Hosea 8:1Let there be a trumpet in thy throat like an eagle upon the house of the Lord: because they have transgressed my covenant, and have violated my law.[Set] the trumpet to thy mouth. As an eagle [he cometh] against the house of Jehovah, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law. `Unto thy mouth a trumpet, As an eagle against the house of Jehovah, Because they transgressed My covenant, And against My law they have rebelled.
Hosea 8:2They shall call upon me: O my God, we, Israel, know thee. They shall cry unto me, My God, we Israel know thee. To Me they cry, `My God, we Israel have known Thee.`
Hosea 8:3Israel hath cast off the thing that is good, the enemy shall pursue him.Israel hath cast off that which is good: the enemy shall pursue him. Cast off good hath Israel, an enemy pursueth him.
Hosea 8:4They have reigned, but not by me: they have been princes, and I knew not: of their silver, and their gold they have made idols to themselves, that they might perish. They have set up kings, but not by me; they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off. They have made kings, and not by Me, They have made princes, and I have not known, Their silver and their gold they have made to them idols, So that they are cut off.
Hosea 8:5Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off, my wrath is kindled against them. How long will they be incapable of being cleansed ?He hath cast off thy calf, O Samaria; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency? Cast off hath thy calf, O Samaria, Burned hath Mine anger against them, Till when are they not capable of purity?
Hosea 8:6For itself also is the invention of Israel: a workman made it, and it is no god: for the calf of Samaria shall be turned to spiders' webs. For from Israel is even this; the workman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces. For even it [is] of Israel; an artificer made it, And it [is] not God, For the calf of Samaria is fragments!
Hosea 8:7For they shall sow wind, and reap a whirlwind, there is no standing stalk in it, the bud shall yield no meal; end if it should yield, strangers shall eat it.For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: he hath no standing grain; the blade shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up. For wind they sow, and a hurricane they reap, Stalk it hath none a shoot not yielding grain, If so be it yield strangers do swallow it up.
Hosea 8:8Israel is swallowed up: now is he become among the nations like an unclean vessel.Israel is swallowed up: now are they among the nations as a vessel wherein none delighteth. Israel hath been swallowed up, Now they have been among nations, As a vessel in which is no delight.
Hosea 8:9For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath given gifts to his lovers. For they are gone up to Assyria, [like] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers. For they they have gone up [to] Asshur, A wild ass alone by himself [is] Ephraim, They have hired lovers!
Hosea 8:10But even though they shall have hired the nations, now will I gather them together: and they shall rest a while from the burden of the king, and the princes.Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them; and they begin to be diminished by reason of the burden of the king of princes. Also though they hire among nations, Now I gather them, and they are pained a little, From the burden of a king of princes.
Hosea 8:11Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin: altars are become to him unto sin.Because Ephraim hath multiplied altars for sinning, altars have been unto him for sinning. Because Ephraim did multiply altars to sin, They have been to him altars to sin.
Hosea 8:12I shall write to him my manifold laws, which have been accounted as foreign.I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing. I write for him numerous things of My law, As a strange thing they have been reckoned.
Hosea 8:13They shall offer victims, they shall sacrifice flesh, and shall eat it, and the Lord will not receive them: now will he remember their iniquity, and will visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt. As for the sacrifices of mine offerings, they sacrifice flesh and eat it; but Jehovah accepteth them not: now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins; they shall return to Egypt. The sacrifices of Mine offerings! They sacrifice flesh, and they eat, Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now doth He remember their iniquity, And inspect their sin, They [to] Egypt they turn back.
Hosea 8:14And Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and hath built temples: and Juda hath built many fenced cities: and I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the houses thereof. For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces; and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof. And forget doth Israel his Maker, and buildeth temples, And Judah hath multiplied cities of defence, And I have sent a fire into his cities, And it hath consumed their palaces!
