Mark 2:1And again he entered into Capharnaum after some days.And when he entered again into Capernaum after some days, it was noised that he was in the house. After some days He entered Capernaum again, and it soon became known that He was at home;
Mark 2:2And it was heard that he was in the house, and many came together, so that there was no room; no, not even at the door; and he spoke to them the word.And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room [for them], no, not even about the door: and he spake the word unto them. and such numbers of people came together that there was no longer room for them even round the door. He was speaking His Message to them,
Mark 2:3And they came to him, bringing one sick of the palsy, who was carried by four.And they come, bringing unto him a man sick of the palsy, borne of four. when there came a party of people bringing a paralytic four men carrying him.
Mark 2:4And when they could not offer him unto him for the multitude, they uncovered the roof where he was; and opening it, they let down the bed wherein the man sick of the palsy lay.And when they could not come nigh unto him for the crowd, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed whereon the sick of the palsy lay. Finding themselves unable, however, to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they untiled the roof just over His head, and after clearing an opening they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.
Mark 2:5And when Jesus had seen their faith, he saith to the sick of the palsy: Son, thy sins are forgiven thee.And Jesus seeing their faith saith unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins are forgiven. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are pardoned."
Mark 2:6And there were some of the scribes sitting there, and thinking in their hearts:But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Now there were some of the Scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts.
Mark 2:7Why doth this man speak thus? he blasphemeth. Who can forgive sins, but God only?Why doth this man thus speak? he blasphemeth: who can forgive sins but one, [even] God? "Why does this man use such words?" they said; "he is blaspheming. Who can pardon sins but One that is, God?"
Mark 2:8Which Jesus presently knowing in his spirit, that they so thought within themselves, saith to them: Why think you these things in your hearts?And straightway Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, saith unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts? At once perceiving by His spirit that they were reasoning within themselves, Jesus asked them, "Why do you thus argue in your minds?
Mark 2:9Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy: Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say: Arise, take up thy bed, and walk?Which is easier, to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins are forgiven; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk? Which is easier? to say to this paralytic, `Your sins are pardoned,' or to say, `Rise, take up your mat, and walk?'
Mark 2:10But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)But that ye may know that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins (he saith to the sick of the palsy), But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to pardon sins" He turned to the paralytic, and said,
Mark 2:11I say to thee: Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.I say unto thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thy house. "To you I say, `Rise, take up your mat and go home.'"
Mark 2:12And immediately he arose; and taking up his bed, went his way in the sight of all; so that all wondered and glorified God, saying: We never saw the like.And he arose, and straightway took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion. The man rose, and immediately under the eyes of all took up his mat and went out, so that they were all filled with astonishment, gave the glory to God, and said, "We never saw anything like this."
Mark 2:13And he went forth again to the sea side; and all the multitude came to him, and he taught them.And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. Again He went out to the shore of the Lake, and the whole multitude kept coming to Him, and He taught them.
Mark 2:14And when he was passing by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the receipt of custom; and he saith to him: Follow me. And rising up, he followed him.And as he passed by, he saw Levi the [son] of Alphaeus sitting at the place of toll, and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him. And as He passed by, He saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the Toll Office, and said to him, "Follow me." So he rose and followed Him.
Mark 2:15And it came to pass, that as he sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat down together with Jesus and his disciples. For they were many, who also followed him.And it came to pass, that he was sitting at meat in his house, and many publicans and sinners sat down with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him. When He was sitting at table in Levi's house, a large number of tax-gatherers and notorious sinners were at table with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many such who habitually followed Him.
Mark 2:16And the scribes and the Pharisees, seeing that he ate with publicans and sinners, said to his disiples: Why doth your master eat and drink with publicans and sinners?And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with the sinners and publicans, said unto his disciples, [How is it] that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners? But when the Scribes of the Pharisee sect saw Him eating with the sinners and the tax-gatherers, they said to His disciples, "He is eating and drinking with the tax-gatherers and sinners!"
Mark 2:17Jesus hearing this, saith to them: They that are well have no need of a physician, but they that are sick. For I came not to call the just, but sinners.And when Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of a physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. Jesus heard the words, and He said, "It is not the healthy who require a doctor, but the sick: I did not come to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners."
Mark 2:18And the disiples of John and the Pharisees used to fast; and they come and say to him: Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast; but thy disciples do not fast?And John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting: and they come and say unto him, Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not? (Now John's disciples and those of the Pharisees were keeping a fast.) And they came and asked Him, "How is it that John's disciples and those of the Pharisees are fasting, and yours are not?"
Mark 2:19And Jesus saith to them: Can the children of the marriage fast, as long as the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.And Jesus said unto them, Can the sons of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. "Can a wedding party fast while the bridegroom is among them?" replied Jesus. "So long as they have the bridegroom with them, fasting is impossible.
Mark 2:20But the days will come when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them; and then they shall fast in those days.But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then will they fast in that day. But a time will come when the Bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast.
Mark 2:21No man seweth a piece of raw cloth to an old garment: otherwise the new piecing taketh away from the old, and there is made a greater rent.No man seweth a piece of undressed cloth on an old garment: else that which should fill it up taketh from it, the new from the old, and a worse rent is made. No one mends an old garment with a piece of unshrunk cloth. Otherwise, the patch put on would tear away from it the new from the old and a worse hole would be made.
Mark 2:22And no man putteth new wine into old bottles: otherwise the wine will burst the bottles, and both the wine will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost. But new wine must be put into new bottles.And no man putteth new wine into old wineskins; else the wine will burst the skins, and the wine perisheth, and the skins: but [they put] new wine into fresh wine-skins. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise the wine would burst the skins, and both wine and skins would be lost. New wine needs fresh skins!"
Mark 2:23And it came to pass again, as the Lord walked through the corn fields on the sabbath, that his disciples began to go forward, and to pluck the ears of corn.And it came to pass, that he was going on the sabbath day through the grainfields; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears. One Sabbath He was walking through the wheatfields when His disciples began to pluck the ears of wheat as they went.
Mark 2:24And the Pharisees said to him: Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? So the Pharisees said to Him, "Look! why are they doing what on the Sabbath is unlawful?"
Mark 2:25And he said to them: Have you never read what David did when he had need, and was hungry himself, and they that were with him?And he said unto them, Did ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was hungry, he, and they that were with him? "Have you never read," Jesus replied, "what David did when the necessity arose and he and his men were hungry:
Mark 2:26How he went into the house of God, under Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the loaves of proposition, which was not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave to them who were with him?How he entered into the house of God when Abiathar was high priest, and ate the showbread, which it is not lawful to eat save for the priests, and gave also to them that were with him? how he entered the house of God in the High-priesthood of Abiathar, and ate the Presented Loaves which none but the priests are allowed to eat and gave some to his men also?"
Mark 2:27And he said to them: The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath.And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: And Jesus said to them: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath;
Mark 2:28Therefore the Son of man is Lord of the sabbath also.so that the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath. so that the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
