John 20:1And on the first [day] of the week Mary of Magdala comes in early morn to the tomb, while it was still dark, and sees the stone taken away from the tomb.And on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, to the sepulcher, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulcher.
John 20:2She runs therefore and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, to whom Jesus was attached, and says to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we know not where they have laid him.she runneth, therefore, and cometh unto Simon Peter, and unto the other disciple whom Jesus was loving, and saith to them, `They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid him.`Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid him.
John 20:3Peter therefore went forth, and the other disciple, and came to the tomb.Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple, and came to the sepulcher.
John 20:4And the two ran together, and the other disciple ran forward faster than Peter, and came first to the tomb,and the two were running together, and the other disciple did run forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,So they ran both together: and the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the sepulcher.
John 20:5and stooping down he sees the linen cloths lying; he did not however go in.and having stooped down, seeth the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he entered not.And he stooping down, saw the linen cloths lying; yet he went not in.
John 20:6Simon Peter therefore comes, following him, and entered into the tomb, and sees the linen cloths lying,Simon Peter, therefore, cometh, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholdeth the linen clothes lying,Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulcher, and seeth the linen cloths lying;
John 20:7and the handkerchief which was upon his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded up in a distinct place by itself.and the napkin that was upon his head, not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;And the napkin that was about his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but wrapped together in a place by itself.
John 20:8Then entered in therefore the other disciple also who came first to the tomb, and he saw and believed;then, therefore, entered also the other disciple who came first unto the tomb, and he saw, and did believe;Then went in also that other disciple who came first to the sepulcher, and he saw, and believed.
John 20:9for they had not yet known the scripture, that he must rise from among [the] dead.for not yet did they know the Writing, that it behoveth him out of the dead to rise again.For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.
John 20:10The disciples therefore went away again to their own home.The disciples therefore went away again unto their own friends,Then the disciples went away again to their own home.
John 20:11But Mary stood at the tomb weeping without. As therefore she wept, she stooped down into the tomb,and Mary was standing near the tomb, weeping without; as she was weeping, then, she stooped down to the tomb, and beholdeth two messengers in white, sitting,But Mary stood without at the sepulcher weeping: and as she wept she stooped down to look into the sepulcher,
John 20:12and beholds two angels sitting in white [garments], one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.one at the head, and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.And seeth two angels in white, sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
John 20:13And they say to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? She says to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.And they say to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep?` she saith to them, `Because they took away my Lord, and I have not known where they laid him;`And they say to her, Woman, why weepest thou? she saith to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.
John 20:14Having said these things she turned backward and beholds Jesus standing [there], and knew not that it was Jesus.and these things having said, she turned backward, and seeth Jesus standing, and she had not known that it is Jesus.And when she had thus said, she turned herself about, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.
John 20:15Jesus says to her, Woman, why dost thou weep? Whom seekest thou? She, supposing that it was the gardener, says to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.Jesus saith to her, `Woman, why dost thou weep? whom dost thou seek;` she, supposing that he is the gardener, saith to him, `Sir, if thou didst carry him away, tell me where thou didst lay him, and I will take him away;`Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
John 20:16Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning round, says to him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher.Jesus saith to her, `Mary!` having turned, she saith to him, `Rabbouni;` that is to say, `Teacher.`Jesus saith to her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith to him, Rabboni, which is to say, Master.
John 20:17Jesus says to her, Touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and [to] my God and your God.Jesus saith to her, `Be not touching me, for I have not yet ascended unto my Father; and be going on to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and to your God.`Jesus saith to her, Touch me not: for I have not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God.
John 20:18Mary of Magdala comes bringing word to the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and [that] he had said these things to her.Mary the Magdalene cometh, telling to the disciples that she hath seen the Lord, and [that] these things he said to her.Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her.
John 20:19When therefore it was evening on that day, which was the first [day] of the week, and the doors shut where the disciples were, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, Peace [be] to you.It being, therefore, evening, on that day, the first of the sabbaths, and the doors having been shut where the disciples were assembled, through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, `Peace to you;`Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be to you.
John 20:20And having said this, he shewed to them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced therefore, having seen the Lord.and this having said, he shewed them his hands and side; the disciples, therefore, rejoiced, having seen the Lord.And when he had so said, he showed to them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad when they saw the Lord.
John 20:21[Jesus] said therefore again to them, Peace [be] to you: as the Father sent me forth, I also send you.Jesus, therefore, said to them again, `Peace to you; according as the Father hath sent me, I also send you;`Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be to you: as my Father hath sent me, even so I send you.
John 20:22And having said this, he breathed into [them], and says to them, Receive [the] Holy Spirit:and this having said, he breathed on [them], and saith to them, `Receive the Holy Spirit;And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith to them, Receive ye the Holy Spirit.
John 20:23whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; whose soever [sins] ye retain, they are retained.if of any ye may loose the sins, they are loosed to them; if of any ye may retain, they have been retained.`Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained.
John 20:24But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.And Thomas, one of the twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came;But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
John 20:25The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.the other disciples, therefore, said to him, `We have seen the Lord;` and he said to them, `If I may not see in his hands the mark of the nails, and may put my finger to the mark of the nails, and may put my hand to his side, I will not believe.`The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
John 20:26And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus comes, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace [be] to you.And after eight days, again were his disciples within, and Thomas with them; Jesus cometh, the doors having been shut, and he stood in the midst, and said, `Peace to you!`And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you.
John 20:27Then he says to Thomas, Bring thy finger here and see my hands; and bring thy hand and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.then he saith to Thomas, `Bring thy finger hither, and see my hands, and bring thy hand, and put [it] to my side, and become not unbelieving, but believing.`Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side; and be not faithless, but believing.
John 20:28Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.And Thomas answered and said to him, `My Lord and my God;`And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29Jesus says to him, Because thou hast seen me thou hast believed: blessed they who have not seen and have believed.Jesus saith to him, `Because thou hast seen me, Thomas, thou hast believed; happy those not having seen, and having believed.`Jesus saith to him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
John 20:30Many other signs therefore also Jesus did before his disciples, which are not written in this book;Many indeed, therefore, other signs also did Jesus before his disciples, that are not written in this book;And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
John 20:31but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.and these have been written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life in his name.`But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life through his name.
