Hebrews 8:1Now a summary of the things of which we are speaking [is], We have such a one high priest who has sat down on [the] right hand of the throne of the greatness in the heavens;And the sum concerning the things spoken of [is]: we have such a chief priest, who did sit down at the right hand of the throne of the greatness in the heavens,Now of the things we are saying this is the chief point: We have such a high priest, who has taken his place at the right hand of God's high seat of glory in heaven,
Hebrews 8:2minister of the holy places and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord has pitched, [and] not man.of the holy places a servant, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord did set up, and not man,As a servant of the holy things and of the true Tent, which was put up by God, not by man.
Hebrews 8:3For every high priest is constituted for the offering both of gifts and sacrifices; whence it is needful that this one also should have something which he may offer.for every chief priest to offer both gifts and sacrifices is appointed, whence [it is] necessary for this one to have also something that he may offer;Now every high priest is given authority to take to God the things which are given and to make offerings; so that it is necessary for this man, like them, to have something for an offering.
Hebrews 8:4If then indeed he were upon earth, he would not even be a priest, there being those who offer the gifts according to the law,for if, indeed, he were upon earth, he would not be a priest (there being the priests who are offering according to the law, the gifts,If he had been on earth he would not have been a priest at all, because there are other priests who make the offerings ordered by the law;
Hebrews 8:5(who serve the representation and shadow of heavenly things, according as Moses was oracularly told [when] about to make the tabernacle; for See, saith He, that thou make all things according to the pattern which has been shewn to thee in the mountain.)who unto an example and shadow do serve of the heavenly things, as Moses hath been divinely warned, being about to construct the tabernacle, for `See (saith He) thou mayest make all things according to the pattern that was shewn to thee in the mount;`)Being servants of that which is a copy and an image of the things in heaven, as Moses, when he was about to make the Tent, had special orders from God: for, See, he said, that you make everything like the design which you saw in the mountain.
Hebrews 8:6But now he has got a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is mediator of a better covenant, which is established on the footing of better promises.and now he hath obtained a more excellent service, how much also of a better covenant is he mediator, which on better promises hath been sanctioned,But now his position as priest is higher. because through him God has made a better agreement with man, based on the giving of better things.
Hebrews 8:7For if that first was faultless, place had not been sought for a second.for if that first were faultless, a place would not have been sought for a second.For if that first agreement had been as good as possible, there would have been no place for a second.
Hebrews 8:8For finding fault, he says to them, Behold, days come, saith the Lord, and I will consummate a new covenant as regards the house of Israel, and as regards the house of Juda;For finding fault, He saith to them, `Lo, days come, saith the Lord, and I will complete with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah, a new covenant,For, protesting against them, he says, See, the days are coming when I will make a new agreement with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah;
Hebrews 8:9not according to the covenant which I made to their fathers in [the] day of my taking their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because *they* did not continue in my covenant, and *I* did not regard them, saith [the] Lord.not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, in the day of My taking [them] by their hand, to bring them out of the land of Egypt because they did not remain in My covenant, and I did not regard them, saith the Lord,Not like the agreement which I made with their fathers when I took them by the hand, to be their guide out of the land of Egypt; for they did not keep the agreement with me, and I gave them up, says the Lord.
Hebrews 8:10Because this [is] the covenant that I will covenant to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: Giving my laws into their mind, I will write them also upon their hearts; and I will be to them for God, and *they* shall be to me for people.because this [is] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, after those days, saith the Lord, giving My laws into their mind, and upon their hearts I will write them, and I will be to them for a God, and they shall be to Me for a people;For this is the agreement which I will make with the people of Israel after those days: I will put my laws into their minds, writing them in their hearts: and I will be their God, and they will be my people:
Hebrews 8:11And they shall not teach each his fellow-citizen, and each his brother, saying, Know the Lord; because all shall know me in themselves, from [the] little one [among them] unto [the] great among them.and they shall not teach each his neighbour, and each his brother, saying, Know thou the Lord, because they shall all know Me from the small one of them unto the great one of them,And there will be no need for every man to be teaching his brother, or his neighbour, saying, This is the knowledge of the Lord: for they will all have knowledge of me, great and small.
Hebrews 8:12Because I will be merciful to their unrighteousnesses, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will never remember any more.because I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawlessnesses I will remember no more;`And I will have mercy on their evil-doing, and I will not keep their sins in mind.
Hebrews 8:13In that he says New, he has made the first old; but that which grows old and aged [is] near disappearing.in the saying `new,` He hath made the first old, and what doth become obsolete and is old [is] nigh disappearing.When he says, A new agreement, he has made the first agreement old. But anything which is getting old and past use will not be seen much longer.
