Deuteronomy 8:1 | All the commandments, that I command thee this day, take great care to observe: that you may live, and be multiplied, and going in may possess the land, for which the Lord swore to your fathers. | All the commandment which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Jehovah sware unto your fathers. | All the commandment which I command you this day shall you observe to do, that you may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers. |
Deuteronomy 8:2 | And thou shalt remember all the way through which the Lord thy God hath brought thee for forty years through the desert, to afflict thee and to prove thee, and that the things that were in thy heart might be made known, whether thou wouldst keep his commandments or no. | And thou shalt remember all the way which Jehovah thy God hath led thee these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble thee, to prove thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or not. | You shall remember all the way which Yahweh your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, to prove you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. |
Deuteronomy 8:3 | He afflicted thee with want, and gave thee manna for thy food, which neither thou nor thy fathers knew: to shew that m not in bread alone doth man live, but in every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God. | And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by everything that proceedeth out of the mouth of Jehovah doth man live. | He humbled you, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you didn't know, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of Yahweh does man live. |
Deuteronomy 8:4 | Thy raiment, with which thou wast covered, hath not decayed for age, and thy foot is not worn, lo this is the fortieth year, | Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years. | Your clothing didn't grow old on you, neither did your foot swell, these forty years. |
Deuteronomy 8:5 | That thou mayst consider in thy heart, that as a man traineth up his son, so the Lord thy God hath trained thee up. | And thou shalt consider in thy heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so Jehovah thy God chasteneth thee. | You shall consider in your heart that as a man chastens his son, so Yahweh your God chastens you. |
Deuteronomy 8:6 | That thou shouldst keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways, and fear him. | And thou shalt keep the commandments of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. | You shall keep the commandments of Yahweh your God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him. |
Deuteronomy 8:7 | For the Lord thy God will bring thee into a good land, of brooks and of waters, and of fountains: in the plains of which and the hills deep rivers break out: | For Jehovah thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills; | For Yahweh your God brings you into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of springs and springs, flowing forth in valleys and hills; |
Deuteronomy 8:8 | A land of wheat, and barley, and vineyards, wherein fig trees and pomegranates, and oliveyards grow: a land of oil and honey. | a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey; | a land of wheat and barley, and vines and fig-trees and pomegranates; a land of olive-trees and honey; |
Deuteronomy 8:9 | Where without any want thou shalt eat thy bread, and enjoy abundance of all things: where the stones are iron, and out of its hills are dug mines of brass: | a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig copper. | a land in which you shall eat bread without scarceness, you shall not lack anything in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills you may dig copper. |
Deuteronomy 8:10 | That when thou hast eaten, and art full, thou mayst bless the Lord thy God for the excellent land which he hath given thee. | And thou shalt eat and be full, and thou shalt bless Jehovah thy God for the good land which he hath given thee. | You shall eat and be full, and you shall bless Yahweh your God for the good land which he has given you. |
Deuteronomy 8:11 | Take heed, and beware lest at any time thou forget the Lord thy God, and neglect his commandments and judgments and ceremonies, which I command thee this day: | Beware lest thou forget Jehovah thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command thee this day: | Beware lest you forget Yahweh your God, in not keeping his commandments, and his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you this day: |
Deuteronomy 8:12 | Lest after thou hast eaten and art filled, hast built goodly houses, and dwelt in them, | lest, when thou hast eaten and art full, and hast built goodly houses, and dwelt therein; | lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and lived therein; |
Deuteronomy 8:13 | And shalt have herds of oxen and flocks of sheep, and plenty of gold and of silver, and of all things, | and when thy herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; | and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; |
Deuteronomy 8:14 | Thy heart be lifted up, and thou remember not the Lord thy God, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage: | then thy heart be lifted up, and thou forget Jehovah thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; | then your heart be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage; |
Deuteronomy 8:15 | And was thy leader in the great and terrible wilderness, wherein there was the serpent burning with his breath, and the scorpion and the dipsas, and no waters at all: who brought forth streams out of the hardest rock, | who led thee through the great and terrible wilderness, [wherein were] fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; | who led you through the great and terrible wilderness, [in which were] fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty ground where was no water; who brought you forth water out of the rock of flint; |
Deuteronomy 8:16 | And fed thee in the wilderness with manna which thy fathers knew not. And after he had afflicted and proved thee, at the last he had mercy on thee, | who fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not; that he might humble thee, and that he might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end: | who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers didn't know; that he might humble you, and that he might prove you, to do you good at your latter end: |
Deuteronomy 8:17 | Lest thou shouldst say in thy heart: My own might, and the strength of my own hand have achieved all these things for me. | and [lest] thou say in thy heart, My power and the might of my hand hath gotten me this wealth. | and [lest] you say in your heart, My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth. |
Deuteronomy 8:18 | But remember the Lord thy God, that he hath given thee strength, that he might fulfil his covenant, concerning which he swore to thy fathers, as this present day sheweth. | But thou shalt remember Jehovah thy God, for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as at this day. | But you shall remember Yahweh your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth; that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as at this day. |
Deuteronomy 8:19 | But if thou forget the Lord thy God, and follow strange gods, and serve and adore them: behold now I foretell thee that thou shalt utterly perish. | And it shall be, if thou shalt forget Jehovah thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. | It shall be, if you shall forget Yahweh your God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish. |
Deuteronomy 8:20 | As the nations, which the Lord destroyed at thy entrance, so shall you also perish, if you be disobedient to the voice of the Lord your God. | As the nations that Jehovah maketh to perish before you, so shall ye perish; because ye would not hearken unto the voice of Jehovah your God. | As the nations that Yahweh makes to perish before you, so shall you perish; because you wouldn't listen to the voice of Yahweh your God. |
