| Matthew 3:1 | Now in those days comes John the baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, | And in those days cometh John the Baptist, proclaiming in the wilderness of Judea, | About this time John the Baptist made his appearance, preaching in the Desert of Judaea. |
| Matthew 3:2 | and saying, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn nigh. | and saying, `Reform, for come nigh hath the reign of the heavens,` | "Repent," he said, "for the Kingdom of the Heavens is now close at hand." |

| Matthew 3:10 | And already the axe is applied to the root of the trees; every tree therefore not producing good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. | and now also, the axe unto the root of the trees is laid, every tree therefore not bearing good fruit is hewn down, and to fire is cast. | And already the axe is lying at the root of the trees, so that every tree which does not produce good fruit will quickly be hewn down and thrown into the fire. |
| Matthew 3:11 | *I* indeed baptise you with water to repentance, but he that comes after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not fit to bear; *he* shall baptise you with [the] Holy Spirit and fire; | `I indeed do baptize you with water to reformation, but he who after me is coming is mightier than I, of whom I am not worthy to bear the sandals, he shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire, | I indeed am baptizing you in water on a profession of repentance; but He who is coming after me is mightier than I: His sandals I am not worthy to carry for a moment; He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit and in fire. |
