Romans 6:1What shall we say, then? shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?What may we say, then? are we to go on in sin so that there may be more grace?To what conclusion, then, shall we come? Are we to persist in sinning in order that the grace extended to us may be the greater?
Romans 6:2God forbid. For we that are dead to sin, how shall we live any longer therein?In no way. How may we, who are dead to sin, be living in it any longer?No, indeed; how shall we who have died to sin, live in it any longer?
Romans 6:3Know you not that all we, who are baptized in Christ Jesus, are baptized in his death?Or are you without the knowledge that all we who had baptism into Christ Jesus, had baptism into his death?And do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Romans 6:4For we are buried together with him by baptism into death; that as Christ is risen from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also may walk in newness of life.We have been placed with him among the dead through baptism into death: so that as Christ came again from the dead by the glory of the Father, we, in the same way, might be living in new life.Well, then, we by our baptism were buried with Him in death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from among the dead by the Father's glorious power, we also should live an entirely new life.
Romans 6:5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.For, if we have been made like him in his death, we will, in the same way, be like him in his coming to life again;For since we have become one with Him by sharing in His death, we shall also be one with Him by sharing in His resurrection.
Romans 6:6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin may be destroyed, to the end that we may serve sin no longer.Being conscious that our old man was put to death on the cross with him, so that the body of sin might be put away, and we might no longer be servants to sin.This we know that our old self was nailed to the cross with Him, in order that our sinful nature might be deprived of its power, so that we should no longer be the slaves of sin;
Romans 6:7For he that is dead is justified from sin.Because he who is dead is free from sin.for he who has paid the penalty of death stands absolved from his sin.
Romans 6:8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall live also together with Christ:But if we are dead with Christ, we have faith that we will be living with him;But, seeing that we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him;
Romans 6:9Knowing that Christ rising again from the dead, dieth now no more, death shall no more have dominion over him.Having knowledge that because Christ has come back from the dead, he will never again go down to the dead; death has no more power over him.because we know that Christ, having come back to life, is no longer liable to die.
Romans 6:10For in that he died to sin, he died once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God:For his death was a death to sin, but his life now is a life which he is living to God.Death has no longer any power over Him. For by the death which He died He became, once for all, dead in relation to sin; but by the life which He now lives He is alive in relation to God.
Romans 6:11So do you also reckon, that you are dead to sin, but alive unto God, in Christ Jesus our Lord.Even so see yourselves as dead to sin, but living to God in Christ Jesus.In the same way you also must regard yourselves as dead in relation to sin, but as alive in relation to God, because you are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:12Let no sin therefore reign in your mortal body, so as to obey the lusts thereof.For this cause do not let sin be ruling in your body which is under the power of death, so that you give way to its desires;Let not Sin therefore reign as king in your mortal bodies, causing you to be in subjection to their cravings;
Romans 6:13Neither yield ye your members as instruments of iniquity unto sin; but present yourselves to God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of justice unto God.And do not give your bodies to sin as the instruments of wrongdoing, but give yourselves to God, as those who are living from the dead, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness to God.and no longer lend your faculties as unrighteous weapons for Sin to use. On the contrary surrender your very selves to God as living men who have risen from the dead, and surrender your several faculties to God, to be used as weapons to maintain the right.
Romans 6:14For sin shall not have dominion over you; for you are not under the law, but under grace.For sin may not have rule over you: because you are not under law, but under grace.For Sin shall not be lord over you, since you are subjects not of Law, but of grace.
Romans 6:15What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.What then? are we to go on in sin because we are not under law but under grace? Let it not be so.Are we therefore to sin because we are no longer under the authority of Law, but under grace? No, indeed!
Romans 6:16Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are whom you obey, whether it be of sin unto death, or of obedience unto justice.Are you not conscious that you are the servants of him to whom you give yourselves to do his desire? if to sin, the end being death, or if to do the desire of God, the end being righteousness.Do you not know that if you surrender yourselves as bondservants to obey any one, you become the bondservants of him whom you obey, whether the bondservants of Sin (with death as the result) or of Duty (resulting in righteousness)?
Romans 6:17But thanks be to God, that you were the servants of sin, but have obeyed from the heart, unto that form of doctrine, into which you have been delivered.But praise be to God that though you were the servants of sin, you have now given yourselves freely to that form of teaching under which you were placed;But thanks be to God that though you were once in thraldom to Sin, you have now yielded a hearty obedience to that system of truth in which you have been instructed.
Romans 6:18Being then freed from sin, we have been made servants of justice.And being made free from sin you have been made the servants of righteousness.You were set free from the tyranny of Sin, and became the bondservants of Righteousness
Romans 6:19I speak an human thing, because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as you have yielded your members to serve uncleanness and iniquity, unto iniquity; so now yield your members to serve justice, unto sanctification.I am using words in the way of men, because your flesh is feeble: as you gave your bodies as servants to what is unclean, and to evil to do evil, so now give them as servants to righteousness to do what is holy.your human infirmity leads me to employ these familiar figures and just as you once surrendered your faculties into bondage to Impurity and ever-increasing disregard of Law, so you must now surrender them into bondage to Righteousness ever advancing towards perfect holiness.
Romans 6:20For when you were the servants of sin, you were free men to justice.When you were servants of sin you were free from righteousness.For when you were the bondservants of sin, you were under no sort of subjection to Righteousness.
Romans 6:21What fruit therefore had you then in those things, of which you are now ashamed? For the end of them is death.What fruit had you at that time in the things which are now a shame to you? for the end of such things is death.At that time, then, what benefit did you get from conduct which you now regard with shame? Why, such things finally result in death.
Romans 6:22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, you have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end life everlasting.But now, being free from sin, and having been made servants to God, you have your fruit in that which is holy, and the end is eternal life.But now that you have been set free from the tyranny of Sin, and have become the bondservants of God, you have your reward in being made holy, and you have the Life of the Ages as the final result.
Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death. But the grace of God, life everlasting, in Christ Jesus our Lord.For the reward of sin is death; but what God freely gives is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.For the wages paid by Sin are death; but God's free gift is the Life of the Ages bestowed upon us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
