Numbers 4:1And the Lord spoke to Moses, and Aaron, saying:And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Numbers 4:2Take the sum of the sons of Caath from the midst of the Levites, by their houses and families.Let the sons of Kohath, from among the sons of Levi, be numbered by their families, in the order of their fathers' houses;Take the sum of the sons of Kohath from among the sons of Levi, after their families, by the house of their fathers;
Numbers 4:3From thirty years old and upward, to fifty years old, of all that go in to stand and to minister in the tabernacle of the covenant.All those from thirty to fifty years old who are able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.From thirty years old and upward, even until fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 4:4This is the service of the sons of Caath:And this is to be the work of the sons of Kohath in connection with the most holy things.This shall be the service of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation, about the most holy things.
Numbers 4:5When the camp is to set forward, Aaron and his sons shall go into the tabernacle of the covenant, and the holy of holies, and shall take down the veil that hangeth before the door, and shall wrap up the ark of the testimony in it,When all the people go forward, Aaron is to go in with his sons, and take down the veil of the curtain, covering the ark of witness with it;And when the camp moveth forward, Aaron shall come, and his sons, and they shall take down the covering vail, and cover the ark of testimony with it:
Numbers 4:6And shall cover it again with a cover of violet skins, and shall spread over it a cloth all of violet, and shall put in the bars.And putting over it the leather cover and over that a blue cloth; and putting its rods in place.And shall put on it the covering of badgers' skins, and shall spread over it a cloth wholly of blue, and shall put in the staffs of it.
Numbers 4:7They shall wrap up also the table of proposition in a cloth of violet, and shall put with it the censers and little mortars, the cups and bowls to pour out the libations: the leaves shall be always on it:And on the table of the holy bread they are to put a blue cloth, and on it all the vessels, the spoons and the basins and the cups; and the holy bread with them;And upon the table of show-bread they shall spread a cloth of blue, and put on it the dishes, and the spoons, and the bowls, and covers to cover with: and the continual bread shall be upon it.
Numbers 4:8And they shall spread over it a cloth of scarlet, which again they shall cover with a covering of violet skins, and shall put in the bars.And over them they are to put a red cloth, covering it with a leather cover, and putting its rods in their places.And they shall spread upon them a cloth of scarlet, and cover the same with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put in the staffs of it.
Numbers 4:9They shall take also a cloth of violet wherewith they shall cover the candlestick with the lamps and tongs thereof and the snuffers and all the oil vessels, which are necessary for the dressing of the lamps :And they are to take a blue cloth, covering with it the light-support with its lights and its instruments and its trays and all the oil vessels which are used for it:And they shall take a cloth of blue, and cover the candlestick of the light, and its lamps, and its tongs, and its snuff-dishes, and all its oil vessels, with which they minister to it:
Numbers 4:10And over all they shall put a cover of violet skins and put in the bars.All these they are to put in a leather cover, and put it on the frame.And they shall put it, and all its vessels, within a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put it upon a bar.
Numbers 4:11And they shall wrap up the golden altar also in a cloth of violet, and shall spread over it a cover of violet skins, and put in the bars.On the gold altar they are to put a blue cloth, covering it with a leather cover; and they are to put its rods in their places.And upon the golden altar they shall spread a cloth of blue, and cover it with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put to it its staffs.
Numbers 4:12All the vessels wherewith they minister in the sanctuary, they shall wrap up in a cloth of violet, and shall spread over it a cover of violet skins, and put in the bars.All the vessels which are used in the holy place they are to put in a blue cloth, covering them with a leather cover, and put them on the frame.And they shall take all the instruments of ministry, with which they minister in the sanctuary, and put them in a cloth of blue, and cover them with a covering of badgers' skins, and shall put them on a bar.
Numbers 4:13They shall cleanse the altar also from the ashes, and shall wrap it up in a purple cloth,And they are to take away the burned waste from the altar, and put a purple cloth on it;And they shall take away the ashes from the altar, and spread a purple cloth upon it:
Numbers 4:14And shall put it with all the vessels that they use in the ministry thereof, that is to say, firepans, fleshhooks and forks, pothooks and shovels. They shall cover all the vessels of the altar together with a covering of violet skins, and shall put in the bars.Placing on the cloth all its vessels, the fire-baskets, the meat-hooks, the spades, and the basins; all the vessels of the altar; they are to put a leather cover over all these, and put its rods in their places.And they shall put upon it all its vessels, with which they minister about it, even the censers, the flesh-hooks, and the shovels, and the basins, all the vessels of the altar; and they shall spread upon it a covering of badgers' skins, and put to it its staffs.
Numbers 4:15And when Aaron and his sons have wrapped up the sanctuary and the vessels thereof at the removing of the camp, then shall the sons of Caath enter in to carry the things wrapped up: and they shall not touch the vessels of the sanctuary, lest they die. These are the burdens of the sons of Caath: in the tabernacle of the covenant:And after the holy place and all its vessels have been covered up by Aaron and his sons, when the tents of the people go forward, the sons of Kohath are to come and take it up; but the holy things may not be touched by them for fear of death.And when Aaron and his sons have made an end of covering the sanctuary, and all the vessels of the sanctuary, as the camp is to move forward; after that, the sons of Kohath shall come to bear it: but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. These things are the burden of the sons of Kohath in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 4:16And over them shall be Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, to whose charge pertaineth the oil to dress the lamps, and the sweet incense, and the sacrifice, that is always offered, and the oil of unction, and whatsoever pertaineth to the service of the tabernacle, and of all the vessels that are in the sanctuary.And Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, is to be responsible for the oil for the light, and the sweet perfumes for burning, and the regular meal offering, and the holy oil; the House and the holy place and everything in it will be in his care.And to the office of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest pertain the oil for the light, and the sweet incense, and the daily meat-offering, and the anointing oil, and the oversight of all the tabernacle, and of all that is in it, in the sanctuary, and in its vessels.
Numbers 4:17And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying:And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,And the LORD spoke to Moses and to Aaron, saying,
Numbers 4:18Destroy not the people of Caath from the midst of the Levites:Do not let the family of the Kohathites be cut off from among the Levites;Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
Numbers 4:19But do this to them, that they may live, and not die, by touching the holies of holies. Aaron and his sons shall go in, and they shall appoint every man his work, and shall divide the burdens that every man is to carry.But do this to them, so that life and not death may be theirs when they come near the most holy things; let Aaron and his sons go in and give to every one his work and that which he is to take up;But thus do to them, that they may live, and not die, when they approach to the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in, and appoint them every one to his service and to his burden:
Numbers 4:20Let not others by any curiosity see the things that are in the sanctuary before they be wrapped up, otherwise they shall die.But they themselves are not to go in to see the holy place, even for a minute, for fear of death.But they shall not go in to see when the holy things are covered, lest they die.
Numbers 4:21And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:And the Lord said to Moses,And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,
Numbers 4:22Take the sum of the soils of Gerson also by their houses and families and kindreds.Let the sons of Gershon be numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;Take also the sum of the sons of Gershon, throughout the house of their fathers, by their families;
Numbers 4:23From thirty Sears old and upward, unto fifty years old. Number them all that go in and minister in the tabernacle of the covenant.All those from thirty to fifty years old who are able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.From thirty years old and upward until fifty years old shalt thou number them; all that enter in to perform the service, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 4:24This is the office of the family of the Gersonites :This is to be the work of the Gershonites, the things they are to do and take up.This is the service of the families of the Gershonites, to serve, and for burdens:
Numbers 4:25To carry the curtains of the tabernacle and the roof of the covenant, the other covering, and the violet covering over all, and the hanging that hangeth in the entry of the tabernacle of the covenant,They are to take up the curtains of the House, and the Tent of meeting with its cover and the leather cover over it, and the hangings for the door of the Tent of meeting;And they shall bear the curtains of the tabernacle, and the tabernacle of the congregation, its covering, and the covering of the badgers' skins that is above upon it, and the hanging for the door of the tabernacle of the congregation,
Numbers 4:26The curtains of the court, and the veil in the entry that is before the tabernacle. All things that pertain to the altar, the cords and the vessels of the ministry,And the hangings for the open space round the House and the altar, and the curtain for its doorway, with the cords and all the things used for them; whatever is necessary for these, they are to do.And the hangings of the court, and the hanging for the door of the gate of the court, which is by the tabernacle and by the altar round about, and their cords, and all the instruments of their service, and all that is made for them: so shall they serve.
Numbers 4:27The sons of Gerson shall carry, by the commandment of Aaron and his sons: and each man shall know to what burden he must be assigned.From the mouth of Aaron and his sons the Gershonites will have word about all the things they are to do and take up; you are to give them their orders.At the appointment of Aaron and his sons shall be all the service of the sons of the Gershonites, in all their burdens, and in all their service: and ye shall appoint to them in charge all their burdens.
Numbers 4:28This is the service of the family of the Gersonites in the tabernacle of the covenant, and they shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.This is the work of the family of the Gershonites in the Tent of meeting, and they will be under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.This is the service of the families of the sons of Gershon in the tabernacle of the congregation: and their charge shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
Numbers 4:29Thou shalt reckon up the sons of Merari also by the families and houses of their fathers,The sons of Merari are to be numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers;
Numbers 4:30From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to the office of their ministry, and to the service of the covenant of the testimony.Every one from thirty to fifty years old who is able to do the work of the Tent of meeting.From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation.
Numbers 4:31These are their burdens: They shall carry the boards of the tabernacle and the bars thereof, the pillars and their sockets,And this is their part in the work of the Tent of meeting: the transport of the boards and the rods of the Tent, with the pillars and their bases;And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and its bars, and its pillars, and its sockets,
Numbers 4:32The pillars also of the court round about, with their sockets and pins and cords. They shall receive by account all the vessels and furniture, and so shall carry them.And the pillars of the open space outside it, with their bases and their nails and cords and all the instruments used, and everything which has to be done there; all the instruments for which they are responsible are to be numbered by name.And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden.
Numbers 4:33This is the office of the family of the Merarites, and their ministry in the tabernacle of the covenant: and they shall be under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.This is the work which the sons of Merari are to do in connection with the Tent of meeting, under the direction of Ithamar, the son of Aaron the priest.This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest.
Numbers 4:34So Moses and Aaron and the princes of the synagogue reckoned up the sons of Caath, by their kindreds and the houses of their fathers,So Moses and Aaron and the chiefs of the people took in hand the numbering of the sons of the Kohathites, by families, in the order of their fathers' houses;And Moses and Aaron and the chief of the congregation numbered the sons of the Kohathites after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
Numbers 4:35From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to the ministry of the tabernacle of the covenant:Numbering all those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work in the Tent of meeting;From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation:
Numbers 4:36And they were found two thousand seven hundred and fifty.And the number of all these was two thousand, seven hundred and fifty.And those that were numbered of them by their families were two thousand seven hundred and fifty.
Numbers 4:37This is the number of the people of Caath that go in to the tabernacle of the covenant: these did Moses and Aaron number according to the word of the Lord by the hand of Moses.This is the number of those of the Kohathites who did the work in the Tent of meeting, as they were numbered by Moses and Aaron at the order of the Lord.These were they that were numbered of the families of the Kohathites, all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Numbers 4:38The sons of Gerson also were numbered by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,And those of the sons of Gershon who were numbered by families,And those that were numbered of the sons of Gershon, throughout their families, and by the house of their fathers,
Numbers 4:39From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to minister in the tabernacle of the covenant:All those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work in the Tent of meeting,From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service, for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,
Numbers 4:40And they were found two thousand six hundred and thirty.Who were numbered by families in the order of their fathers' houses, were two thousand, six hundred and thirty.Even those that were numbered of them, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers, were two thousand and six hundred and thirty.
Numbers 4:41This is the people of the Gersonites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the Lord.This is the number of the sons of Gershon who did the work in the Tent of meeting, as they were numbered by Moses and Aaron at the order of the Lord.These are they that were numbered of the families of the sons of Gershon, of all that might do service in the tabernacle of the congregation, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the commandment of the LORD.
Numbers 4:42The sons of Merari also were numbered by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,And those of the sons of Merari who were numbered by families, in the order of their fathers' houses,And those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, throughout their families, by the house of their fathers,
Numbers 4:43From thirty years old and upward, unto fifty years old, all that go in to fulfil the rites of the tabernacle of the covenant:All those from thirty to fifty years old who did the work in the Tent of meeting,From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that entereth into the service for the work in the tabernacle of the congregation,
Numbers 4:44And they were found three thousand two hundred.Who were numbered by families, were three thousand, two hundred.Even those that were numbered of them after their families, were three thousand and two hundred.
Numbers 4:45This is the number of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron reckoned up according to the commandment of the Lord by the hand of Moses.This is the number of the sons of Merari, numbered by Moses and Aaron at the order of the Lord.These are those that were numbered of the families of the sons of Merari, whom Moses and Aaron numbered according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Numbers 4:46All that were reckoned up of the Levites, and whom Moses and Aaron and the princes of Israel took by name, by the kindreds and houses of their fathers,And all the Levites who were numbered by Moses and Aaron and the chiefs of the people, by families, in the order of their fathers' houses,All those that were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron and the chief of Israel numbered, after their families, and after the house of their fathers,
Numbers 4:47From thirty years old and upward, until fifty years old, that go into the ministry of the tabernacle, and to carry the burdens,Those from thirty to fifty years old who were able to do the work of the Tent of meeting and of its transport,From thirty years old and upward even to fifty years old, every one that came to do the service of the ministry, and the service of the burden in the tabernacle of the congregation,
Numbers 4:48Were in all eight thousand five hundred and eighty.Came to eight thousand, five hundred and eighty.Even those that were numbered of them, were eight thousand and five hundred and eighty.
Numbers 4:49Moses reckoned them up according to the word of the Lord, every one according to their office and burdens, as the Lord had commanded him.At the order of the Lord they were numbered by Moses, every one in relation to his work and to his part in the transport; so they were numbered by Moses at the order of the Lord.According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered by him, as the LORD commanded Moses.
