And Abram hearkened to the voice of Sarai.
Genesis 16:3She took Agar the Egyptian her handmaid, ten years after they first dwelt in the land of Chanaan, and gave her to her husband to wife. And Sarai, Abram's wife, took Hagar the Egyptian, her handmaid, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to Abram her husband to be his wife.

Genesis 16:5And Sarai said to Abram: Thou dost unjustly with me: I gave my handmaid into thy bosom, and she perceiving herself to be with child, despiseth me. The Lord judge between me and thee. And Sarai said unto Abram, My wrong be upon thee: I gave my handmaid into they bosom; and when she saw that she had conceived, I was despised in her eyes: Jehovah judge between me and thee.
Genesis 16:6And Abram made answer, and said to her: Behold thy handmaid is in thy own hand, use her its it pleaseth thee. And when Sarai afflicted her, she ran away. But Abram said unto Sarai, Behold, thy maid is in thy hand; do to her that which is good in thine eyes. And Sarai dealt hardly with her, and she fled from her face.
Genesis 16:7And the angel of the Lord having found her, by a fountain of water in the wilderness, which is in the way to Sur in the desert,And the angel of Jehovah found her by a fountain of water in the wilderness, by the fountain in the way to Shur.
Genesis 16:8He said to her: Agar, handmaid of Sarai, whence comest thou? and whither goest thou? And she answered: I flee from the face of Sarai, my mistress. And he said, Hagar, Sarai's handmaid, whence camest thou? and whither goest thou? And she said, I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.
Genesis 16:9And the angel of the Lord said to her: Return to thy mistress, and humble thyself under her hand. And the angel of Jehovah said unto her, Return to thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.
Genesis 16:10And again he said: I will multiply thy seed exceedingly, and it shall not be numbered for multitude. And the angel of Jehovah said unto her, I will greatly multiply thy seed, that it shall not be numbered for multitude.
Genesis 16:11And again: Behold, said he, thou art with child, and thou shalt bring forth a son: and thou shalt call his name Ismael, because the Lord hath heard thy affliction. And the angel of Jehovah said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Ishmael, because Jehovah hath heard thy affliction.
Genesis 16:12He shall be a wild man: his hand will be against all men, and all men's hands against him: and he shall pitch his tents over against all his brethren. And he shall be [as] a wild ass among men; his hand [shall be] against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell over against all his brethren.
Genesis 16:13And she called the name of the Lord that spoke unto her: Thou the God who hast seen me. For she said: Verily here have I seen the hinder parts of him that seeth me.And she called the name of Jehovah that spake unto her, Thou art a God that seeth: for she said, Have I even here looked after him that seeth me?
Genesis 16:14Therefore she called that well, The well of him that liveth and seeth me. The same is between Cades and Bared.Wherefore the well was called Beer-lahai-roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and Bered.
Genesis 16:15And Agar brought forth a son to Abram: who called his name Ismael. And Hagar bare Abram a son: and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bare, Ishmael.
