2nd-Peter 3:1Behold this second epistle I write to you, my dearly beloved, in which I stir up by way of admonition your sincere mind:My loved ones, this is now my second letter to you, and in this as in the first, I am attempting to keep your true minds awake;This, a second letter, beloved, I already write to you, in [both] which I stir up, in the way of putting you in remembrance, your pure mind,
2nd-Peter 3:2That you may be mindful of those words which I told you before from the holy prophets, and of your apostles, of the precepts of the Lord and Saviour.So that you may keep in mind the words of the holy prophets in the past, and the law of the Lord and Saviour which was given to you by his Apostles.to be mindful of the words spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of the Lord and Saviour by your apostles;
2nd-Peter 3:3Knowing this first, that in the last days there shall come deceitful scoffers, walking after their own lusts,Having first of all the knowledge that in the last days there will be men who, ruled by their evil desires, will make sport of holy things,knowing this first, that there shall come at [the] close of the days mockers with mocking, walking according to their own lusts,
2nd-Peter 3:4Saying: Where is his promise or his coming? for since the time that the fathers slept, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.Saying, Where is the hope of his coming? From the death of the fathers till now everything has gone on as it was from the making of the world.and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for from the time the fathers fell asleep all things remain thus from [the] beginning of [the] creation.
2nd-Peter 3:5For this they are wilfully ignorant of, that the heavens were before, and the earth out of water, and through water, consisting by the word of God.But in taking this view they put out of their minds the memory that in the old days there was a heaven, and an earth lifted out of the water and circled by water, by the word of God;For this is hidden from them through their own wilfulness, that heavens were of old, and an earth, having its subsistence out of water and in water, by the word of God,
2nd-Peter 3:6Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished.And that the world which then was came to an end through the overflowing of the waters.through which [waters] the then world, deluged with water, perished.
2nd-Peter 3:7But the heavens and the earth which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of the ungodly men.But the present heaven and the present earth have been kept for destruction by fire, which is waiting for them on the day of the judging and destruction of evil men.But the present heavens and the earth by his word are laid up in store, kept for fire unto a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
2nd-Peter 3:8But of this one thing be not ignorant, my beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.But, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day.But let not this one thing be hidden from you, beloved, that one day with [the] Lord [is] as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2nd-Peter 3:9The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance.The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways.[The] Lord does not delay his promise, as some account of delay, but is longsuffering towards you, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
2nd-Peter 3:10But the day of the Lord shall come as a thief, in which the heavens shall pass away with great violence, and the elements shall be melted with heat, and the earth and the works which are in it, shall be burnt up.But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; and in that day the heavens will be rolled up with a great noise, and the substance of the earth will be changed by violent heat, and the world and everything in it will be burned up.But the day of [the] Lord will come as a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a rushing noise, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall be dissolved, and [the] earth and the works in it shall be burnt up.
2nd-Peter 3:11Seeing then that all these things are to be dissolved, what manner of people ought you to be in holy conversation and godliness?Seeing then that all these things are coming to such an end, what sort of persons is it right for you to be, in all holy behaviour and righteousness,All these things then being to be dissolved, what ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,
2nd-Peter 3:12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of the Lord, by which the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with the burning heat?Looking for and truly desiring the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will come to an end through fire, and the substance of the earth will be changed by the great heat?waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, by reason of which [the] heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and [the] elements, burning with heat, shall melt?
2nd-Peter 3:13But we look for new heavens and a new earth according to his promises, in which justice dwelleth.But having faith in his word, we are looking for a new heaven and a new earth, which will be the resting-place of righteousness.But, according to his promise, we wait for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwells righteousness.
2nd-Peter 3:14Wherefore, dearly beloved, waiting for these things, be diligent that you may be found before him unspotted and blameless in peace.For this reason, my loved ones, as you are looking for these things, take great care that when he comes you may be in peace before him, free from sin and every evil thing.Wherefore, beloved, as ye wait for these things, be diligent to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless;
2nd-Peter 3:15And account the longsuffering of our Lord, salvation; as also our most dear brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, hath written to you:And be certain that the long waiting of the Lord is for salvation; even as our brother Paul has said in his letters to you, from the wisdom which was given to him;and account the longsuffering of our Lord [to be] salvation; according as our beloved brother Paul also has written to you according to the wisdom given to him,
2nd-Peter 3:16As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are certain things hard to be understood, which the unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.And as he said in all his letters, which had to do with these things; in which are some hard sayings, so that, like the rest of the holy Writings, they are twisted by those who are uncertain and without knowledge, to the destruction of their souls.as also in all [his] epistles, speaking in them of these things; among which some things are hard to be understood, which the untaught and ill-established wrest, as also the other scriptures, to their own destruction.
2nd-Peter 3:17You therefore, brethren, knowing these things before, take heed, lest being led aside by the error of the unwise, you fall from your own steadfastness.For this reason, my loved ones, having knowledge of these things before they take place, take care that you are not turned away by the error of the uncontrolled, so falling from your true faith.*Ye* therefore, beloved, knowing [these] things before, take care lest, being led away along with the error of the wicked, ye should fall from your own stedfastness:
2nd-Peter 3:18But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and unto the day of eternity. Amen.But be increased in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May he have glory now and for ever. So be it.but grow in grace, and in [the] knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him [be] glory both now and to [the] day of eternity. Amen.
