Exodus 39:1 | And he made, of violet and purple, scarlet and fine linen, the vestments for Aaron to wear when he ministered in the holy places, as the Lord commanded Moses. | And from the needlework of blue and purple and red they made the robes used for the work of the holy place, and the holy robes for Aaron, as the Lord had given orders to Moses. | And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made finely wrought garments, for ministering in the holy place, and made the holy garments for Aaron; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:2 | So he made an ephod of gold, violet, and purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen. | The ephod he made of gold and blue and purple and red and the best linen; | And he made the ephod of gold, blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. |
Exodus 39:3 | With embroidered work: and he cut thin plates of gold, and drew them small into threads, that they might be twisted with the woof of the aforesaid colours, | Hammering the gold into thin plates and cutting it into wires to be worked into the blue and the purple and the red and the linen by the designer. | And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, the work of the skilful workman. |
Exodus 39:4 | And two borders coupled one to the other in the top on either side, | And they made two bands for joining its edges together at the top of the arms. | They made shoulder-pieces for it, joined together; at the two ends was it joined together. |
Exodus 39:5 | And a girdle of the same colours, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | And the beautifully worked band which went on it was of the same design and the same material, worked in gold and blue and purple and red and twisted linen-work, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | And the skilfully woven band, that was upon it, wherewith to gird it on, was of the same piece [and] like the work thereof; of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:6 | He prepared also two onyx stones, fast set and closed in gold, and graven by the art of a lapidary, with the names of the children of Israel: | Then they made the beryl stones, fixed in twisted frames of gold and cut like the cutting of a stamp, with the names of the children of Israel. | And they wrought the onyx stones, inclosed in settings of gold, graven with the engravings of a signet, according to the names of the children of Israel. |
Exodus 39:7 | And he set them in the sides of the ephod for a memorial of the children of Israel, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | These he put on the ephod, over the arm-holes, to be stones of memory for the children of Israel, as the Lord had said to Moses. | And he put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, to be stones of memorial for the children of Israel; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:8 | He made also a rational with embroidered work, according to the work of the ephod, of gold, violet, purple, and scarlet twice dyed, and fine twisted linen, | The priest's bag was designed like the ephod, of the best linen worked with gold and blue and purple and red. | And he made the breastplate, the work of the skilful workman, like the work of the ephod; of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen. |
Exodus 39:9 | Foursquare, double, of the measure of a span. | It was square and folded in two, as long and as wide as the stretch of a man's hand; | It was foursquare; they made the breastplate double: a span was the length thereof, and a span the breadth thereof, being double. |
Exodus 39:10 | And he set four rows of precious stones in it. In the first row was a sardius, a topaz, and emerald. | And on it they put four lines of stones: in the first line was a carnelian, a chrysolite, and an emerald; | And they set in it four rows of stones. A row of sardius, topaz, and carbuncle was the first row; |
Exodus 39:11 | In the second, a carbuncle, a sapphire, and a jasper. | In the second, a ruby, a sapphire, and an onyx; | and the second row, an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond; |
Exodus 39:12 | In the third, a ligurius, an agate, and an amethyst. | In the third, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; | and the third row, a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst; |
Exodus 39:13 | In the fourth, a chrysolite, an onyx, and a beryl, set and enclosed in gold by their rows. | In the fourth, a topaz, a beryl, and a jasper; they were fixed in twisted frames of gold. | and the fourth row, a beryl, an onyx, and a jaspar: they were inclosed in inclosings of gold in their settings. |
Exodus 39:14 | And the twelve stones were engraved with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel, each one with its several name. | There were twelve stones for the twelve tribes of Israel; on every one the name of one of the tribes of Israel was cut, like the cutting of a stamp. | And the stones were according to the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names; like the engravings of a signet, every one according to his name, for the twelve tribes. |
Exodus 39:15 | They made also in the rational little chains linked one to another of the purest gold, | And on the bag they put gold chains, twisted like cords. | And they made upon the breastplate chains like cords, of wreathen work of pure gold. |
Exodus 39:16 | And two hooks, and as many rings of gold. And they set the rings on either side of the rational, | And they made two gold frames and two gold rings, the rings being fixed to the ends of the priest's bag; | And they made two settings of gold, and two gold rings, and put the two rings on the two ends of the breastplate. |
Exodus 39:17 | On which rings the two golden chains should hang, which they put into the hooks that stood out in the corners of the ephod. | And they put the two twisted chains on the two rings at the ends of the priest's bag; | And they put the two wreathen chains of gold in the two rings at the ends of the breastplate. |
Exodus 39:18 | These both before and behind so answered one another, that the ephod and the rational were bound together, | And the other two ends of the chains were joined to the two frames and fixed to the front of the ephod over the arm-holes. | And the [other] two ends of the two wreathen chains they put on the two settings, and put them on the shoulder-pieces of the ephod, in the forepart thereof. |
Exodus 39:19 | Being fastened to the girdle and strongly coupled with rings, which a violet fillet joined, lest they should flag loose, and be moved one from the other, as the Lord commanded Moses. | And they made two rings of gold and put them on the two lower ends of the bag, on the inner side nearest to the ephod. | And they made two rings of gold, and put them upon the two ends of the breastplate, upon the edge thereof, which was toward the side of the ephod inward. |
Exodus 39:20 | They made also the tunick of the ephod all of violet, | And two other gold rings were put on the front of the ephod, over the arm-holes, at the join, and over the worked band. | And they made two rings of gold, and put them on the two shoulder-pieces of the ephod underneath, in the forepart thereof, close by the coupling thereof, above the skilfully woven band of the ephod. |
Exodus 39:21 | And a hole for the head in the upper part at the middle, and a woven border round about the hole: | And the rings on the bag were fixed to the rings of the ephod by a blue cord, keeping it in place over the band, so that the bag might not get loose, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | And they did bind the breastplate by the rings thereof unto the rings of the ephod with a lace of blue, that it might be upon the skilfully woven band of the ephod, and that the breastplate might not be loosed from the ephod; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:22 | And beneath at the feet pomegranates of violet, purple, scarlet, and fine twisted linen: | The robe which went with the ephod was made all of blue; | And he made the robe of the ephod of woven work, all of blue. |
Exodus 39:23 | And little bells of the purest gold, which they put between the pomegranates at the bottom of the tunick round about: | With a hole at the top in the middle, like the hole in the coat of a fighting-man, edged with a band to make it strong. | And the hole of the robe in the midst thereof, as the hole of a coat of mail, with a binding round about the hole of it, that it should not be rent. |
Exodus 39:24 | To wit, a bell of gold, and a pomegranate, wherewith the high priest went adorned, when he discharged his ministry, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | The skirts of the robe were worked all round with fruits in blue and purple and red made of twisted linen. | And they made upon the skirts of the robe pomegranates of blue, and purple, and scarlet, [and] twined [linen]. |
Exodus 39:25 | They made also fine linen tunicks with woven work for Aaron and his sons: | And between the fruits all round the skirt they put gold bells, as the Lord gave orders to Moses. | And they made bells of pure gold, and put the bells between the pomegranates upon the skirts of the robe round about, between the pomegranates; |

Exodus 39:29 | They made also the plate of sacred veneration of the purest gold, and they wrote on it with the engraving of a lapidary, The Holy of the Lord: | And a linen band worked with a design of blue and purple and red, as the Lord had said to Moses. | and the girdle of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet, the work of the embroiderer; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:30 | And they fastened it to the mitre with a violet fillet, as the Lord had commanded Moses. | The plate for the holy crown was made of the best gold, and on it were cut these words, HOLY TO THE LORD. | And they made the plate of the holy crown of pure gold, and wrote upon it a writing, like the engravings of a signet, HOLY TO JEHOVAH. |
Exodus 39:31 | So all the work of the tabernacle and of the roof of the testimony was finished: and the children of Israel did all things which the Lord had commanded Moses. | It was fixed to the head-dress by a blue cord, as the Lord had given orders to Moses. | And they tied unto it a lace of blue, to fasten it upon the mitre above; as Jehovah commanded Moses. |
Exodus 39:32 | And they offered the tabernacle and the roof and the whole furniture, the rings, the boards, the bars, the pillars, and their sockets, | So all the work on the House of the Tent of meeting was done; as the Lord had given orders to Moses, so the children of Israel did it. | Thus was finished all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting: and the children of Israel did according to all that Jehovah commanded Moses; so did they. |
Exodus 39:33 | The cover of rams' skins dyed red, and the other cover of violet skins, | Then they took the House to Moses, the tent with all the things for it; its hooks, its boards, its rods, its pillars, and its bases; | And they brought the tabernacle unto Moses, the Tent, and all its furniture, its clasps, its boards, it bars, and its pillars, and it sockets; |
