Matthew 12:1At that time Jesus went on the sabbath through the cornfields; and his disciples were hungry, and began to pluck the ears and to eat.At that time did Jesus go on the sabbaths through the corn, and his disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck ears, and to eat,At that time Jesus went through the corn on the sabbath: and his disciples being hungry, began to pluck the ears, and to eat.
Matthew 12:2But the Pharisees, seeing [it], said to him, Behold, thy disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on sabbath.and the Pharisees having seen, said to him, `Lo, thy disciples do that which it is not lawful to do on a sabbath.`And the Pharisees seeing them, said to him: Behold thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do on the sabbath days.
Matthew 12:3But he said to them, Have ye not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him?And he said to them, `Did ye not read what David did, when he was hungry, himself and those with himBut he said to them: Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and they that were with him:
Matthew 12:4How he entered into the house of God, and ate the shewbread, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those with him, but for the priests only?how he went into the house of God, and the loaves of the presentation did eat, which it is not lawful to him to eat, nor to those with him, except to the priests alone?How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which it was not lawful for him to eat, nor for them that were with him, but for the priests only?
Matthew 12:5Or have ye not read in the law that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?`Or did ye not read in the Law, that on the sabbaths the priests in the temple do profane the sabbath, and are blameless?Or have ye not read in the law, that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple break the sabbath, and are without blame?
Matthew 12:6But I say unto you, that there is here what is greater than the temple.and I say to you, that a greater than the temple is here;But I tell you that there is here a greater than the temple.
Matthew 12:7But if ye had known what is: I will have mercy and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.and if ye had known what is: Kindness I will, and not sacrifice ye had not condemned the blameless,And if you knew what this meaneth: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: you would never have condemned the innocent.
Matthew 12:8For the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath.for the son of man is lord even of the sabbath.`For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.
Matthew 12:9And, going away from thence, he came into their synagogue.And having departed thence, he went to their synagogue,And when he has passed from thence, he came into their synagogues.
Matthew 12:10And behold, there was a man having his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath? that they might accuse him.and lo, there was a man having the hand withered, and they questioned him, saying, `Is it lawful to heal on the sabbaths?` that they might accuse him.And behold there was a man who had a withered hand, and they asked him, saying: Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
Matthew 12:11But he said to them, What man shall there be of you who has one sheep, and if this fall into a pit on the sabbath, will not lay hold of it and raise [it] up?And he said to them, `What man shall be of you, who shall have one sheep, and if this may fall on the sabbaths into a ditch, will not lay hold on it and raise [it]?But he said to them: What man shall there be among you, that hath one sheep: and if the same fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not take hold on it and lift it up?
Matthew 12:12How much better then is a man than a sheep! So that it is lawful to do well on the sabbath.How much better, therefore, is a man than a sheep? so that it is lawful on the sabbaths to do good.`How much better is a man than a sheep? Therefore it it lawful to do a good deed on the sabbath days.
Matthew 12:13Then he says to the man, Stretch out thy hand. And he stretched [it] out, and it was restored sound as the other.Then saith he to the man, `Stretch forth thy hand,` and he stretched [it] forth, and it was restored whole as the other.Then he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand; and he stretched it forth, and it was restored to health even as the other.
Matthew 12:14But the Pharisees, having gone out, took counsel against him, how they might destroy him.And the Pharisees having gone forth, held a consultation against him, how they might destroy him,And the Pharisees going out made a consultation against him, how they might destroy him.
Matthew 12:15But Jesus knowing [it], withdrew thence, and great crowds followed him; and he healed them all:and Jesus having known, withdrew thence, and there followed him great multitudes, and he healed them all,But Jesus knowing it, retired from thence: and many followed him, and he healed them all.
Matthew 12:16and charged them strictly that they should not make him publicly known:and did charge them that they might not make him manifest,And he charged them that they should not make him known.
Matthew 12:17that that might be fulfilled which was spoken through Esaias the prophet, saying,that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying,That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaias the prophet, saying:
Matthew 12:18Behold my servant, whom I have chosen, my beloved, in whom my soul has found its delight. I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall shew forth judgment to the nations.`Lo, My servant, whom I did choose, My beloved, in whom My soul did delight, I will put My Spirit upon him, and judgment to the nations he shall declare,Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul hath been well pleased. I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Matthew 12:19He shall not strive or cry out, nor shall any one hear his voice in the streets;he shall not strive nor cry, nor shall any hear in the broad places his voice,He shall not contend, nor cry out, neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
Matthew 12:20a bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, until he bring forth judgment unto victory;a bruised reed he shall not break, and smoking flax he shall not quench, till he may put forth judgment to victory,The bruised reed he shall not break: and smoking flax he shall not extinguish: till he send forth judgment unto victory.
Matthew 12:21and on his name shall [the] nations hope.and in his name shall nations hope.`And in his name the Gentiles shall hope.
Matthew 12:22Then was brought to him one possessed by a demon, blind and dumb, and he healed him, so that the dumb [man] spake and saw.Then was brought to him a demoniac, blind and dumb, and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.Then was offered to him one possessed with a devil, blind and dumb: and he healed him, so that he spoke and saw.
Matthew 12:23And all the crowds were amazed and said, Is this [man] the Son of David?And all the multitudes were amazed, and said, `Is this the Son of David?`And all the multitudes were amazed, and said: Is not this the son of David?
Matthew 12:24But the Pharisees, having heard [it], said, This [man] does not cast out demons, but by Beelzebub, prince of demons.but the Pharisees having heard, said, `This one doth not cast out demons, except by Beelzeboul, ruler of the demons.`But the Pharisees hearing it, said: This man casteth not out the devils but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Matthew 12:25But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not subsist.And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said to them, `Every kingdom having been divided against itself is desolated, and no city or house having been divided against itself, doth stand,And Jesus knowing their thoughts, said to them: Every kingdom divided against itself shall be made desolate: and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.
Matthew 12:26And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom subsist?and if the Adversary doth cast out the Adversary, against himself he was divided, how then doth his kingdom stand?And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself: how then shall his kingdom stand?
Matthew 12:27And if *I* cast out demons by Beelzebub, your sons, by whom do they cast [them] out? For this reason *they* shall be your judges.`And if I, by Beelzeboul, do cast out the demons, your sons by whom do they cast out? because of this they they shall be your judges.And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges.
Matthew 12:28But if *I* by [the] Spirit of God cast out demons, then indeed the kingdom of God is come upon you.`But if I, by the Spirit of God, do cast out the demons, then come already unto you did the reign of God.But if I by the Spirit of God cast out devils, then is the kingdom of God come upon you.
Matthew 12:29Or how can any one enter into the house of the strong [man] and plunder his goods, unless first he bind the strong [man]? and then he will plunder his house.`Or how is one able to go into the house of the strong man, and to plunder his goods, if first he may not bind the strong man? and then his house he will plunder.Or how can any one enter into the house of the strong, and rifle his goods, unless he first bind the strong? and then he will rifle his house.
Matthew 12:30He that is not with me is against me, and he that gathers not with me scatters.`He who is not with me is against me, and he who is not gathering with me, doth scatter.He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth.
Matthew 12:31For this reason I say unto you, Every sin and injurious speaking shall be forgiven to men, but speaking injuriously of the Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.Because of this I say to you, all sin and evil speaking shall be forgiven to men, but the evil speaking of the Spirit shall not be forgiven to men.Therefore I say to you: Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but the blasphemy of the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
Matthew 12:32And whosoever shall have spoken a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him; but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age nor in the coming [one].And whoever may speak a word against the Son of Man it shall be forgiven to him, but whoever may speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, nor in that which is coming.And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but he that shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, nor in the world to come.
Matthew 12:33Either make the tree good, and its fruit good; or make the tree corrupt, and its fruit corrupt. For from the fruit the tree is known.`Either make the tree good, and its fruit good, or make the tree bad, and its fruit bad, for from the fruit is the tree known.Either make the tree good and its fruit good: or make the tree evil, and its fruit evil. For by the fruit the tree is known.
Matthew 12:34Offspring of vipers! how can ye speak good things, being wicked? For of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.`Brood of vipers! how are ye able to speak good things being evil? for out of the abundance of the heart doth the mouth speak.O generation of vipers, how can you speak good things, whereas you are evil? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Matthew 12:35The good man out of the good treasure brings forth good things; and the wicked man out of the wicked treasure brings forth wicked things.The good man out of the good treasure of the heart doth put forth the good things, and the evil man out of the evil treasure doth put forth evil things.A good man out of a good treasure bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of an evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matthew 12:36But I say unto you, that every idle word which men shall say, they shall render an account of it in judgment-day:`And I say to you, that every idle word that men may speak, they shall give for it a reckoning in a day of judgment;But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall render an account for it in the day of judgment.
Matthew 12:37for by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.for from thy words thou shalt be declared righteous, and from thy words thou shalt be declared unrighteous.`For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Matthew 12:38Then answered him some of the scribes and Pharisees, saying, Teacher, we desire to see a sign from thee.Then answered certain of the scribes and Pharisees, saying, `Teacher, we will to see a sign from thee.`Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered him, saying: Master we would see a sign from thee.
Matthew 12:39But he, answering, said to them, A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it save the sign of Jonas the prophet.And he answering said to them, `A generation, evil and adulterous, doth seek a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet;Who answering said to them: An evil and adulterous generation seeketh a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Matthew 12:40For even as Jonas was in the belly of the great fish three days and three nights, thus shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.for, as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so shall the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.For as Jonas was in the whale's belly three days and three nights: so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.
Matthew 12:41Ninevites shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and behold, more than Jonas [is] here.`Men of Nineveh shall stand up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for they reformed at the proclamation of Jonah, and lo, a greater than Jonah here!The men of Ninive shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they did penance at the preaching of Jonas. And behold a greater than Jonas here.
Matthew 12:42A queen of [the] south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, more than Solomon [is] here.`A queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and lo, a greater than Solomon here!The queen of the south shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold ------------------------------------------------------------------ Transfer interrupted! And when an unclean spirit is gone out of a man he walketh through dry places seeking rest, and findeth none.
Matthew 12:43But when the unclean spirit has gone out of the man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and does not find [it].`And, when the unclean spirit may go forth from the man, it doth walk through dry places seeking rest, and doth not find;Then he saith: I will return into my house from whence I came out. And coming he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Matthew 12:44Then he says, I will return to my house whence I came out; and having come, he finds [it] unoccupied, swept, and adorned.then it saith, I will turn back to my house whence I came forth; and having come, it findeth [it] unoccupied, swept, and adorned:Then he goeth, and taketh with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man in made worse than the first. So shall it be also to this wicked generation.
Matthew 12:45Then he goes and takes with himself seven other spirits worse than himself, and entering in, they dwell there; and the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first. Thus shall it be to this wicked generation also.then doth it go, and take with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and having gone in they dwell there, and the last of that man doth become worse than the first; so shall it be also to this evil generation.`As he was yet speaking to the multitudes, behold his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.
Matthew 12:46But while he was yet speaking to the crowds, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, seeking to speak to him.And while he was yet speaking to the multitudes, lo, his mother and brethren had stood without, seeking to speak to him,And one said unto him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren stand without, seeking thee.
Matthew 12:47Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren are standing without, seeking to speak to thee.and one said to him, `Lo, thy mother and thy brethren do stand without, seeking to speak to thee.`But he answering him that told him, said: Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?
Matthew 12:48But he answering said to him that spoke to him, Who is my mother, and who are my brethren?And he answering said to him who spake to him, `Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?`And stretching forth his hand towards his disciples, he said: Behold my mother and my brethren.
Matthew 12:49And, stretching out his hand to his disciples, he said, Behold my mother and my brethren;And having stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, he said, `Lo, my mother and my brethren!For whosoever shall do the will of my Father, that is in heaven, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Matthew 12:50for whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in [the] heavens, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.for whoever may do the will of my Father who is in the heavens, he is my brother, and sister, and mother.`
