Mark 7:1And there assembled together unto him the Pharisees and some of the scribes, coming from Jerusalem.And there came together to him the Pharisees and certain of the scribes who had come from Jerusalem,Then came together to him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, who came from Jerusalem.
Mark 7:2And when they had seen some of his disciples eat bread with common, that is, with unwashed hands, they found fault.And had seen that some of his disciples took their bread with unclean, that is, unwashed, hands.And when they saw some of his disciples eating bread with defiled (that is to say with unwashed) hands, they found fault.
Mark 7:3For the Pharisees, and all the Jews eat not without often washing their hands, holding the tradition of the ancients:Now the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not take food without washing their hands with care, keeping the old rule which has been handed down to them:For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands often eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
Mark 7:4And when they come from the market, unless they be washed, they eat not: and many other things there are that have been delivered to them to observe, the washings of cups and of pots, and of brazen vessels, and of beds.And when they come from the market-place, they take no food till their hands are washed; and a number of other orders there are, which have been handed down to them to keep washings of cups and pots and brass vessels.And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there are, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, and of brazen vessels, and tables.
Mark 7:5And the Pharisees and scribes asked him: Why do not thy disciples walk according to the tradition of the ancients, but they eat bread with common hands?And the Pharisees and the scribes put the question to him, Why do your disciples not keep the rules of the fathers, but take their bread with unwashed hands?Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands?
Mark 7:6But he answering, said to them: Well did Isaias prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written: This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.And he said, Well did Isaiah say of you, you false ones: These people give me honour with their lips, but their heart is far from me.He answered and said to them, Well hath Isaiah prophesied concerning you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoreth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
Mark 7:7And in vain to they worship me, teaching doctrines and precepts of men.But their worship is to no purpose, while they give as their teaching the rules of men.But, in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
Mark 7:8For leaving the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, the washing of pots and of cups: and many other things you do like to these.For, turning away from the law of God, you keep the rules of men.For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Mark 7:9And he said to them: Well do you make void the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition.And he said to them, Truly you put on one side the law of God, so that you may keep the rules which have been handed down to you.And he said to them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition,
Mark 7:10For Moses said: Honor thy father and thy mother; and He that shall curse father or mother, dying let him die.For Moses said, Give honour to your father and mother, and, He who says evil of father or mother, let him have the punishment of death:For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, Whoever curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
Mark 7:11But you say: If a man shall say to his father or mother, Corban, (which is a gift,) whatsoever is from me, shall profit thee.But you say, If a man says to his father or his mother, That by which you might have had profit from me is Corban, that is to say, Given to God,But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
Mark 7:12And further you suffer him not to do any thing for his father or mother,You no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother;And ye suffer him no more to do aught for his father or his mother;
Mark 7:13Making void the word of God by your own tradition, which you have given forth. And many other such like things you do.Making the word of God of no effect by your rule, which you have given: and a number of other such things you do.Making the word of God of no effect through your traditions, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do.
Mark 7:14And calling again the multitude unto him, he said to them: Hear ye me all, and understand.And turning to the people again, he said to them, Give ear to me all of you, and let my words be clear to you:And when he had called all the people to him, he said to them, Hearken to me every one of you, and understand.
Mark 7:15There is nothing from without a man that entering into him, can defile him. But the things which come from a man, those are they that defile a man.There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him, can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
Mark 7:16If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.[]If any man hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Mark 7:17And when he was come into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked him the parable.And when he had gone into the house away from all the people, his disciples put questions to him about the saying.And when he had entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
Mark 7:18And he saith to them: So are you also without knowledge? understand you not that every thing from without, entering into a man cannot defile him:And he said to them, Have even you so little wisdom? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside is not able to make him unclean,And he saith to them, Are ye so void of understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him.
Mark 7:19Because it entereth not into his heart, but goeth into the belly, and goeth out into the privy, purging all meats?Because it goes not into the heart but into the stomach, and goes out with the waste? He said this, making all food clean.Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all kinds of food.
Mark 7:20But he said that the things which come out from a man, they defile a man.And he said, That which comes out of the man, that makes the man unclean.And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
Mark 7:21For from within out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Because from inside, from the heart of men, come evil thoughts and unclean pleasures,For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
Mark 7:22Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.The taking of goods and of life, broken faith between husband and wife, the desire of wealth, wrongdoing, deceit, sins of the flesh, an evil eye, angry words, pride, foolish acts:Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness;
Mark 7:23All these evil things come from within, and defile a man.All these evil things come from inside, and make the man unclean.All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Mark 7:24And rising from thence he went into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon: and entering into a house, he would that no man should know it, and he could not be hid.And he went away from there to the country of Tyre and Sidon. And he went into a house, desiring that no man might have knowledge of it: and he was not able to keep it secret.And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into a house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
Mark 7:25For a woman as soon as she heard of him, whose daughter had an unclean spirit, came in and fell down at his feet.But a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having had news of him, came straight away and went down at his feet.For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet:
Mark 7:26For the woman was a Gentile, a Syrophenician born. And she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter.Now the woman was a Greek, a Syro-phoenician by birth: and she made a request to him that he would send the evil spirit out of her daughter.(The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation,) and she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter.
Mark 7:27Who said to her: Suffer first the children to be filled: for it is not good to take the bread of the children, and cast it to the dogs.And he said to her, Let the children first have their food: for it is not right to take the children's bread and give it to the dogs.But Jesus said to her, Let the children first be satisfied: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to the dogs.
Mark 7:28But she answered and said to him: Yea, Lord; for the whelps also eat under the table of the crumbs of the children.But she said to him in answer, Yes, Lord: even the dogs under the table take the bits dropped by the children.And she answered and said to him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crums.
Mark 7:29And he said to her: For this saying go thy way, the devil is gone out of thy daughter.And he said to her, For this saying go your way; the evil spirit has gone out of your daughter.And he said to her, For this saying, depart; the demon is gone out of thy daughter.
Mark 7:30And when she was come into her house, she found the girl lying upon the bed, and that the devil was gone out.And she went away to her house, and saw the child on the bed, and the evil spirit gone out.And when she had come to her house, she found the demon had gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
Mark 7:31And again going out of the coasts of Tyre, he came by Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the coasts of Decapolis.And again he went out from Tyre, and came through Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the country of Decapolis.And again, departing from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, he came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.
Mark 7:32And they bring to him one deaf and dumb; and they besought him that he would lay his hand upon him.And they came to him with one who had no power of hearing and had trouble in talking; and they made a request to him to put his hands on him.And they bring to him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to put his hand upon him.
Mark 7:33And taking him from the multitude apart, he put his fingers into his ears, and spitting, he touched his tongue:And he took him on one side from the people privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he put water from his mouth on the man's tongue with his finger;And he took him aside from the multitude, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spit, and touched his tongue.
Mark 7:34And looking up to heaven, he groaned, and said to him: Ephpheta, which is, Be thou opened.And looking up to heaven, he took a deep breath, and said to him, Ephphatha, that is, Be open.And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith to him, Effatha, that is, Be opened.
Mark 7:35And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke right.And his ears became open, and the band of his tongue was made loose, and his words became clear.And immediately his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain.
Mark 7:36And he charged them that they should tell no man. But the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal did they publish it.And he gave them orders not to give news of it to anyone; but the more he made this request, so much the more they made it public.And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them; so much the more a great deal they published it;
Mark 7:37And so much the more did they wonder, saying: He hath done all things well; he hath made both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.And they were overcome with wonder, saying, He has done all things well: he even gives back the power of hearing and the power of talking to those who have been without them.And were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh both the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
