Galatians 5:1 | Stand fast, and be not held again under the yoke of bondage. | Christ has truly made us free: then keep your free condition and let no man put a yoke on you again. | Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. |
Galatians 5:2 | Behold, I Paul tell you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. | See, I Paul say to you, that if you undergo circumcision, Christ will be of no use to you. | Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. |
Galatians 5:3 | And I testify again to every man circumcising himself, that he is a debtor to the whole law. | Yes, I give witness again to every man who undergoes circumcision, that he will have to keep all the law. | For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. |
Galatians 5:4 | You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace. | You are cut off from Christ, you who would have righteousness by the law; you are turned away from grace. | Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. |
Galatians 5:5 | For we in spirit, by faith, wait for the hope of justice. | For we through the Spirit by faith are waiting for the hope of righteousness. | For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. |
Galatians 5:6 | For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by charity. | Because in Christ Jesus, having circumcision or not having circumcision are equally of no profit; but only faith working through love. | For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. |
Galatians 5:7 | You did run well, who hath hindered you, that you should not obey the truth? | You were going on well; who was the cause of your not giving ear to what is true? | Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? |
Galatians 5:8 | This persuasion is not from him that calleth you. | This ready belief did not come from him who had made you his. | This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. |
Galatians 5:9 | A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump. | A little leaven makes a change in all the mass. | A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. |
Galatians 5:10 | I have confidence in you in the Lord: that you will not be of another mind: but he that troubleth you, shall bear the judgment, whosoever he be. | I am certain about you in the Lord, that you will be of no other mind; but he who is troubling you will have his punishment, whoever he is. | I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be. |
Galatians 5:11 | And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void. | But I, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still attacked? then has the shame of the cross been taken away. | And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. |
Galatians 5:12 | I would they were even cut off, who trouble you. | My desire is that they who give you trouble might even be cut off themselves. | I would they were even cut off which trouble you. |
Galatians 5:13 | For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty: only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh, but by charity of the spirit serve one another. | Because you, brothers, were marked out to be free; only do not make use of your free condition to give the flesh its chance, but through love be servants one to another. | For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. |
Galatians 5:14 | For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. | For all the law is made complete in one word, even in this, Have love for your neighbour as for yourself. | For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. |
Galatians 5:15 | But if you bite and devour one another; take heed you be not consumed one of another. | But if you are given to fighting with one another, take care that you are not the cause of destruction one to another. | But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. |
Galatians 5:16 | I say then, walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. | But I say, Go on in the Spirit, and you will not come under the rule of the evil desires of the flesh. | This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. |
Galatians 5:17 | For the flesh lusteth against the spirit: and the spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary one to another: so that you do not the things that you would. | For the flesh has desires against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; because these are opposite the one to the other; so that you may not do the things which you have a mind to do. | For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. |
Galatians 5:18 | But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law. | But if you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. | But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. |
Galatians 5:19 | Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury, | Now the works of the flesh are clear, which are these: evil desire, unclean things, wrong use of the senses, | Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, |
Galatians 5:20 | Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects, | Worship of images, use of strange powers, hates, fighting, desire for what another has, angry feelings, attempts to get the better of others, divisions, false teachings, | Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, |
Galatians 5:21 | Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God. | Envy, uncontrolled drinking and feasting, and such things: of which I give you word clearly, even as I did in the past, that they who do such things will have no part in the kingdom of God. | Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. |
Galatians 5:22 | But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity, | But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith, | But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, |
Galatians 5:23 | Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law. | Gentle behaviour, control over desires: against such there is no law. | Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. |
Galatians 5:24 | And they that are Christ's, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences. | And those who are Christ's have put to death on the cross the flesh with its passions and its evil desires. | And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. |
Galatians 5:25 | If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. | If we are living by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us be guided. | If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. |
Galatians 5:26 | Let us not be made desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying on another. | Let us not be full of self-glory, making one another angry, having envy of one another. | Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. |
