| 2nd-Peter 3:1 | This, a second letter, beloved, I already write to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pure mind, | This, now, beloved, a second letter to you I write, in both which I stir up your pure mind in reminding [you], | This is now, beloved, the second letter that I have written to you; and in both of them I stir up your sincere mind by reminding you; |
| 2nd-Peter 3:2 | to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles; | to be mindful of the sayings said before by the holy prophets, and of the command of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour, | that you should remember the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and the commandments of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior: |
| 2nd-Peter 3:3 | knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts, | this first knowing, that there shall come in the latter end of the days scoffers, according to their own desires going on, | knowing this first, that in the last days mockers will come, walking after their own lusts, |
| 2nd-Peter 3:4 | and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for from the time the fathers fell asleep all things remain thus from [the] beginning of [the] creation. | and saying, `Where is the promise of his presence? for since the fathers did fall asleep, all things so remain from the beginning of the creation;` | and saying, "Where is the promise of his coming?" For, from the day that the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:5 | For this is hidden from them through their own wilfulness, that heavens were of old, and an earth, having its subsistence out of water and in water, by the word of God, | for this is unobserved by them willingly, that the heavens were of old, and the earth out of water and through water standing together by the word of God, | For this they willfully forget, that there were heavens from of old, and an earth formed out of water and amid water, by the word of God; |
| 2nd-Peter 3:6 | through which [waters] the then world, deluged with water, perished. | through which the then world, by water having been deluged, was destroyed; | by which means the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:7 | But the present heavens and the earth by his word are laid up in store, kept for fire unto a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. | and the present heavens and the earth, by the same word are treasured, for fire being kept to a day of judgment and destruction of the impious men. | But the heavens that now are, and the earth, by the same word have been stored up for fire, being reserved against the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:8 | But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. | And this one thing let not be unobserved by you, beloved, that one day with the Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day; | But don't forget this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:9 | [The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. | the Lord is not slow in regard to the promise, as certain count slowness, but is long-suffering to us, not counselling any to be lost but all to pass on to reformation, | The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness; but is longsuffering towards us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:10 | But the day of [the] Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earth and the works in it shall be burnt up. | and it will come the day of the Lord as a thief in the night, in which the heavens with a rushing noise will pass away, and the elements with burning heat be dissolved, and earth and the works in it shall be burnt up. | But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:11 | All these things then being to be dissolved, what ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness, | All these, then, being dissolved, what kind of persons doth it behove you to be in holy behaviours and pious acts? | Therefore since all these things are thus to be destroyed, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy living and godliness, |
| 2nd-Peter 3:12 | waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, by reason of which [the] heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall melt? | waiting for and hasting to the presence of the day of God, by which the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the elements with burning heat shall melt; | looking for and earnestly desiring the coming of the day of God, by reason of which the heavens being on fire will be dissolved, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? |
| 2nd-Peter 3:13 | But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness. | and for new heavens and a new earth according to His promise we do wait, in which righteousness doth dwell; | But, according to his promise, we look for new heavens and a new earth, in which dwells righteousness. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:14 | Wherefore, beloved, as ye wait for these things, be diligent to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless; | wherefore, beloved, these things waiting for, be diligent, spotless and unblameable, by Him to be found in peace, | Therefore, beloved, seeing that you look for these things, be diligent to be found in peace, without blemish and blameless in his sight. |
| 2nd-Peter 3:15 | and account the longsuffering of our Lord [to be] salvation; according as our beloved brother Paul also has written to you according to the wisdom given to him, | and the long-suffering of our Lord count ye salvation, according as also our beloved brother Paul according to the wisdom given to him did write to you, | Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you; |
| 2nd-Peter 3:16 | as also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; among which some things are hard to be understood, which the untaught and ill-established wrest, as also the other scriptures, to their own destruction. | as also in all the epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, among which things are certain hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable do wrest, as also the other Writings, unto their own destruction. | as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they do also to the other scriptures, to their own destruction. |
