound in the heavens, and whatever thou mayest loose upon the earth shall be having been loosed in the heavens.`I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Matthew 16:20Then he enjoined on his disciples that they should say to no man that he was the Christ.Then did he charge his disciples that they may say to no one that he is Jesus the Christ.Then charged he the disciples that they should tell no man that he was the Christ.
Matthew 16:21From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples that he must go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised.From that time began Jesus to shew to his disciples that it is necessary for him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes, and to be put to death, and the third day to rise.From that time began Jesus to show unto his disciples, that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.
Matthew 16:22And Peter taking him to [him] began to rebuke him, saying, [God] be favourable to thee, Lord; this shall in no wise be unto thee.And having taken him aside, Peter began to rebuke him, saying, `Be kind to thyself, sir; this shall not be to thee;`And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall never be unto thee.
Matthew 16:23But turning round, he said to Peter, Get away behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.and he having turned, said to Peter, `Get thee behind me, adversary! thou art a stumbling-block to me, for thou dost not mind the things of God, but the things of men.`But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art a stumbling-block unto me: for thou mindest not the things of God, but the things of men.
Matthew 16:24Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.Then said Jesus to his disciples, `If any one doth will to come after me, let him disown himself, and take up his cross, and follow me,Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Matthew 16:25For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.for whoever may will to save his life, shall lose it, and whoever may lose his life for my sake shall find it,For whosoever would save his life shall lose it: and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Matthew 16:26For what does a man profit, if he should gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?for what is a man profited if he may gain the whole world, but of his life suffer loss? or what shall a man give as an exchange for his life?For what shall a man be profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?
Matthew 16:27For the Son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to each according to his doings.`For, the Son of Man is about to come in the glory of his Father, with his messengers, and then he will reward each, according to his work.For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.
Matthew 16:28Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste of death at all until they shall have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.Verily I say to you, there are certain of those standing here who shall not taste of death till they may see the Son of Man coming in his reign.`Verily I say unto you, there are some of them that stand here, who shall in no wise taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
