Acts 4:1And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and captain of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,And as they are speaking unto the people, there came to them the priests, and the magistrate of the temple, and the SadduceesAnd as they were speaking to the people, the priests, and the officer of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them,
Acts 4:2being distressed on account of their teaching the people and preaching by Jesus the resurrection from among [the] dead;being grieved because of their teaching the people, and preaching in Jesus the rising again out of the deadBeing grieved that they taught the people, and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead:
Acts 4:3and they laid hands on them, and put them in ward till the morrow; for it was already evening.and they laid hands upon them, and did put them in custody unto the morrow, for it was evening already;And they laid hands upon them, and put them in hold till the next day; for it was now evening.
Acts 4:4But many of those who had heard the word believed; and the number of the men had become [about] five thousand.and many of those hearing the word did believe, and the number of the men became, as it were, five thousand.But many of them who had heard the word, believed; and the number of the men was made five thousand.
Acts 4:5And it came to pass on the morrow that their rulers and elders and scribes were gathered together at Jerusalem,And it came to pass upon the morrow, there were gathered together of them the rulers, and elders, and scribes, to Jerusalem,And it came to pass on the morrow, that their princes, and ancients, and scribes, were gathered together in Jerusalem;
Acts 4:6and Annas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of [the] high priestly family;and Annas the chief priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the chief priest,And Annas the high priest, and Caiphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the kindred of the high priest.
Acts 4:7and having placed them in the midst they inquired, In what power or in what name have *ye* done this?and having set them in the midst, they were inquiring, `In what power, or in what name did ye do this?`And setting them in the midst, they asked: By what power, or by what name, have you done this?
Acts 4:8Then Peter, filled with [the] Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and elders [of Israel],Then Peter, having been filled with the Holy Spirit, said unto them: `Rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said to them: Ye princes of the people, and ancients, hear:
Acts 4:9if *we* this day are called upon to answer as to the good deed [done] to the infirm man, how *he* has been healed,if we to-day are examined concerning the good deed to the ailing man, by whom he hath been saved,If we this day are examined concerning the good deed done to the infirm man, by what means he hath been made whole:
Acts 4:10be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ the Nazaraean, whom *ye* have crucified, whom God has raised from among [the] dead, by *him* this [man] stands here before you sound [in body].be it known to all of you, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye did crucify, whom God did raise out of the dead, in him hath this one stood by before you whole.Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God hath raised from the dead, even by him this man standeth here before you whole.
Acts 4:11*He* is the stone which has been set at nought by you the builders, which is become the corner stone.`This is the stone that was set at nought by you the builders, that became head of a corner;This is the stone which was rejected by you the builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Acts 4:12And salvation is in none other, for neither is there another name under heaven which is given among men by which we must be saved.and there is not salvation in any other, for there is no other name under the heaven that hath been given among men, in which it behoveth us to be saved.`Neither is there salvation in any other. For there is no other name under heaven given to men, whereby we must be saved.
Acts 4:13But seeing the boldness of Peter and John, and perceiving that they were unlettered and uninstructed men, they wondered; and they recognised them that they were with Jesus.And beholding the openness of Peter and John, and having perceived that they are men unlettered and plebeian, they were wondering they were taking knowledge also of them that with Jesus they had beenNow seeing the constancy of Peter and of John, understanding that they were illiterate and ignorant men, they wondered; and they knew them that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:14And beholding the man who had been healed standing with them, they had nothing to reply;and seeing the man standing with them who hath been healed, they had nothing to say against [it],Seeing the man also who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
Acts 4:15but having commanded them to go out of the council they conferred with one another,and having commanded them to go away out of the sanhedrim, they took counsel with one another,But they commanded them to go aside out of the council; and they conferred among themselves,
Acts 4:16saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed an evident sign has come to pass through their means is manifest to all that inhabit Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.saying, `What shall we do to these men? because that, indeed, a notable sign hath been done through them, to all those dwelling in Jerusalem [is] manifest, and we are not able to deny [it];Saying: What shall we do to these men? for indeed a known miracle hath been done by them, to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem: it is manifest, and we cannot deny it.
Acts 4:17But that it be not further spread among the people, let us threaten them severely no longer to speak to any man in this name.but that it may spread no further toward the people, let us strictly threaten them no more to speak in this name to any man.`But that it may be no farther spread among the people, let us threaten them that they speak no more in this name to any man.
Acts 4:18And having called them, they charged [them] not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.And having called them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor to teach, in the name of Jesus,And calling them, they charged them not to speak at all, nor teach in the name of Jesus.
Acts 4:19But Peter and John answering said to them, If it be righteous before God to listen to you rather than to God, judge ye;and Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;But Peter and John answering, said to them: If it be just in the sight of God, to hear you rather than God, judge ye.
Acts 4:20for as for us *we* cannot refrain from speaking of the things which we have seen and heard.for we cannot but speak what we did see and hear.`For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
Acts 4:21But they, having further threatened them, let them go, finding no way how they might punish them, on account of the people, because all glorified God for what had taken place;And they having further threatened [them], let them go, finding nothing how they may punish them, because of the people, because all were glorifying God for that which hath been done,But they threatening, sent them away, not finding how they might punish them, because of the people; for all men glorified what had been done, in that which had come to pass.
Acts 4:22for the man on whom this sign of healing had taken place was above forty years old.for above forty years of age was the man upon whom had been done this sign of the healing.For the man was above forty years old, in whom that miraculous cure had been wrought.
Acts 4:23And having been let go, they came to their own [company], and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.And being let go, they went unto their own friends, and declared whatever the chief priests and the elders said unto them,And being let go, they came to their own company, and related all that the chief priests and ancients had said to them.
Acts 4:24And they, having heard [it], lifted up [their] voice with one accord to God, and said, Lord, *thou* art the God who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them;and they having heard, with one accord did lift up the voice unto God, and said, `Lord, thou [art] God, who didst make the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and all that [are] in them,Who having heard it, with one accord lifted up their voice to God, and said: Lord, thou art he that didst make heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.
Acts 4:25who hast said by the mouth of thy servant David, Why have [the] nations raged haughtily and [the] peoples meditated vain things?who, through the mouth of David thy servant, did say, Why did nations rage, and peoples meditate vain things?Who, by the Holy Ghost, by the mouth of our father David, thy servant, hast said: Why did the Gentiles rage, and the people meditate vain things?
Acts 4:26The kings of the earth were there, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against his Christ.the kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord and against His Christ;The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes assembled together against the Lord and his Christ.
Acts 4:27For in truth against thy holy servant Jesus, whom thou hadst anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with [the] nations, and peoples of Israel, have been gathered together in this cityfor gathered together of a truth against Thy holy child Jesus, whom Thou didst anoint, were both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with nations and peoples of Israel,For of a truth there assembled together in this city against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel,
Acts 4:28to do whatever thy hand and thy counsel had determined before should come to pass.to do whatever Thy hand and Thy counsel did determine before to come to pass.To do what thy hand and thy counsel decreed to be done.
Acts 4:29And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and give to thy bondmen with all boldness to speak thy word,`And now, Lord, look upon their threatenings, and grant to Thy servants with all freedom to speak Thy word,And now, Lord, behold their threatenings, and grant unto thy servants, that with all confidence they may speak thy word,
Acts 4:30in that thou stretchest out thy hand to heal, and that signs and wonders take place through the name of thy holy servant Jesus.in the stretching forth of Thy hand, for healing, and signs, and wonders, to come to pass through the name of Thy holy child Jesus.`By stretching forth thy hand to cures, and signs, and wonders to be done by the name of thy holy Son Jesus.
Acts 4:31And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and spoke the word of God with boldness.And they having prayed, the place was shaken in which they were gathered together, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and were speaking the word of God with freedom,And when they had prayed, the place was moved wherein they were assembled; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with confidence.
Acts 4:32And the heart and soul of the multitude of those that had believed were one, and not one said that anything of what he possessed was his own, but all things were common to them;and of the multitude of those who did believe the heart and the soul was one, and not one was saying that anything of the things he had was his own, but all things were to them in common.And the multitude of believers had but one heart and one soul: neither did any one say that aught of the things which he possessed, was his own; but all things were common unto them.
Acts 4:33and with great power did the apostles give witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.And with great power were the apostles giving the testimony to the rising again of the Lord Jesus, great grace also was on them all,And with great power did the apostles give testimony of the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord; and great grace was in them all.
Acts 4:34For neither was there any one in want among them; for as many as were owners of lands or houses, selling them, brought the price of what was soldfor there was not any one among them who did lack, for as many as were possessors of fields, or houses, selling [them], were bringing the prices of the thing sold,For neither was there any one needy among them. For as many as were owners of lands or houses, sold them, and brought the price of the things they sold,
Acts 4:35and laid it at the feet of the apostles; and distribution was made to each according as any one might have need.and were laying them at the feet of the apostles, and distribution was being made to each according as any one had need.And laid it down before the feet of the apostles. And distribution was made to every one, according as he had need.
Acts 4:36And Joseph, who had been surnamed Barnabas by the apostles (which is, being interpreted, Son of consolation), a Levite, Cyprian by birth,And Joses, who was surnamed by the apostles Barnabas which is, having been interpreted, Son of Comfort a Levite, of Cyprus by birth,And Joseph, who, by the apostles, was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, by interpretation, The son of consolation,) a Levite, a Cyprian born,
Acts 4:37being possessed of land, having sold [it], brought the money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.a field being his, having sold [it], brought the money and laid [it] at the feet of the apostles.Having land, sold it, and brought the price, and laid it at the feet of the apostles.
