1st-Peter 4:1Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sins:So that as Jesus was put to death in the flesh, do you yourselves be of the same mind; for the death of the flesh puts an end to sin;Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
1st-Peter 4:2That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh , not after the desires of men, but according to the will of God.So that you may give the rest of your lives in the flesh, not to the desires of men, but to the purpose of God.That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
1st-Peter 4:3For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols.Because for long enough, in times past, we have been living after the way of the Gentiles, given up to the desires of the flesh, to drinking and feasting and loose behaviour and unclean worship of images;For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
1st-Peter 4:4Wherein they think it strange, that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness, speaking evil of you.And they are wondering that you no longer go with them in this violent wasting of life, and are saying evil things of you:In which they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
1st-Peter 4:5Who shall render account to him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead.But they will have to give an account of themselves to him who is ready to be the judge of the living and the dead.Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.
1st-Peter 4:6For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead: that they might be judged indeed according to men, in the flesh; but may live according to God, in the Spirit.For this was the reason why the good news of Jesus was given even to the dead, so that they might be judged as men in the flesh, but might be living before God in the spirit.For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
1st-Peter 4:7But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers.But the end of all things is near: so be serious in your behaviour and keep on the watch with prayer;But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch to prayer.
1st-Peter 4:8But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity covereth a multitude of sins.And most of all be warm in your love for one another; because in love there is forgiveness for sins without number:And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity will cover a multitude of sins.
1st-Peter 4:9Using hospitality one towards another, without murmuring,Keep open house for all with a glad heart;Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
1st-Peter 4:10As every man hath received grace, ministering the same one to another: as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.Making distribution among one another of whatever has been given to you, like true servants of the unmeasured grace of God;As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1st-Peter 4:11If any man speak, let him speak, as the words of God. If any man minister, let him do it, as of the power, which God administereth: that in all things God may be honoured through Jesus Christ: to whom is glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.If anyone has anything to say, let it be as the words of God; if anyone has the desire to be the servant of others, let him do it in the strength which is given by God; so that in all things God may have the glory through Jesus Christ, whose are the glory and the power for ever.If any man speaketh let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man ministereth let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1st-Peter 4:12Dearly beloved, think not strange the burning heat which is to try you, as if some new thing happened to you;Dear brothers, do not be surprised, as if it was something strange, if your faith is tested as by fire:Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you:
1st-Peter 4:13But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.But be glad that you are given a part in the pains of Christ; so that at the revelation of his glory you may have great joy.But rejoice, seeing ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
1st-Peter 4:14If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory, and power of God, and that which is his Spirit, resteth upon you.If men say evil things of you because of the name of Christ, happy are you; for the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you.If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you. On their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
1st-Peter 4:15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a railer, or a coveter of other men's things.Let no one among you undergo punishment as a taker of life, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as one who is over-interested in other men's business;But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as a busy-body in other men's matters.
1st-Peter 4:16But if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.But if he undergoes punishment as a Christian, that is no shame to him; let him give glory to God in this name.Yet if any man suffereth as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
1st-Peter 4:17For the time is, that judgment should begin at the house of God. And if first at us, what shall be the end of them that believe not the gospel of God?For the time has come for the judging, starting with the church of God; but if it makes a start with us, what will be the end of those who are not under the rule of God?For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first beginneth at us, what will be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1st-Peter 4:18And if the just man shall scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?And if it is hard for even the good man to get salvation, what chance has the man without religion or the sinner?And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1st-Peter 4:19Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God, commend their souls in good deeds to the faithful Creator.For this reason let those who by the purpose of God undergo punishment, keep on in well-doing and put their souls into the safe hands of their Maker.Wherefore, let them that suffer according to the will of God, commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as to a faithful Creator.
