Genesis 17:1 | And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect. | When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord came to him, and said, I am God, Ruler of all; go in my ways and be upright in all things, | And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be thou perfect. |
Genesis 17:2 | And I will make my covenant between me and thee: and I will multiply thee exceedingly. | And I will make an agreement between you and me, and your offspring will be greatly increased. | And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. |
Genesis 17:3 | Abram tell flat on his face. | And Abram went down on his face on the earth, and the Lord God went on talking with him, and said, | And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, |
Genesis 17:4 | And God said to him: I AM, and my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father. of many nations. | As for me, my agreement is made with you, and you will be the father of nations without end. | As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations. |
Genesis 17:5 | Neither shall thy name be called any more Abram: but thou shalt be called Abraham: because I have made thee a father of many nations. | No longer will your name be Abram, but Abraham, for I have made you the father of a number of nations. | Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee. |
Genesis 17:6 | And I will make thee increase, exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. | I will make you very fertile, so that nations will come from you and kings will be your offspring. | And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. |
Genesis 17:7 | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and between thy sad after thee in their generations, by a perpetual covenant: to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee. | And I will make between me and you and your seed after you through all generations, an eternal agreement to be a God to you and to your seed after you. | And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. |
Genesis 17:8 | And I will give to thee, and to thy seed, the land of thy sojournment, all the land of Chanaan for a perpetual possession, and I will be their God. | And to you and to your seed after you, I will give the land in which you are living, all the land of Canaan for an eternal heritage; and I will be their God. | And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. |
Genesis 17:9 | Again God said to Abraham: And thou therefore shalt keep my covenant, and thy seed after thee in their generations. | And God said to Abraham, On your side, you are to keep the agreement, you and your seed after you through all generations. | And God said unto Abraham, And as for thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations. |
Genesis 17:10 | This is my covenant which you shall observe, between me and you, and thy seed after thee: All the male kind of you shall be circumcised: | And this is the agreement which you are to keep with me, you and your seed after you: every male among you is to undergo circumcision. | This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised. |
Genesis 17:11 | And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, that it may be for a h sign of the covenant between me and you. | In the flesh of your private parts you are to undergo it, as a mark of the agreement between me and you. | And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you. |
Genesis 17:12 | An infant of eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations: he that is born in the house, as well as the bought servant shall be circumcised, and whosoever is not of your stock: | Every male among you, from one generation to another, is to undergo circumcision when he is eight days old, with every servant whose birth takes place in your house, or for whom you gave money to someone of another country, and not of your seed. | And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner that is not of thy seed. |
Genesis 17:13 | And my covenant shall be in your flesh for a perpetual covenant. | He who comes to birth in your house and he who is made yours for a price, all are to undergo circumcision; so that my agreement may be marked in your flesh, an agreement for all time. | He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. |
Genesis 17:14 | The male, whose dash of his foreskin shall not be circumcised, that soul shall be destroyed out of his people: because he hath broken my covenant. | And any male who does not undergo circumcision will be cut off from his people: my agreement has been broken by him. | And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant. |
Genesis 17:15 | God said also to Abraham: Sarai thy wife thou shalt not call Sarai, but Sara. | And God said, As for Sarai, your wife, from now her name will be not Sarai, but Sarah. | And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. |
Genesis 17:16 | And I will bless her, and of her I will give thee a son, whom I will bless, and he shell become nations, and kings of people shall spring from him. | And I will give her a blessing so that you will have a son by her: truly my blessing will be on her, and she will be the mother of nations: kings of peoples will be her offspring. | And I will bless her, and moreover I will give thee a son of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be [a mother of] nations; kings of peoples shall be of her. |
Genesis 17:17 | Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, saying in his heart: Shall a son, thinkest thou, be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sara that is ninety years old bring forth? | Then Abraham went down on his face, and laughing, said in his heart, May a man a hundred years old have a child? will Sarah, at ninety years old, give birth? | Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? |
Genesis 17:18 | And he said to God: O that Ismael may live before thee. | And Abraham said to God, If only Ishmael's life might be your care! | And Abraham said unto God, Oh that Ishmael might live before thee! |
Genesis 17:19 | And God said to Abraham: Sara thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for a perpetual covenant, and with his seed after him. | And God said, Not so; but Sarah, your wife, will have a son, and you will give him the name Isaac, and I will make my agreement with him for ever and with his seed after him. | And God said, Nay, but Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his seed after him. |
Genesis 17:20 | And as for Ismael I have also heard thee. Behold, I will bless him, and increase, and multiply him exceedingly: he shall beget twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation. | As for Ishmael, I have given ear to your prayer: truly I have given him my blessing and I will make him fertile and give him great increase; he will be the father of twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation. | And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. |
Genesis 17:21 | But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sara shall bring forth to thee at this time in the next year. | But my agreement will be with Isaac, to whom Sarah will give birth a year from this time. | But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. |
Genesis 17:22 | And when he had left oil speaking with him, God went up from Abraham. | And having said these words, God went up from Abraham. | And he left off talking with him, and God went up from Abraham. |
Genesis 17:23 | And Abraham took Ismael his son, and all that were born in his house: and all whom he had bought, every male among the men of his house: and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin forthwith the very same day, as God had commanded him. | And Abraham took Ishmael, his son, and all whose birth had taken place in his house, and all his servants whom he had made his for a price, every male of his house, and on that very day he gave them circumcision in the flesh of their private parts as God had said to him. | And Abraham took Ishmael his son, and all that were born in his house, and all that were bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and circumcised the flesh of their foreskin in the selfsame day, as God had said unto him. |
Genesis 17:24 | Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin. | Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he underwent circumcision. | And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
Genesis 17:25 | And Ismael his son was full thirteen years old at the time of his circumcision. | And Ishmael, his son, was thirteen years old when he underwent circumcision. | And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
Genesis 17:27 | And all the men of his house, as well they that were born in his house, as the bought servants and strangers were circumcised with him. | Abraham and Ishmael, his son, underwent circumcision on that very day. | In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son. |
Genesis 17:28 | The selfsame day was Abraham circumcised and Ismael his son. | And all the men of his house, those whose birth had taken place in the house and those whom he had got for money from men of other lands, underwent circumcision with him. | And all the men of his house, those born in the house, and those bought with money of a foreigner, were circumcised with him. |
