John 8:1And Jesus went unto mount Olivet.but Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. But Jesus went to the mount of Olives.
John 8:2And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him, and sitting down he taught them. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.
John 8:3And the scribes and the Pharisees bring unto him a woman taken in adultery: and they set her in the midst,And the scribes and the Pharisees bring a woman taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst, And the scribes and the Pharisees bring [to him] a woman taken in adultery, and having set her in the midst,
John 8:4And said to him: Master, this woman was even now taken in adultery.they say unto him, Teacher, this woman hath been taken in adultery, in the very act. they say to him, Teacher, this woman has been taken in the very act, committing adultery.
John 8:5Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such a one. But what sayest thou? Now in the law Moses commanded us to stone such: what then sayest thou of her? Now in the law Moses has commanded us to stone such; thou therefore, what sayest thou?
John 8:6And this they said tempting him, that they might accuse him. But Jesus bowing himself down, wrote with his finger on the ground. And this they said, trying him, that they might have [whereof] to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. But this they said proving him, that they might have [something] to accuse him [of]. But Jesus, having stooped down, wrote with his finger on the ground.
John 8:7When therefore they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said to them: He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.But when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. But when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up and said to them, Let him that is without sin among you first cast the stone at her.
John 8:8And again stooping down, he wrote on the ground. And again he stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground. And again stooping down he wrote on the ground.
John 8:9But they hearing this, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest. And Jesus alone remained, and the woman standing in the midst. And they, when they heard it, went out one by one, beginning from the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman, where she was, in the midst. But they, having heard [that], went out one by one beginning from the elder ones until the last; and Jesus was left alone and the woman standing there.
John 8:10Then Jesus lifting up himself, said to her: Woman, where are they that accused thee? Hath no man condemned thee? And Jesus lifted up himself, and said unto her, Woman, where are they? did no man condemn thee? And Jesus, lifting himself up and seeing no one but the woman, said to her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Has no one condemned thee?
John 8:11Who said: No man, Lord. And Jesus said: Neither will I condemn thee. Go, and now sin no more. And she said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said, Neither do I condemn thee: go thy way; from henceforth sin no more. And she said, No one, sir. And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:12Again therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, walketh not in darkness, but shall have the light of life.Again therefore Jesus spake unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life. Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:13The Pharisees therefore said to him: Thou givest testimony of thyself: thy testimony is not true. The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest witness of thyself; thy witness is not true. The Pharisees therefore said to him, Thou bearest witness concerning thyself; thy witness is not true.
John 8:14Jesus answered, and said to them: Although I give testimony of myself, my testimony is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go: but you know not whence I come, or whither I go.Jesus answered and said unto them, Even if I bear witness of myself, my witness is true; for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye know not whence I come, or whither I go. Jesus answered and said to them, Even if I bear witness concerning myself, my witness is true, because I know whence I came and whither I go: but ye know not whence I come and whither I go.
John 8:15You judge according to the flesh: I judge not any man.Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. Ye judge according to the flesh, I judge no one.
John 8:16And if I do judge, my judgment is true: because I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.Yea and if I judge, my judgment is true; for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me. And if also I judge, my judgment is true, because I am not alone, but I and the Father who has sent me.
John 8:17And in your law it is written, that the testimony of two men is true.Yea and in your law it is written, that the witness of two men is true. And in your law too it is written that the testimony of two men is true:
John 8:18I am one that give testimony of myself: and the Father that sent me giveth testimony of me.I am he that beareth witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. I am [one] who bear witness concerning myself, and the Father who has sent me bears witness concerning me.
John 8:19They said therefore to him: Where is thy Father? Jesus answered: Neither me do you know, nor my Father: if you did know me, perhaps you would know my Father also. They said therefore unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me, nor my Father: if ye knew me, ye would know my Father also. They said to him therefore, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye know neither me nor my Father. If ye had known me, ye would have known also my Father.
John 8:20These words Jesus spoke in the treasury, teaching in the temple: and no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. These words spake he in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man took him; because his hour was not yet come. These words spoke he in the treasury, teaching in the temple; and no one took him, for his hour was not yet come.
John 8:21Again therefore Jesus said to them: I go, and you shall seek me, and you shall die in your sin. Whither I go, you cannot come.He said therefore again unto them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: whither I go, ye cannot come. He said therefore again to them, I go away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin; where I go ye cannot come.
John 8:22The Jews therefore said: Will he kill himself, because he said: Whither I go, you cannot come? The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, that he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come? The Jews therefore said, Will he kill himself, that he says, Where I go ye cannot come?
John 8:23And he said to them: You are from beneath, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. And he said to them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above. Ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
John 8:24Therefore I said to you, that you shall die in your sins. For if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sin.I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except ye believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins. I said therefore to you, that ye shall die in your sins; for unless ye shall believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins.
John 8:25They said therefore to him: Who art thou? Jesus said to them: The beginning, who also speak unto you. They said therefore unto him, Who art thou? Jesus said unto them, Even that which I have also spoken unto you from the beginning. They said therefore to him, Who art thou? [And] Jesus said to them, Altogether that which I also say to you.
John 8:26Many things I have to speak and to judge of you. But he that sent me, is true: and the things I have heard of him, these same I speak in the world.I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you: howbeit he that sent me is true; and the things which I heard from him, these speak I unto the world. I have many things to say and to judge concerning you, but he that has sent me is true, and I, what I have heard from him, these things I say to the world.
John 8:27And they understood not, that he called God his Father. They perceived not that he spake to them of the Father. They knew not that he spoke to them of the Father.
John 8:28Jesus therefore said to them: When you shall have lifted up the Son of man, then shall you know, that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself, but as the Father hath taught me, these things I speak:Jesus therefore said, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself, but as the Father taught me, I speak these things. Jesus therefore said to them, When ye shall have lifted up the Son of man, then ye shall know that I am [he], and [that] I do nothing of myself, but as the Father has taught me I speak these things.
John 8:29And he that sent me, is with me, and he hath not left me alone: for I do always the things that please him.And he that sent me is with me; he hath not left me alone; for I do always the things that are pleasing to him. And he that has sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, because I do always the things that are pleasing to him.
John 8:30When he spoke these things, many believed in him.As he spake these things, many believed on him. As he spoke these things many believed on him.
John 8:31Then Jesus said to those Jews, who believed him: If you continue in my word, you shall be my disciples indeed.Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, [then] are ye truly my disciples; Jesus therefore said to the Jews who believed him, If ye abide in my word, ye are truly my disciples;
John 8:32And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.
John 8:33They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how sayest thou: you shall be free? They answered unto him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never yet been in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? They answered him, We are Abraham's seed, and have never been under bondage to any one; how sayest thou, Ye shall become free?
John 8:34Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever committeth sin, is the servant of sin.Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Every one that committeth sin is the bondservant of sin. Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Every one that practises sin is the bondman of sin.
John 8:35Now the servant abideth not in the house for ever; but the son abideth for ever. And the bondservant abideth not in the house for ever: the son abideth for ever. Now the bondman abides not in the house for ever: the son abides for ever.
John 8:36If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed. If therefore the Son shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. If therefore the Son shall set you free, ye shall be really free.
John 8:37I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.I know that ye are Abraham's seed: yet ye seek to kill me, because my word hath not free course in you. I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word has no entrance in you.
John 8:38I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and you do the things that you have seen with your father.I speak the things which I have seen with [my] Father: and ye also do the things which ye heard from [your] father. I speak what I have seen with my Father, and ye then do what ye have seen with your father.
John 8:39They answered, and said to him: Abraham is our father. Jesus saith to them: If you be the children of Abraham, do the works of Abraham.They answered and said unto him, Our father is Abraham. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. They answered and said to him, Abraham is our father. Jesus says to them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham;
John 8:40But now you seek to kill me, a man who have spoken the truth to you, which I have heard of God. This Abraham did not.But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I heard from God: this did not Abraham. but now ye seek to kill me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I have heard from God: this did not Abraham.
John 8:41You do the works of your father. They said therefore to him: We are not born of fornication: we have one Father, even God.Ye do the works of your father. They said unto him, We were not born of fornication; we have one Father, [even] God. Ye do the works of your father. They said [therefore] to him, We are not born of fornication; we have one father, God.
John 8:42Jesus therefore said to them: If God were your Father, you would indeed love me. For from God I proceeded, and came; for I came not of myself, but he sent me:Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me. Jesus said to them, If God were your father ye would have loved me, for I came forth from God and am come [from him]; for neither am I come of myself, but *he* has sent me.
John 8:43Why do you not know my speech? Because you cannot hear my word. Why do ye not understand my speech? [Even] because ye cannot hear my word. Why do ye not know my speech? Because ye cannot hear my word.
John 8:44You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and he stood not in the truth; because truth is not in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof. Ye are of the devil, as [your] father, and ye desire to do the lusts of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks falsehood, he speaks of what is his own; for he is a liar and its father:
John 8:45But if I say the truth, you believe me not.But because I say the truth, ye believe me not. and because I speak the truth, ye do not believe me.
John 8:46Which of you shall convince me of sin? If I say the truth to you, why do you not believe me?Which of you convicteth me of sin? If I say truth, why do ye not believe me? Which of you convinces me of sin? If I speak truth, why do ye not believe me?
John 8:47He that is of God, heareth the words of God. Therefore you hear them not, because you are not of God.He that is of God heareth the words of God: for this cause ye hear [them] not, because ye are not of God. He that is of God hears the words of God: therefore ye hear [them] not, because ye are not of God.
John 8:48The Jews therefore answered, and said to him: Do not we say well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil? The Jews answered and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a demon? The Jews answered and said to him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan and hast a demon?
John 8:49Jesus answered: I have not a devil: but I honour my Father, and you have dishonoured me.Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honor my Father, and ye dishonor me. Jesus answered, I have not a demon; but I honour my Father, and ye dishonour me.
John 8:50But I seek not my own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. But I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. But I do not seek my own glory: there is he that seeks and judges.
John 8:51Amen, amen I say to you: If any man keep my word, he shall not see death for ever.Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my word, he shall never see death. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If any one shall keep my word, he shall never see death.
John 8:52The Jews therefore said: Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest: If any man keep my word, he shall not taste death for ever. The Jews said unto him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham died, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my word, he shall never taste of death. The Jews therefore said to him, Now we know that thou hast a demon. Abraham has died, and the prophets, and thou sayest, If any one keep my word, he shall never taste death.
John 8:53Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead. Whom dost thou make thyself?Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who died? and the prophets died: whom makest thou thyself? Art thou greater than our father Abraham, who has died? and the prophets have died: whom makest thou thyself?
John 8:54Jesus answered: If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father that glorifieth me, of whom you say that he is your God.Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father that glorifieth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God; Jesus answered, If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing: it is my Father who glorifies me, [of] whom ye say, He is our God.
John 8:55And you have not known him, but I know him. And if I shall say that I know him not, I shall be like to you, a liar. But I do know him, and do keep his word.and ye have not known him: but I know him; and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be like unto you, a liar: but I know him, and keep his word. And ye know him not; but I know him; and if I said, I know him not, I should be like you, a liar. But I know him, and I keep his word.
John 8:56Abraham your father rejoiced that he might see my day: he saw it, and was glad.Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day; and he saw it, and was glad. Your father Abraham exulted in that he should see my day, and he saw and rejoiced.
John 8:57The Jews therefore said to him: Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? The Jews therefore said unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? The Jews therefore said to him, Thou hast not yet fifty years, and hast thou seen Abraham?
John 8:58Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say to you, before Abraham was made, I am.Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was born, I am. Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59They took up stones therefore to cast at him. But Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple. They took up stones therefore to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple. They took up therefore stones that they might cast [them] at him; but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, [going through the midst of them, and thus passed on.]
