Exodus 36:1 | Beseleel, therefore, and Ooliab, and every wise man, to whom the Lord gave wisdom and understanding, to know how to work artificially, made the things that are necessary for the uses of the sanctuary, and which the Lord commanded. | And Bezalel and Oholiab shall work, and every wise-hearted man, in whom Jehovah hath put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all the work for the service of the sanctuary, according to all that Jehovah hath commanded. | So let Bezalel and Oholiab get to work, with every wise-hearted man to whom the Lord has given wisdom and knowledge, to do whatever is necessary for the ordering of the holy place, as the Lord has given orders. |
Exodus 36:2 | And when Moses had called them, and every skilful man, to whom the Lord had given wisdom, and such as of their own accord had offered themselves to the making of the work, | And Moses called Bezalel and Oholiab, and every wise-hearted man, in whose heart Jehovah had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it: | Then Moses sent for Bezalel and Oholiab, and for all the wise-hearted men to whom the Lord had given wisdom, even everyone who was moved by the impulse of his heart to come and take part in the work: |
Exodus 36:3 | He delivered all the offerings of the children of Israel unto them. And while they were earnest about the work, the people daily in the morning offered their vows. | and they received of Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, wherewith to make it. And they brought yet unto him freewill-offerings every morning. | And they took from Moses all the offerings which the children of Israel had given for the building of the holy place. And still they went on giving him more free offerings every morning. |
Exodus 36:4 | Whereupon the workmen being constrained to come, | And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they wrought. | Then the wise men, who were doing all the work of the holy place, came from their work; |
Exodus 36:5 | Said to Moses: The people offereth more than is necessary. | And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work which Jehovah commanded to make. | And said to Moses, The people are giving much more than is needed for the work which the Lord has given us orders to do. |
Exodus 36:6 | Moses therefore commanded proclamation to be made by the crier's voice: Let neither man nor woman offer any more for the work of the sanctuary. And so they ceased from offering gifts, | And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing. | So Moses made an order and had it given out through all the tents, saying, Let no man or woman make any more offerings for the holy place. So the people were kept from giving more. |
Exodus 36:7 | Because the things that were offered did suffice, and were too much. | For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much. | For the material they had was enough and more than enough for all the work which had to be done. |
Exodus 36:8 | And all the men that were wise of heart, to accomplish the work of the tabernacle, made ten curtains of twisted fine linen, and violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, with varied work, and the art of embroidering: | And all the wise-hearted men among them that wrought the work made the tabernacle with ten curtains; of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, with cherubim, the work of the skilful workman, [Bezalel] made them. | Then all the expert workmen among them made the House with its ten curtains; of the best linen, blue and purple and red, they made them, with winged ones worked by expert designers. |
Exodus 36:9 | The length of one curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth four: all the curtains were of the same size. | The length of each curtain was eight and twenty cubits, and the breadth of each curtain four cubits: all the curtains had one measure. | Every curtain was twenty-eight cubits long and four cubits wide, all of the same measure. |
Exodus 36:10 | And he joined five curtains, one to another, and the other five he coupled one to another. | And he coupled five curtains one to another: and [the other] five curtains he coupled one to another. | And five curtains were joined together, and the other five curtains were joined together. |
Exodus 36:11 | He made also loops of violet in the edge of the curtain on both sides, and in the edge of the other curtain in like manner, | And he made loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling: likewise he made in the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the second coupling. | And they put twists of blue cord on the edge of the outside curtain of the first group, and in the same way on the outside curtain of the second group. |
Exodus 36:12 | That the loops might meet on against another, and might be joined each with the other. | Fifty loops made he in the one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain that was in the second coupling: the loops were opposite one to another. | Fifty twists on the one curtain and fifty on the edge of the curtain of the other group; the twists being opposite to one another. |
Exodus 36:13 | Whereupon also he cast fifty rings of gold, that might catch the loops of the curtains, and they might be made one tabernacle. | And he made fifty clasps of gold, and coupled the curtains one to another with the clasps: so the tabernacle was one. | And they made fifty hooks of gold, joining the curtains one to another with the hooks; and so the House was made. |
Exodus 36:14 | He made also eleven curtains of goats' hair, to cover the roof of the tabernacle: | And he made curtains of goats' [hair] for a tent over the tabernacle: eleven curtains he made them. | And they made curtains of goats' hair for the tent; eleven curtains were made. |
Exodus 36:15 | One curtain was thirty cubits long and four cubits broad: all the curtains were of one measure. | The length of each curtain was thirty cubits, and four cubits the breadth of each curtain: the eleven curtains had one measure. | Every curtain was thirty cubits long and four cubits wide, all of the same measure. |
Exodus 36:16 | Five of which he joined apart, and the other six apart. | And he coupled five curtains by themselves, and six curtains by themselves. | Five curtains were joined together to make one group, and six curtains were joined together to make the other group. |
Exodus 36:17 | And he made fifty loops in the edge of one curtain, and fifty in the edge of another curtain, that they might be joined one to another. | And he made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that was outmost in the coupling, and fifty loops made he upon the edge of the curtain which was [outmost in] the second coupling. | And they put fifty twists of cord on the edge of the outside curtain of the first group, and fifty twists on the edge of the outside curtain of the second group, |
Exodus 36:18 | And fifty buckles of brass wherewith the roof might be knit together, that of all the curtains there might be made one covering. | And he made fifty clasps of brass to couple the tent together, that it might be one. | And fifty hooks of brass for joining them together to make the tent. |
Exodus 36:19 | He made also a cover for the tabernacle of rams' skins dyed red: and another cover over that of violet skins. | And he made a covering for the tent of rams' skins dyed red, and a covering of sealskins above. | And they made a cover of sheepskins coloured red, to go over the tent, and a cover of leather over that. |
Exodus 36:20 | He made also the boards of the tabernacle of setim wood standing. | And he made the boards for the tabernacle, of acacia wood, standing up. | And for the uprights of the House they made boards of hard wood. |
Exodus 36:21 | The length of one board was ten cubits: and the breadth was one cubit and a half. | Ten cubits was the length of a board, and a cubit and a half the breadth of each board. | The boards were ten cubits long and one cubit and a half wide. |
Exodus 36:22 | There were two mortises throughout every board, that one might be joined to the other. And in this manner he made for all the boards of the tabernacle. | Each board had two tenons, joined one to another: thus did he make for all the boards of the tabernacle. | Every board had two tongues fixed into it; all the boards were made in this way. |
Exodus 36:23 | Of which twenty were at the south side southward, | And he made the boards for the tabernacle: twenty boards for the south side southward. | They made twenty boards for the south side of the House: |
Exodus 36:24 | With forty sockets of silver, two sockets were put under one board on the two sides of the corners, where the mortises of the sides end in the corners. | And he made forty sockets of silver under the twenty boards; two sockets under one board for its two tenons, and two sockets under another board for its two tenons. | And for these twenty boards, forty silver bases, two bases under every board, to take its tongues. |
Exodus 36:25 | At that side also of the tabernacle, that looketh toward the north, he made twenty boards. | And for the second side of the tabernacle, on the north side, he made twenty boards, | And for the second side of the House, on the north, they made twenty boards, |
Exodus 36:26 | With forty sockets of silver, two sockets for every board. | and their forty sockets of silver; two sockets under one board, and two sockets under another board. | With their forty silver bases, two bases for every board. |
Exodus 36:27 | But against the west, to wit, at that side of the tabernacle, which looketh to the sea, he made six boards, | And for the hinder part of the tabernacle westward he made six boards. | And for the west side of the House, at the back, they made six boards, |
Exodus 36:28 | And two others at each corner of the tabernacle behind: | And two boards made he for the corners of the tabernacle in the hinder part. | And two boards for the angles at the back. |
Exodus 36:29 | Which were also joined from beneath unto the top, and went together into one joint. Thus he did on both sides at the corners: | And they were double beneath; and in like manner they were entire unto the top thereof unto one ring: thus he did to both of them in the two corners. | These were joined together at the base and at the top to one ring, so forming the two angles. |
Exodus 36:30 | So there were in all eight boards and they had sixteen sockets of silver, to wit, two sockets under every board. | And there were eight boards, and their sockets of silver, sixteen sockets; under every board two sockets. | So there were eight boards with sixteen bases of silver, two bases under every board. |
Exodus 36:31 | He made also bars of setim wood, five to hold together the boards of one side of the tabernacle, | And he made bars of acacia wood; five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle, | And they made rods of hard wood; five for the boards on one side of the House, |
Exodus 36:32 | And five others to join together the boards of the other side: and besides these, five other bars at the west side of the tabernacle towards the sea. | and five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five bars for the boards of the tabernacle for the hinder part westward. | And five for the boards on the other side of the House, and five for the boards at the back, on the west. |
Exodus 36:33 | He made also another bar, that might come by the midst of the boards from corner to corner. | And he made the middle bar to pass through in the midst of the boards from the one end to the other. | The middle rod was made to go right through the rings of all the boards from one end to the other. |
Exodus 36:34 | And the board works themselves he overlaid with gold, casting for them sockets of silver. And their rings he made of gold, through which the bars might be drawn: and he covered the bars themselves with plates of gold. | And he overlaid the boards with gold, and made their rings of gold for places for the bars, and overlaid the bars with gold. | All the boards were plated with gold, and the rings through which the rods went were of gold, and the rods were plated with gold. |
Exodus 36:35 | He made also a veil of violet, and purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen, varied and distinguished with embroidery: | And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen: with cherubim, the work of the skilful workman, made he it. | And he made the veil of the best linen, blue and purple and red, worked with winged ones designed by expert workmen. |
Exodus 36:36 | And four pillars of setim wood, which with their heads be overlaid with gold, casting for them sockets of silver. | And he made thereunto four pillars of acacia, and overlaid them with gold: their hooks were of gold; And he cast for them four sockets of silver. | And they made four pillars for it of hard wood plated with gold: they had hooks of gold and four silver bases. |
Exodus 36:37 | He made also a hanging in the entry of the tabernacle of violet, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen, with the work of an embroiderer. | And he made a screen for the door of the Tent, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, the work of the embroiderer; | And they made a curtain for the door of the tent, of the best linen with needlework of blue and purple and red; |
