Acts 8:1And at that time there was raised a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all dispersed through the countries of Judea, and Samaria, except the apostles. And Saul gave approval to his death. Now at that time a violent attack was started against the church in Jerusalem; and all but the Apostles went away into all parts of Judaea and Samaria.Saul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.
Acts 8:2And devout men took order for Stephen's funeral, and made great mourning over him.And God-fearing men put Stephen's body in its last resting-place, making great weeping over him.Devout men buried Stephen, and lamented greatly over him.
Acts 8:3But Saul made havock of the church, entering in from house to house, and dragging away men and women, committed them to prison. But Saul was burning with hate against the church, going into every house and taking men and women and putting them in prison. But Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.

Acts 8:9There was therefore great joy in that city. Now there was a certain man named Simon, who before had been a magician in that city, seducing the people of Samaria, giving out that he was some great one:But there was a certain man named Simon, who in the past had been a wonder-worker and a cause of surprise to the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was a great man:But there was a certain man, Simon by name, who had used sorcery in the city before, and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,

Acts 8:11And they were attentive to him, because, for a long time, he had bewitched them with his magical practices. And they gave attention to him, because for a long time his wonder-working powers had kept them under his control. They listened to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.
